Maintaining a package across several debian codenames
Hi, Let's assume I wish to maintain package_A across unstable and bullseye- backports. I understand from https://dep-team.pages.debian.net/deps/dep14/ that: 1. I need to create 3 branches in my git repository: - upstream/latest - debian/latest - debian/bullseye-backports 2. Since I am using git-buildpackage, I presume I would generate 3 tags when creating a new package version (ex: v3.0.0) - upstream/3.0.0 (when running gbp import-orig) - debian/3.0.0-1 (when running gbp buildpackage inside branch debian/latest) - ??? (when running gbp buildpackage inside branch debian/bullseye- backports) If the above is correct, what should be the name of the last tag (the one issued by gbp buildpackage inside branch debian/bullseye-backports ? Re: Creating packages for several distributions
Hi Mechtilde and Andrey, Got it for the official debian repository. In a nutshell: - Push to mentors once the freeze is released (ie, after bookworm is released) - Once package in unstable/testing, push a backport to stable and oldstable Got it as well for the number of versions: - Keep 1 branch per repository/distribution: * debian/latest: debian official repository and unstable * debian/bullseye: debian official repository and bullseye * odr/latest: odr repository and unstable * odr/bullseye: odr repository and bullseye Thanks. Creating packages for several distributions
Hi, I am in charge of creating debian packages for the Opendigitalradio mmbtools (https://www.opendigitalradio.org/mmbtools) and as such, I: - am proposing/pushing debian packages to unstable - manage the Opendigitalradio debian repository (http://debian.opendigitalradio.org) If I want to create a package (ex: odr-audioenc) for both unstable and bullseye on both debian and odr repository, can I have 1 debian/changelog file only where the first line would read: odr-audioenc (3.3.1-1+deb11u1) unstable bullseye; urgency=medium or do I need 2 versions of debian/changelog (thus 2 branches: debian/bullseye + debian/latest): one for each distribution (unstable and bullseye)? Re: Bug#1008882: RFS: odr-audioenc/3.2.0-1 [ITP] -- DAB and DAB+ encoder that integrates into the ODR-mmbTools
Hi Paul, I need to talk with the person in charge of the upstream odr-audioenc to see whether he could push his changes to the original project. In the meantime, I pushed odr-audioenc to mentors (https://mentors.debian.net/package/odr-audioenc/) and I have 2 questions regarding the ouptut of lintian: 1. Why didn't the "source-is-missing" error show on my environment (prior to push the package with dput)? Is there a specific lintian setup that I missed? FYI, my packaging environment runs on bullseye (I tried sid yesterday, but somehow there was a problem with one missing package that was preventing apt upgrade and install) 2. The "source-is-missing" error is actually not a missing file but a file (libtoolame-dab/html/psycho.html) with too-long lines. Is there any action I must take to make lintian happy or can the package be accepted "as-is" ? Thank you very much Paul. I will apply all your esuggestions with one exception though: the section will be non-free/hamradio in the end, for I made a mistake when I wrote the initial email (my apologies). Since the odr-dabmod package was not moved to the NEW queue yet, can I just reload the package with the updated debian/rules file or do I also need to modify file debian/changelog indicating the change on debian/rules? In the latter case, do I need to change the package version (ie. moving to 2.6.0-2 from 2.6.0-1)? Bug#1010004: RFS: odr-dabmod/2.6.0-1 [ITP] -- DAB modulator compliant to ETSI EN 300 401
Hi Bastian, Thank you for your answer: it is crystal clear! As I wrote to you, I: 1. Uploaded on Wednesday (April 27) the corrected versions of odr- dabmux (https://mentors.debian.net/package/odr-dabmux/) and odr-dabmod (https://mentors.debian.net/package/odr-dabmod/) 2. Removed the moreinfo tag on odr-dabmux (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1009867) and odr- dabmod (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1010004) Assuming I did everything correctly, is there anything else I must do to have these 2 packages pushed to the NEW queue (like what was done with odr-padenc)? Or is it the sponsor/you who pushes the packages to the NEW queue by closing the above 2 bugs (1009867 and 1010004) ? Kind regards. -- Robin ALEXANDER Le mercredi 27 avril 2022 à 14:41 +0200, Bastian Germann a écrit : > Am 27.04.22 um 14:13 schrieb Robin ALEXANDER: > > I now have 1 question. Bug#1010004: RFS: odr-dabmod/2.6.0-1 [ITP] -- DAB modulator compliant to ETSI EN 300 401
Hi Bastian, thank you very much. I followed your instructions and uploaded again both odr-dabmod (Bug#1010004) and odr-dabmux (Bug#1009867). I also removed the tag "moreinfo" on both bugs (hoping I did it right). I now have 1 question. When I built these packages, debuild generated the xxx_amd64.changes files. Why do I have "amd64" in the filename (I understand it relates to the X86_64 architecture)? For your information, the source is mainly C++ based and it compiles properly under arm64 and arm/v7 as well. Should I have ran debuild in a different manner or is it going to be taken care of by the debian packaging process later on? Kind regards. -- Robin ALEXANDER Le mercredi 27 avril 2022 à 00:58 +0200, Bastian Germann a écrit : > Control: tags -1 moreinfo > > On Fri, 22 Apr 2022 10:20:06 +0200 Robin ALEXANDER > wrote: > > Changes for the initial release: > > > > odr-dabmod (2.6.0-1) unstable; urgency=low > > . > > * Initial release.
