 Ok, give this a try:

Hello,

this solves the dependency problem but it contains the bug of sarge's mpeglib
which I reported, i.e., the babble bug.

Sure. but that isn't exactly useful for the purpose of this test
where it was desired to know whether non-official KDE apps from testing
would happily operate with KDE 3.3.1. Using k3b from unstable kinda
defeats that purpose. Wouldn't you agree? :)

After downgrading libFLAC4 to 1.1.0 from testing, it works fine. so juk doe=

Of course, but I had problems with the testing-version of k3b even without
 using any packages from unstable.

k3b in testing was known to be broken. so what Steffen says makes
  sense.

  Frederik, many thanks for testing.

Bug#235008: kmix crashes hard

2004-12-17 Thread Spam Guard

Adeodato Simó wrote:

hi Sukant, can you confirm that this is no longer happening?

Hello Adeodato,

The short story is that it still crashes. I'm using Debian, and I
apt-get'ed the last packages from the testing distribution. On the
flip side, I think there might be some setup that I can improve upon, as
far as group and user privileging of device files. Still, though, even
if my configuration needs improvement, a hard crash is pretty extreme,
and I think kmix might need some better exception handling.

Unfortunately, right now I'm super busy on a school project (that has
somehow seeped into my Christmas break). That will be over by next
week, when I'd be happy to take a closer look at kmix again.

In the meantime, I've been using alsamixer with no problems. However, I
thought kmix would have been nice since it docks nicely in the KDE panel.

I'll get back with you in about a week; just wanted to let you know I
received your message.

Regards,
Sukant

Additionally, the installer team needs to get noticed anyway, as
xfonts-konsole has to be installed with konsole. Or maybe you just update the
dependency from recommends to requires because getting just an error

sorry, but that would fail to meet the Debian Policy requirements.

I think that /usr/share/doc/konsole/README.linux.console is pretty

lib-compare.sh script

2004-12-17 Thread Daniel Schepler
Here's the lib-compare.sh script I've been using to detect when
symbols get added (or removed, unfortunately) from libraries. The
usage is: lib-compare.sh old-deb new-deb.
