Bug#571047: kmix: keyboard shortcuts don't register numpad correctly

2010-02-22 Thread Frédéric Brière
Package: kmix
Version: 4:4.3.4-1
Severity: normal

(I should point out I'm using fluxbox, not KDE, in case it matters.)

The keyboard shortcuts dialog does not register numpad keys correctly;
for example, trying to register KP_ADD will result in "+" instead.

Bug#503149: [kmail] The bug is still there

2010-02-22 Thread Valerio Passini
Package: kmail
Version: 4:4.3.4-2

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hi Lisandro,

I have simply tried to send to myself a patch as text using the standard
settings in kmail and seen that the bug is still there: indentation made
with tabs is changed in spaces. Aesthetically it looks the same, but
patch program doesn't agree. None confirmed this, but probably there are
not many people sending patches this way.
Upstream doesn't seem to be aware of this bug, despite the fact that
many developers dropped using kmail for this reason. Please, do you mind
to report it upstream if you have some spare time, because now I'm
really busy? Otherwise I will do it sometime in the near future.
Bye

Valerio

Bug#569706: ktimetracker: Can't delete task when "Track Active Applications" is checked

Hi,

unfortunately, I wasn't able to apply the patch against the debian source
(4:4.3.4-1). However, I tried to patch the file by hand (see attached file) and
I successfully compiled it but it didn't solve the problem.

I am not sure whether I may have done something wrong during the patching
process or the patch is not effective against the bug.

Thanks.

PS

I am going to post this message to the kdebugs bug too.

[Sune Vuorela]

I did not understand what you wrote. Care to elaborate?

The issue at hand is that kmix is unable to control the sound volume
for the audio system used by KDE on a thin client. KDE audio work
just fine for (most) KDE applications in this setup, but kmix do not
present any controls to adjust the audio level.

Happy hacking,

As written, it is a new *feature* in kde 4.4. Features are not "important".

Genius, I cannot cancel the GUI from Internet Explorer 9.6, how does it work?

First from the drawer menu within Outlook NT you should never explore the
analogic 3D system but from the preferences inside X-Windows you neither can
ever receive a mousepad, nor must reset the command prompt over the kernel on
a cable for loading the CD connection of a forward over the program.

The problem does not exist in 3.5.5-3.

I've created a new user to insure existing config is not the issue.
I run 11 other transparent applets that don't exhibit this behavior.
Would be glad to provide more information if I knew what was relevant.

Hi,

in a transparent panel, kweather is the only app that shows a solid
grey background. This used to work in 3.5.6 and is freshly broken.

Greetings

Hello,

When kicker is transparent, and the different desktops have diffent
wallpapers, Kweather applet does not change its background when one switches
to another desktop.

However, the other applets from kdetoys seem to behave as before (and as
expected).

Best,

*** Please type your report below this line ***
When text is automatically quoted on reply, it can end up word-wrapped. This
makes a mess when using a customised quote indicator phrase.

For example, if the quote-indicator phrase is %f>%_ then the resulting quoted
text might be as follows:

FD> The text and a phonetic version of the text would be sent to both your
FD> pigeonholes and a CD will full instructions and pronunciation will be
 sent FD> to one of you for you both to share. These will all be available
 at least a FD> week prior to your reading.

It would be best if the quoted text could be re-wrapped so that the
quote-indicator phrase appears at the start of each line. I have Smart
Quoting enabled, but it can't seem to cope when the quote indicator is more
than two characters long.

Package: kwalletmanager
Version: 4:3.5.2-1+b2
Severity: minor

After a fresh install, the "wallet" subsystem is disabled, and "New
Wallet" does nothing at all. I had to first enable the subsystem, and
then "New Wallet" worked as expected.

If "New Wallet" is not going to do anything, it should give a brief
message like "Cannot create wallet because the wallet subsystem is
currently disabled; would you like to enable it now?"

Umbrello has a strange effect that all labels (including menu bar

Severity: normal

When browsing files with Konqueror, user starts usually with URL
"system:/home". Ark functions included in Konqueror's context menus
can't handle such URLs. For example if I select "Compress -> Compress as
somepackage.tar.gz", Ark opens the "Please wait" window, but it lasts
forever. No package is created. Compressing from context menus works
just fine, if Konqueror's location URL is traditional /home/user/ path.

Package: kdemultimedia-kio-plugins
Version: 4:3.5.4-1
Severity: grave
Justification: causes non-serious data loss

The default command line configuration, or any modification of it
accessible through kcontrol interface, will spawn lame with the -x
option.
This results in mp3 files containing almost white noise like sounds, at
least on this powerpc arch, with lame version 3.96.1.

Omitting this switch, the very same operation succeds. The option
however is not accessible to the user.

Suggested patch:
Omit the -x switch

Longer term solution:
Make the final command line accessible to the user, at least as an
editable entry in ~/.kde/share/config/kcmaudiocd_encoder_lame_rc.
Something like kaudiocreatorrc "commandLine" option would be much more
flexible.

Bug#570977: Please provide way to customize default favorites list for new users

2010-02-22 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

Package:  kdebase-workspace-bin
Version:  4:4.3.4-3
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
UserTags: debian-edu

In Debian Edu, we want to change the list of applications showing up
in the default favorites list for new users. One way to do this is to
create a file kickoffrc, but this only allow us to replace the current
list, not only append to the current list. Looking at the source, I
trace the default list to this function ion
plasma/applets/kickoff/core/favoritesmodel.cpp:

static QList defaultFavorites()
{
QList applications;
applications << "konqbrowser" << "kmail" << "systemsettings" <<
"dolphin";

QList desktopFiles;

foreach (const QString& application, applications) {
KService::Ptr service = KService::serviceByStorageId("kde4-" +
application + "
.desktop");
if (service) {
desktopFiles << service->entryPath();
}
}

return desktopFiles;
}

The list of default entries are hardcoded in the source, as far as I
can see, to konqueror, kmail, system settings and the dolphin file
browser. Can this code be changed to allow us to add some entries to
a directory that will show in in the default favorites list?

With KDE 3, we could do something similar for the KDE panel list by
adding a replacement share/apps/kicker/default-apps. It would be
great if a similar or better feature is made available for KDE 4.

Happy hacking,

((xcb_req) - (dpy->request)) >= 0)' failed.

Crashes seem random, and I have no idea how to reproduce them.

I would say it does. A large message takes a very long time to load. A
megabyte message appears to cripple kmail, though it will eventually be
displayed and be just fine.

1. Kmail has threading problems. Has gotten better but can still be crashed
due to threading.
2. Maybe messages need by rendered in background threads leaving GUI
responsive. So I start out seeing the first part and so on. Needs fixing of
1st problem first :-)

I tested this with LTSP using kmix version 4:4.34-1, and it do not
work on the thin client there either. The kmix window show no mixer
at all, even thought sound work with KDE (the login sound is played).

Raising severity to important to reflect this new information and the
fact that it affect KDE 4 in Squeeze, and affect a lot of users
without making it unusable for everybody.

This bug affect Debian Edu, making it harder to document how users
should change the sound volume, as the same method (use kmix) do not
work everywhere.

Happy hacking,

Package: kitchensync
Severity: wishlist
Version: 4:3.5.9-2

Hi,

there are two patches in KDE bugzilla from the Mandriva people to make
kitchensync work better with Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices,

http://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&bug_status=NEW&bug_status=ASSIGNED&bug_status=REOPENED&emailreporter1=1&emailtype1=exact&email1=awilliam...@mandriva.com

http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=23957&action=view
http://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=23956&action=view

While barry is not in Debian (yet), the synce plugin is, and this will
enable KDE users syncing those devices (at least theoretically, some
kernel patches for zero-config integration might still be pending, I am
not the synce maintainer).

thanks,

Michael

libremotekonnector.so is needed to sychronize two seperate installations of
Kontact, yet it isnt included anymore since etch. Either
you didnt add the install compile time option or kde (re)moved that
functionality (please tell me where they moved it, if so)

Package: kitchensync
Version: 4:4.1.0-1
Severity: important

(retrying report, originally tried to report 05 Aug 2008 20:30:36 +0200)
Hello,

for quite some time KitchenSync was crashing for me, and I did not
understand why. I have tried deleting kitchensync and opensync
configurations, to no avail. I did not report this before since I had no
time to help debugging.

Today I managed to start KitchenSync successfully. What have I done?

Well, here's what:
===
Removing kdepim-kio-plugins ...
Removing opensync-plugin-kdepim ...
Removing libkmime2 ...
Removing libkdepim1a ...
Removing libkcal2b ...
Removing libktnef1 ...
Selecting previously deselected package kjots.
Unpacking kjots (from .../kjots_4%3a4.1.0-1_i386.deb) ...
Selecting previously deselected package libopensync1exp4.
Unpacking libopensync1exp4 (from
.../libopensync1exp4_0.36+r3307-1_i386.deb) ...
Preparing to replace opensyncutils 0.36-2 (using
.../opensyncutils_0.36+r3307-1_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement opensyncutils ...
Preparing to replace akonadi-server 0.82.0-1 (using
.../akonadi-server_1.0.0-2_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement akonadi-server ...
=
Sadly I have no idea which one of these might be the issue. My guess is
OpenSync-Plugin-KDEPIM since it's for KDE 3.5.9, or perhaps the fact
that KJots was not installed.

Personally I do not think upgrade to Akonadi-Server or OpenSyncUtils had
significance, and since libOpenSync1exp4 is (I guess) binary
incompatible with 1exp3 which is a dependency of KitchenSync, I suppose
installing it had any significance either.

I did NOT install the entire kdepim package since I do not need all
stuff in kdepim, besides, I dislike selecting such dummy packages with
sole purpose of installing tons of its dependencies; that makes
finetuning harder.

Hope this helps.

Hello! I cannot reproduce this behavior with KMail 4:4.3.4-2. Could you please
check that this bug is still valid for a newer version? Even the one currently
in testing would be fine.

Regards, Lisandro.
