Hmm, nevermind, not sure where I thought I'd found 0.6.8.

Yes, that would be useful.

Thanks for your response. I checked the new package and it looks good.

Nitpick only; fix at your discretion:

Might want to say "no longer needed with new d/rules", in that case.

Two minor issues:

W: arc-theme: description-synopsis-starts-with-article

Vcs-Browser points to upstream rather than debianisation (like in your two
other packages).

Otherwise, everything seems fine.

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "growl-for-linux"

 * Package name: growl-for-linux
   Version : 0.8.5-1
   Upstream Author : Yasuhiro Matsumoto
 * URL : https://mattn.github.io/growl-for-linux/
 * License : BSD-2-clause
   Section : gnome

  It builds those binary packages:

growl-for-linux - Pluggable notification system which supports GNTP

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/growl-for-linux

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/g/growl-for-linux/growl-for-linux_0.8.5-1.dsc

More information about growl-for-linux can be obtained from
https://github.com/mattn/growl-for-linux

  Changes since the last upload:

  * New upstream release
  * debian/patches/series
- Removed drop-removed-growl4linuxjpg.patch because it was already
  applied in upstream.
  * debian/patches/disable-pie-for-libgolplug.patch
- Added a patch to disable PIE explicitly for libgolplug not to be
conflicted with shared libraries under display/*.
  * debian/watch,debian/upstream/signing-key.asc
- Supported cryptographic signature verification.

First, please run lintian on the package. It currently returns:
E: moka-icon-theme: copyright-should-refer-to-common-license-file-for-gpl
E: moka-icon-theme: description-is-pkg-name Moka Icon Theme

The Vcs-Browser needs to point to a VCS of the packaging rather than the
upstream code. The VCS might contain just the debian/ dir or everything
-- a ready-to-build source package. If you haven't used git for packaging,
please delete the field.

debian/rules contains:
override_dh_auto_install:
--sourcedir=Moka
which has no effect. Not sure what you intended to do here; this paragraph
can be safely deleted.

>From minute differences I noticed in a few places, I see logos included in
this package were drawn by hand by the author rather than copied exactly.
However, they are still derived from the originals. Copying by wetware is
still copying. This package includes a massive number of icons for various
software and companies, both free and non-free. I'm not sure what the exact
rules are: faenza was forced to remove most logos, yet I see those in a
number of other packages. I guess it's up to ftpmasters to decide.

One minor issue I noticed too late:
the Vcs-Browser field should point to a repository containing the Debian
packaging, rather than just the upstream code. The latter may be put into
debian/upstream/metadata which you already included.

Thus, if you have your packaging in git, please point both Vcs-Git and
Vcs-Browser to it. Otherwise, delete the field.

  Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "faba-icon-theme"

 * Package name: faba-icon-theme
   Version : 4.1.2-1
   Upstream Author : Sam Hewitt
 * URL : github.com/moka-project/faba-icon-theme
 * License : LGPL-3.0 or CC-BY-SA-4.0
   Section : misc

  It builds those binary packages:

faba-icon-theme - Tango influenced icon theme called Faba

To access further information about this package, please visit the
following URL:

  https://mentors.debian.net/package/faba-icon-theme

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

dget -x
https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/f/faba-icon-theme/faba-icon-theme_4.1.2-1.dsc

Notes:

I am the maintainer of a Ubuntu based distro called budgie-remix which

uses moka-icon-theme & faba-icon-theme as its key icon themes - hence
why I'm excited to maintain this package for the wider

Debian community. budgie-remix uses the new desktop environment called
budgie-desktop which I have also packaged here

moka-icon-theme is a highly popular icon theme used by several
distros. faba-icon-theme is the base theme for moka.

It is installed currently by Ubuntu users through the upstream
maintainer PPA repository or via manual compilation.

I'm providing this package to allow all Debian users and Debian
derivatives a native

package rather than depending upon a third-party Ubuntu only repo.

I've asked the question here as to whether upstream will sign future
tag releases:

The upstream maintainer has indicated that they do not wish to GPG
sign releases on his project.

Wait a minute, now I think your concern regarding renaming is right.
Consider the upstream contributor all left that company, using company
name in library name is not good idea.

Since this library is actually a sub-library of libcork, I'd rather
call it libcorkipset now.
I'll make the change and retitle the ITP/RFS later.

Thanks for your understanding!

Where may I get the updated package? I see nothing on mentors.debian.net.

Feel free to make any updates you want, man page changes are among least
intrusive ones. And in general, the more documentation, the better.

Feel free to make any updates other than man page, too -- some extra review
churn is a good price to pay for having better quality packages.

Thanks for your great help!
This convinced me that this library can be packaged, too.

Yes, I used python3-cram in libcork, but this time it just doesn't work.
So I removed it.

upstream's docs/CMakeLists.txt just output nothing.
You can see "set(MAN_PAGES)", the target is empty!

So I used the same way in libcork to generate docs.
Actually the upstream was during the transition from sphinx to pandoc.
They removed sphinx setting, added pandoc setting, but didn't remove
sphinx docs.
So I patched back sphinx setting, just works.

(docs from upstream just poor, even I wrote a patch to add index page)

gbp-buildpackage and git-pbuilder just behave differently.
the former does: build => install => build test + test
the latter does: build => build test + test => install

Because the library is renamed from libipset to libredjackipset,
current hack is the simplest way to make both gbp-buildpackage and
git-pbuilder happy.

> --buildsystem=cmake --builddirectory=build should be useless

I removed "--buildsystem=cmake"
Thanks for your suggestion!

Without "--builddirectory=build", the docs will be built under
/docs/
This make install file hard to write.

Removed.

Yes, moving "include(GNUInstallDirs)" makes dh-exec useless.

Ok. In self-protection can point on elpa-paredit source package.

You mean, I should gpg-tag 'a9e75' as debian/0.6.4-1?

Good find. While the file in itself doesn't do any harm as installed by
upstream, it could indeed be useful as documentation. Decided to link
the other way around though, i.e. from /usr/share/doc/xpad to its
current location (in accordance with policy section 12.3).

> You seem to have added an upstream signing key and modified d/watch,
> but I couldn't find mention of this in your changelog entry.

My bad, had to revert some of the initial changes as the pubkey was
nowhere to be found (despite signed releases) and then forgot to
restore the changelog entry after asking upstream about that in
https://answers.launchpad.net/xpad/+question/295164

> It's great you are closing so many bugs :)

All for that warm feeling on rainy days such as this ;)

Unfortunately, that patch came completely undocumented and didn't make
much sense, so I went with a delete-and-see approach here. Could well
be that using autoreconf was all it took to get rid of it. The lack of
info about why it was there in the first place makes it hard to provide
more details beyond the simple notion of being 'no longer needed'.

This is a standard and well known change implemented in numerous
packages nowadays. Afaik, no section in policy explicitly mentions the
deprecation; the text was just changed to that effect. I'll mention the
ctte decision in d/changelog in the hope of preventing others from
wasting time reading that lengthy bug report but that's about all I can
do here.

Obviously. Reworded.

Sorted/reordered them alright, never even imagined someone would have
created a tool for that though. I'll add a note to the changelog.

Just to be clear: I'm not going to let something this trivial stand in
the way of sponsorship. But until then: let's agree to disagree.

but shouldn't this be executed only during install?
the place where you put suggests the code will be executed and re-executed
during all
the calls (configure deconfigure abort upgrade and so on)

I would do it in configure, and don't care about the upgrade, because even
re-running
it will be a no-op (unless apg generates the same "barfoo!" password :) )
LOL, in that case it will be changed during an apt-get {dist-}upgrade :)

>Hope you cannot find a nitpick this time :-P

there is always something to nitpick :)

e.g.
https://mentors.debian.net/package/shadowsocks-libev
"W debian-watch-file-should-mangle-version
line 7"

what does it mean?
I admit I didn't investigate it

Bug#827082: RFS: libredjackipset/1.1.1+20150311-1 [ITP] -- C library to store sets/maps of IP address

2016-06-20 Thread Gianfranco Costamagna
control: owner -1 !
control: tags -1 moreinfo

Hi, lets see

1) control: why the -dev package is not multiarch?
sounds like it is multiarch ready to me
(I didn't check but include/* seems to have the same md5sum on different archs

2) the dev package should suggest the doc one

3) d/p/0002-fix-build-with-static-libcheck-library.patch

I can't complain here, I seem to know the author of that patch :p

3) d/p/0004-remove-test-of-python-cram.patch

why? python-cram is available on Debian

4) d/p/0007-*
why? please be more verbose on patches, otherwise I find difficult to
understand why you are using sphinx instead
of pandoc to build documentation

5) rules:
I don't like hacks
and your sed makes the package non-rebuildable.

maybe overriding the

dh_install target, and acting under debian/libfoo-dev/usr/include

is a "better" way (also, a mv instead of ln -s since this old directory should
go away)

--buildsystem=cmake --builddirectory=build should be useless

also
DPKG_EXPORT_BUILDFLAGS = 1
include /usr/share/dpkg/buildflags.mk

6) did you forward the rename to upstream?

7) libredjackipset-docs.docs
is it useful? there is no package with that name, so probably the file can be
removed

8) I'm not a fan of dh-exec, and your patch about multiarch seems incomplete

+include(GNUInstallDirs)

this has to be done *before*

"set(CMAKE_INSTALL_LIBDIR lib${LIB_SUFFIX} CACHE STRING"
note the LIB_SUFFIX

and then the install files can change from
usr/lib/lib*.so usr/lib/${DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH}
to
usr/lib/*/*.so
and similar for others

9)

did you try compat level 10?
it should speed up the build by running dh --parallel :)
(you can also experiment with --parallel on the default dh call in rules file)

I guess that's all for now :)

Gianfranco

you gave me a good answer here, so, please add it again then (libboost-dev is

as I did above, I accepted your explanation and asked to restore your solution

we are talking about copyright in upstream tarball.
I can understand a symlink in debian/copyright, but shouldn't the upstream

have a LICENSE file explaining the license text?

uploaded the package on deferred/5, with a little change on rules (attached)

-override_dh_auto_install:
- python3 setup.py install --root=$(CURDIR)/debian/subuser
--install-layout=deb
-
override_dh_auto_clean:
- rm -rf build
- python3 setup.py clean -a
+ rm -rf subuser.egg-info

in 5 days it will go in new queue, if you don't ask me to cancel the upload.

Hi

other than that, the manpage issue can be "probably" fixed by
"PYTHONPATH=."
before invoking help2man

and of course using ./bin/codespell.py as argument

oh, and I think manpage generation should be done

in override_dh_installman, not dh_auto_build target.

so, something like

removing the dh_auto_build override

+override_dh_installman:
+ PYTHONPATH=. help2man debian/codespell/usr/bin/codespell.py \
+ --include debian/codespell.1.include \
+ --no-info \
+ --output codespell.1
+ sed -i '/\.SS \"Usage/,+2d' codespell.1
+ dh_installman

should work.

(not sending you a good patch by purpose, sorry!)

also, you need to tell debhelper to install the manpage ;)

man ./codespell.1 seems to return something good to me

Help with python packaging

2016-06-20 Thread Peter Spiess-Knafl
Hi Mentors!

I currently maintain codespell [1]. Upstream has dropped the makefile
support which has currently been used for packaging codespell.

Now I am trying to switch to pybuild but I am facing two problems:

1.) How can I invoke help2man in a pybuild based package?
2.) The script gets installed with the .py suffix, how can I drop this?

My current approach is pushed to the dev branch at:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/codespell.git/log/?h=dev

Thank you and greetings,
Peter

Bug#827685: RFS: elpa-undo-tree/0.6.4-1 ITP

In an attempt to improve the output of dh-make-elpa I'm looking at
Dmitry's package again, and I came up with the following questions and
suggestions. My apologies for not coming up with these before the
package was uploaded.

1. The /source/ package name should actually be undo-tree not
elpa-undo-tree (team convention to use upstream's name). Probably
not worth changing now, but you should be aware of this for packaging
other addons (you mentioned you wanted to package evil).

2. Is there some reason you packaged version 0.6.4? 0.6.6 is available.

3. The homepage in d/control is wrong:
http://www.dr-qubit.org/git/undo-tree.git is just a git repository,
not a webpage. It should be
    (my script
   got this mostly right!).

I've gone ahead and fixed this in the team repo.

4. Please apply a PGP-signed tag to the correct commit in the team
repo. Then it will appear correctly on PET.[1]

Thanks for correcting my misunderstanding, and for fixing the package.

Bug#827037: RFS: xpad/4.8.0-1 [ITA]

2016-06-20 Thread Sean Whitton
control: tag -1 +moreinfo

Hello again JCF,

Here's a more complete review. I hope it is helpful to you.

I ran debdiff and found that the new version installs
/usr/share/xpad/help/xpad-user-help.txt. Shouldn't this be in
/usr/share/doc/xpad? If xpad needs to load this file, you could make a
symlink from /usr/share/xpad/help to /usr/share/doc or add a patch.

You seem to have added an upstream signing key and modified d/watch, but
I couldn't find mention of this in your changelog entry.

It's great you are closing so many bugs :)

It would be good to say in the changelog why it's no longer needed
(obsoleted by XX? applied upstream?).

> * Remove Debian menu support as per #741573.

That is a very long bug report. It would be better to refer to the
section of the Debian Policy that states the deprecation.

I think you mean "debhelper build dependency". Bumping the version of
debhelper means making a release of debhelper...

It seems that you ran wrap-and-sort to improve the formatting of the
control file. This is usually mentioned in the Debian changelog with
the options that you passed to wrap-and-sort, e.g.

   * Run wrap-and-sort -abst

> * Docs: don't install AUTHORS, THANKS, TODO (not relevant for end

(It's been discussed above that I think this is unnecessary and has the
potential to damage relations with upstream; just mentioning it here so
that this e-mail forms a complete review.)

Are you sure you need the override_dh_installchangelogs target? I
thought that dh_installchangelogs automatically tried common names like
"ChangeLog".

As you're the sole author, I guess it'd be better to change the headers
instead, to say "version 3 or higher".

But either way will do.
