Currently -8 is in testing, and the diff between -8 and -10 is enormous,
including some massive code changes that are not documented in the
changelog. Rejected.

It looks like a removal might be reasonable right now, but I really

The package is not in testing, and requests to remove unstable packages
need to be filed as bug against the ftp.debian.org pseudo-package, so

After re-reviewing the entire package (not just the debdiff I reviewed
before) I tend to decline this request and will request the removal of
it from testing.

Rationale: It relies on screen scraping. This is the same case for
releaseforge. So both packages are more similar than I initially
thought. It has been observed that remote websites change. I hold
the assertion that packages relying on websites not changing at all
in structure may not be included in a stable release as they might
get broken too easily.

If there was actually an API involved all would have been fine, but
like this it should be included in volatile or backports instead.

Sorry,
Philipp Kern

I just uploaded a new version, 1.8.5+1-3, which I hope will fix the
remaining issues. This version may also fix the long-standing problem
with support for ia64.

For now, I've still left ia64 out of the architectures list, but if
the fix works, we may be able to change the packages to all.

I uploaded jd package (1:2.0.0-080722-1) at 2008-07-23, and updated package
(1:2.0.0-080722-2) just changes including debian/README.source to comply
 Debian Policy 3.8.0.

So it qualifies for lenny, I think.

 # and no packages depend jd, so there is no wrong effect for our lovely Lenny

Thanks for clarification. I would simply like to state that if
deliciousapi is allowed to propogate, then releaseforge ought to be as
well. Perhaps even moreso since releaseforge was already previously in
a stable release where deliciousapi was not. To me, the fact that
releaseforge was already in a stable release makes it more important to
provide a supported upgrade path to users by allowing it into Lenny.

The discussion that lead to the removal of releaseforge went something
like:

- releaseforge is broken W.R.T. the new SourceForge site changes
- I mentioned that a new upstream release fixes it
- An exception was denied
- I requested removal from Lenny when I was told that "Pushing an
untested package into the frozen lenny is not an option, so
removal seems to be the most reasonable course." [0]
- This was even after I pointed to the very limite changes in the
upstream release and the fact that releaseforge had been part of a
stable release already, meaning that its removal would unfairly leave
  users stranded.

Please note, I am not trying to argue that swfdec0.6 ought to be removed
from Lenny. I am simply asking for a policy of consistency from the
release team. Especially given that several new upstream releases of
packages of far greater importance (I mean samba and openssh are
probably of critical importance to the majority of Debian users) are
being allowed in.

Regards,

-Roberto

Please remove pidgin-msn-pecan package.

2008-08-10 Thread Devid Antonio Filoni
Hi,
I'm the maintainer of pidgin-msn-pecan package. The package is now
called msn-pecan (as requested by upstream) and it is in unstable. So
is possible to remove pisgin-msn-pecan package?

Thanks,

any chance to unblock jinja2 2.0-1 ?

2008-08-10 Thread Piotr Ożarowski
Hi,

I uploaded jinja2 (jinja successor, doesn't conflict with jinja package)
on 2008-07-20 (before the freeze) but it stuck in NEW for some time.
Is there any chance to unblock this package or is it too late?

Freeze exception request: kde4libs 4.1.0-3

2008-08-10 Thread Fathi Boudra
Hi,

Please could you make a freeze exception for kde4libs 4.1.0-3 ?

kdelibs/kdepimlibs/kdebase-runtime in Lenny is targeting people that want to
run/build/develop applications for KDE 4. With current kde4libs (4.1.0-2), we
can't build kdevplatform/kdevelop4 and we have already a bug report against
it. This version updates kross to version 11, thus fix the build of
kdevplatform and kdevelop4.

The package wasn't uploaded yet, I would like an ACK before uploading.

changelog entry below:

kde4libs (4:4.1.0-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Update kross to version 11 (r838337). Fix build of latest kdevplatform
and kdevelop4 (Closes: #491272).

cheers,

Fathi

please unblock sqlalchemy 0.4.7p1-1

2008-08-10 Thread Piotr Ożarowski
Hi,

Please unblock sqlalchemy 0.4.7p1-1. It's a new upstream release but only
3 lines of code[1] are changed (4 including version change).

Please note that 0.4.* releases are just a bug fix releases, development
version of SQLAlchemy (0.5.x series) is already in experimental.

I'm attaching diffstat and
`debdiff sqlalchemy_0.4.7{,p1}-1.dsc | filterdiff -x '*/doc/*' -x '*/test/*'`
output.

BTW: I'm using this version since 2008-08-01, I uploaded it to unstable
recently due to 0.4.7-1 transition.

Well, it has already been removed. It was hinted out by dato.

But let me make sure that I understand what is going on.

deliciousapi 1.5.0 was allowed in to Lenny [0]:
 6 files changed, 551 insertions(+), 340 deletions(-)

Without letting this in to Lenny, deliciousapi would have been usesless
to users for the entire life of Lenny.

openssh 5.1p1 was allowd into Lenny [1]:
 197 files changed, 11159 insertions(+), 3564 deletions(-)

Colin noted: "I've had a lot of requests for OpenSSH 4.9 or better in
lenny, since it adds the much-clamoured-for ChrootDirectory feature."

So, not even fixing bugs, but providing a new desirable feature.

swfdec 0.6.8 was allowed into Lenny [2]:
 158 files changed, 4837 insertions(+), 4879 deletions(-)
Excluding changes to tests and docs:
 24 files changed, 100 insertions(+), 35 deletions(-)

Withholding these fixes would not have made the package useless for
 current users.

samba 3.2.1 was allowed into Lenny [3]:
 56 files changed, 774 insertions(+), 517 deletions(-)

Additionally, vorlon noted: "while this is not guaranteed to be a
bugfix only branch, the changes here are not extraneous."

The changes to releaseforge look like this:
 19 files changed, 381 insertions(+), 192 deletions(-)

Of that, only 128 lines is not related to #492933. The unrelated
change has to do with handling Multipart POST so that text (uploaded
for changelog, release notes and project news) can be properly
encoded and not let things like ampersands cause failed uploads.

So, I could back out the 128 lines for the multipart post handling, but
in the spirit of allowing fixes to unfiled important bugs into Lenny, I
think that it should be left in.

Besides, removing releaseforge from testing now leaves its Etch users
without a working supported upgrade path and without a working package
 in the release at all.

Since deliciousapi was allowed to go into Lenny (instead of being
removed like releaseforge), I would like to ask for some consistency on
the part of the release team.

Regards,

-Roberto

* Update french and ukrainian translations.
* Update credits in the About box.
* Fix Availability restrictions of UserActions. (Closes: #492955)
  * Bump compat/debhelper to 6.
  * Switch to quilt patch system: add quilt build dependency.
  * Use su-to-root instead of kdesu. Add menu dependency. (Closes: #479821)
  * Bump Standard-Version to 3.8.0 (no changes needed).
  * Use Vcs-Browser and Vcs-Svn fields.

udebs needs to be synced manually. In this case, if a package only has
udebs, it won't migrate at all through britney, as there are no regular
debs to check (`localechooser has no binaries on any arch').

The source will migrate with the next britney run. Thanks for letting
us know.

As you probably noticed, this is a new upstream version from the stable branch,
which makes minor adjustments to compile in Ada 2005 mode (as opposed to Ada
95). This mode is the new default with gnat-4.3.

I investigated the diffstat further and found that:
- the new documentation accounts for 59312 insertions (it did not exist in
1.6.1).
- Many insertions/deletions were CVS "$Id:", "Last Modified On:" and "Revision:"
lines;
- Most of the actual changes consisted in adding the keyword "constant" to
variable declarations. The compiler is happy with these changes, as it would
previously warn that these variables were never changed and should be declared
constant.

The reason why the package was removed from testing was #471619, which this
upload fixes.

There are no reverse-dependencies in Debian, and even if there were, the soname
change takes care of that.

Removing gnade from Debian would be a disservice to users, as this is the only
database interface for Ada in Debian. So, what should I do to provide gnade in
Lenny? Or is my explanation enough for you to reconsider?

As far as I know and understand, the package has been hinted to enter

Luk did not deny it. He just said that it will probably need point
releases to add new ones. (Which should hopefully happen every six
weeks.)

Given the pecentage of packages translated for some languages it would
be nice if new translations could be added after the release. Not
saying we have to, but it's good for the motivation.

Request for freeze exception for spamprobe 1.4d-5 and jython 2.2.1-2

2008-08-10 Thread Nicolas Duboc

  Hi,

Please allow spamprobe 1.4d-5 and jython 2.2.1-2 packages to migrate
from unstable to testing.

spamprobe 1.4d-5 adds an updated Swedish translation for debconf
templates. (diff attached)

jython 2.2.1-2 fixes a typo in the Recommends control fields. This typo
in the current lenny version makes its Recommends unsatisfiable; which is
contrary to Lenny release goals (diff attached).

 Thanks,

xine-lib bug fixes for lenny

2008-08-10 Thread Darren Salt
The attached patches are proposed for xine-lib 1.1.14-2.

9478: v4l segfault fix (free(), null dereference)
9518: avoid Xv deinterlacer image corruption on some chipsets
9519: v4l buffer overflow fix (pre-allocation too early)
9520: v4l CVBS & S-Video input fix
9521: corrupt media file segfault (Windows Media)
9522: MP3 metadata mishandling segfaults (bug 491671)
9529: corrupt media file segfault (Ogg) (bug 492870)
9531: needed to fix a bug introduced in 9521
9536: corrupt media file segfault (AVI)
9537: corrupt media file segfault (Windows Media again)

9518 and 9520 are the only ones about which I'm unsure, but I'd still prefer
to include them and have 1.1.4-2 in lenny.

There are still a few unfixed crasher bugs; once we've fixed them upstream,
I'll post again or just upload and request an unblock, depending on what
people say...

Please uploaded ASAP, grub2 cannot build without regressions in buildds
(or pbuiders) until a fixed unifont is available.

Yeah, and it can always be retrieved from previous versions of the
package, but what matters is that it must be abailable on the archive
for grub2 to be able to use it in automated buildds.

Actually, this already happened. See #494460.

I'll do a new upload soon, built against the version in Lenny (or -2 if
it's already in sid).

avr-libc

2008-08-10 Thread Hakan Ardo
Hi,
I've uploaded version 1.6.2.cvs20080610-2 of avr-libc to unstable
which adds build-depends on texlive-extra-utils and thereby closes RC
bug #493454. Nothing else is changed.

Freeze exception: sane-backends-extras 1.0.19.10

2008-08-10 Thread Julien BLACHE
Hi,

sane-backends-extras 1.0.19.10 adds back configuration files that went
AWOL at the start of the 1.0.19 branch due to a build system change
that I did not account for for some reason.

It also fixes (1.0.19.9) typos and hyphen vs. minus sign issues in a
manpage.

sane-backends-extras (1.0.19.10) unstable; urgency=low

  * backend/epkowa.conf.in, backend/geniusvp2.conf.in,
backend/hp_rts88xx.conf.in:
+ Add back config files that went AWOL beginning with the 1.0.19 branch
  (closes: 493133).

sane-backends-extras (1.0.19.9) unstable; urgency=low

  * doc/sane-epkowa.man:
+ Fix typos, patch from Stéphane Blondon (closes: #493137).
+ Fix hyphen vs. minus sign issues reported by lintian.

Freeze exception: iaxmodem 1.1.1~dfsg-2

2008-08-10 Thread Julien BLACHE
Hi,

iaxmodem 1.1.1~dfsg-2 fixes a bug in the way the daemon drops
privileges; the code called setegid() after seteuid(), causing the
setegid() call to fail leaving the daemon running under the original
group.

This is the only change in this version.

iaxmodem (1.1.1~dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/01_seteuid_setegid_ordering.dpatch:
+ Added; call setegid() before seteuid() when dropping privileges, otherwise
setegid() will fail once we're no longer root.
