I can confirm this. I see the same after executing the command you sent me.
The orientation seems to be stored correctly in the file, but konqueror fails
to heed it. kuickshow does fine.

Ah, that's it. Re-Installed it and everything is just as it used to be. I
vaguely remember that this package was deselected when the first chunk of the
KDE 3.3 upgrade came it. I concluded it was absorbed into some other package
back then.

So maybe kuickshow should Suggests: kdegraphics-kfile-plugins.
But that's a minor issue. The konqueror issue seems more important and
strange. Maybe it's the order of the EXIF tags that varies between files
created by the digicam and imagemagick that confuses konqueror but not
kuickshow...

No problem. I rescaled it using imagemagick this way:

convert -resize 250x200 IMG_0791.JPG thumb.jpg

The strange thing, is that kuickshow shows it rotated (vertically), but
konqueror shows it horizontally in the preview.

This doesn't happens to me.

OK, then, i think you are missing a package that I have installed, and that is
the responsible of the rotating. Can you check if you have installed the
kdegraphics-kfile-plugins?

If you have, please provide the output of apt-cache showpkg kuickshow. You can
also try to run debsums kdegraphics and see if all is OK.

Thanks.

My kuickshow is rotating nice. Can you please provide more information? Can
you post an image that you think should be rotated, but it isn't?

Thanks.

Bug#268893: kuickshow no longer auto-rotates images from a digicam

2004-08-29 Thread Nadine
Package: kuickshow
Version: 4:3.3.0-1.1

I just noticed that kuickshow no longer automatically rotates the images I
take with my digicam. It used to get the orientation from the EXIF info and
rotate the image accordingly.
I THINK this is since my upgrade to 3.3.0.
