upgrade from 3.4-3.5

2006-01-20 Thread Bohdan Linda

Hello,

I am not sure if this is bug or my lame, but after upgrade to
kdelibs-data_4%3a3.5.0-3_all.deb I have encountered the following error
message in aptitude:

/var/cache/apt/archives/kdelibs-data_4%3a3.5.0-3_all.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite `/usr/share/mimelnk/image/x-djvu.desktop', which is
 also in package libdjvulibre15
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
 Errors were encountered while processing:
  /var/cache/apt/archives/kdelibs-data_4%3a3.5.0-3_all.deb
  E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I had to install it manually via dpkg --force-overwrite. Anyway just
wanted to let you know about this ;-)

Kind regards,
Bohdan

there is not less than *5* bug reports in
http://bugs.debian.org/kdelibs-data for this. we kind of know that this
problem exists, and is already addressed in the next upload, as the
`pending` tags on that 5 bugs can tell you.

Though, we wait for kde 3.5.1 which will be tagged soon to be released
for the next upload. The fix will come in a few days (presumably 3/4)

Bug#349005: libarts1c2a: artsdsp supposed to work for shell scripts

2006-01-20 Thread Bernd Zeimetz
Package: libarts1c2a
Version: 1.5.0-3
Severity: important

Hi,

trying to start firefox and other programs which ar started by some
shell-voodoo in the artsdsp environment doesn't work anymore.

1 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ artsdsp firefox
artsdsp works only for binaries
1 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

artsdsp should be able to execute all executeables.
I can see the problem with 32/64 bit libraries - but this way makes it
impossible to execute a lot of applications.
I'd suggest to check if artsdsp is running on a 64bit architecture and
only to check for binaries there. Not a solution but a good and easy
workaround.

Best regards,

Bernd Zeimetz

At least the package became unusable for me..:-)

Ripping is currently completely unfunctional in kaudiocreator.

Here's my kaudiocreatorrc file...but I even tried to empty it and nothign

Subject: kcontrol: Causes delay during boot
Package: kcontrol
Version: 4:3.4.3-3
Severity: normal

The script /etc/hotplug/usb/logitechmouse causes a long delay during
boot, while udev waits 'for /dev to by fully populated'. From my tests,
it seems that DEVICE isn't even set in the script's environment, so the
script is timing out while waiting for a file with an empty file to be
created. I suggest adding something like this to the top of the script:

  test -n $DEVICE || exit

Or better yet, removing the script entirely: what is the purpose of the
script, and why is it in kcontrol? Why should mouse devices have their
group set to plugdev? Why does this only apply to Logitech mice, and why
only for users of KDE? :)

In fact I just noticed the presence of /etc/udev/logitechmouse.rules that
does the same thing (even though `find /dev -group plugdev` returns no
results--should I file a separate bug for that?). Perhaps the script should
exit immediatly if it detects that /dev/.udev exists?

Kolab Plans?

2006-01-20 Thread Johannes Graumann
Hello,

1) I LOVE kontact - REALLY COOL! ;0)
2) I'd like to set up a central infrastructure for addressbooks and calendars
for a small group of people - enter: GROUPWARE.
3) I have managed to install OpenLDAP following
http://wiki.tryphon.org/Configure_OpenLDAP, but can't find an LDAP Schema
that would cover all fields in the addressbook component of kontact.
4) I struggled for a while to install egroupware, but am having major problems
to get it to run ...
5) Wait - kontact was designed as a client for kolab, wasn't it? Kolab
installation is a major pida! System independent installations of bzip2,
file, gcc, gzip, make, openssl, PERL!, ... ? Gimme a break! Can't cooperate
with base-required exim? Br!

So the question now is: are there any plans to package kolab for debian proper
- without this openpkg monster?

I'd like to help according to my restricted hobbyist (if that word wasn't
tainted by Mr. M$ ...) system administrator capabilities ...

Thanks, Joh

Yes there is a group working on it.
Look at http://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-kolab/
We are now in a testing period and need some time for the major packages.
