Sure. but that isn't exactly useful for the purpose of this test where it was desired to know whether non-official KDE apps from testing would happily operate with KDE 3.3.1. Bug#235008: kmix crashes hard
Adeodato Simó wrote: hi Sukant, can you confirm that this is no longer happening? Hello Adeodato, The short story is that it still crashes. I'm using Debian, and I apt-get'ed the last packages from the testing distribution. On the flip side, I think there might be some setup that I can improve upon, as far as group and user privileging of device files. Still, though, even if my configuration needs improvement, a hard crash is pretty extreme, and I think kmix might need some better exception handling. Unfortunately, right now I'm super busy on a school project (that has somehow seeped into my Christmas break). That will be over by next week, when I'd be happy to take a closer look at kmix again. In the meantime, I've been using alsamixer with no problems. However, I thought kmix would have been nice since it docks nicely in the KDE panel. I'll get back with you in about a week; just wanted to let you know I received your message. Regards, Sukant
