Bug#603337: unblock: exim4/4.72-2

2010-11-13 Thread Andreas Metzler
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

Please unblock package exim4. The changes are rather small:

* 40_dkimnotinpaniclog.diff pulled from upstream git. Stop logging
  non-critical DKIM errors in paniclog. Closes: #567876

Exim4's paniclog is reserved for serious issues. I could really like
to see this in squeeze.

* Debconf translations updates: dk, ru.
* Documentation updates:
  + fix exim4-config_files man page, mention
{host|sender}_local_deny_exceptions instead of
local_{host|sender}_whitelist. Thanks to Fabien André in #578176
  + Re-work config.autogenerated header to more exactly reflect
configuration source. (mh) Closes: #593984

Some minor stuff:
* add !acl = acl_local_deny_exceptions to defer stanzas in SPF code.
  Thanks to Fabien André. Closes: #578176
* Fix getopt invocation to make update-exim4.conf.template -o work. (Thank
  you Matthew W. S. Bell) Closes: #590333

That’s what happens when you send the mail without checking the dput

This should be fixed in a few minutes.

Hi,

Please unblock package pommed

pommed v1.35 contains a fix for a crasher (can't trigger on a standard Debian
system with a stock Debian kernel) and adds support for the MacBook Air
laptops released in mid-October. This is a low impact update; you can review
the changes in the git tree, between the 1.34 and 1.35 tags:
 http://git.debian.org/?p=pommed/pommed.git

unblock pommed/1.35~dfsg-1

Thanks,

JB.

Please unblock package brltty. This integrates upstream braille table

The part of the report about not setting/passing CXXFLAGS is still
present, afaict, so noopt doesn't quite work. Also you're using
findstring to parse DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS instead of filter. I'm also not
sure how you're getting CFLAGS passed to the build, but it seems to
work somehow...  Anyway, unblocked.

  Question I have is, would it be alright to make an upload of the package

 The packaging changes make the diff a bit of a pain, but yeah, go ahead.

  Finally, are there other packages we know have limited security support,

 You may want to mention that openjdk-6 and sun-java-6 don't receive
 security support/updates. I'm not sure if whether this is a security
 team policy decision, or whether its simply a de facto state due to lack
 of interest. The last DSA for openjdk was in April 2009 even though
 there have been about 100 CVEs issued for it since then.

Florian has been looking into openjdk support so he may have to say something
about that.

The situation with sun-java-6 is not quite as you describe - although due to
its non-freeness we've not been able to present updates as DSA's, we have been
able to have the security releases in the Lenny point releases for a while
now. I see no reason to continue that into Squeeze. As the status of non-free
security support is already considered to be known to our users I think we
need not mention sun-java explicitly in the release notes.

Cheers,
Thijs

OK.

   This, from main/events.c, looks obviously wrong, however:

   +   home-zombie_period_start.tv_sec = home-last_packet;
   +   home-zombie_period_start.tv_sec = USEC / 2;

   Presumably the second tv_sec should be tv_usec.

Yes, ouch.

   Yeah, that sounds like it to me, too. That change came in this commit
   http://github.com/alandekok/freeradius-server/commit/f8bcc0fe
   which actually probably fixed a fatal crash (the assert call removed
   because Don't check home-ev due to race conditions.), so that's still
   probably better than one randomized zombie period start (which can
   get reset and/or ignored soon enough anyway) which is why nobody else
   noticed.

   Alan, is this correct?

Yes.  I'll commit a fix.

 Josip, Alan's fix has been commited:

I hereby want to request the unblock of plasma-widget-yawp/0.3.5-1.

 .
   * New upstream release, including:
 - Fix of a potential legal issue, and
 - several data-handling issues (e.g. pressure and sunset/-rise).
   * debian/rules:
 - Removed override_dh_strip and added --dbg-package to general dh
   invocation.
 - Made (almost all) overrides --parallel aware.
   * debian/source/options: Ensure BZip2 compression.
   * debian/control: Bumped Standards-Version to 3.9.1, no further changes
 needed.
   * debian/copyright: Added Shawn Starr as another upstream author (for Ions).

Upload to unstable and freeze exception for tilecache

2010-11-13 Thread David Paleino
Dear Release Team,
I'm writing to you because of #602932 .
The e-mail address for the maintainer in debian/control doesn't work (he now
works for another company, AFAICT). I already adopted the package with a new
version in experimental.

Would it make sense to make an upload only changing debian/control Maintainer
and Uploaders fields?

Thank you,
David

  Ben's original lists included some files which we don't appear to be

 The question is whether pruning following files suffices:

Apologies if this question has already been asked (I couldn't find the

kfreebsd-* kernel be of removing all of the files which were originally
mentioned in Ben's mails in this bug report, and is that an option which
has been considered by the porters?

fwiw, if the current firmware-loading mechanism could be extended to
support using the firmware-* packages, the SRMs would be prepared to
look at introducing the updated mechanism - and any necessary new
firmware packages - as part of a Squeeze point release, if desired /

Looks like we should drop gdisk for squeeze

2010-11-13 Thread Steve McIntyre
Hi,

gdisk 0.5.1-1 is currently in squeeze and sid and has the RC bug
#599437 open against it. There's a new upstream version available
(0.6.13), but the change is huge (39 files changed, 9069
insertions(+), 2593 deletions(-)); IMHO the changes are far too large
for an update now.

The code in the older version of gdisk looks nasty, I'll be honest,
and I would rather see it removed. Small popcon usage and no rdeps.

Guillaume, I know you have the new upstream version waiting on a
sponsor. I might be persuaded to sponsor that for you targetting
post-squeeze.

The version of libdc0 in unstable (0.3.23-1) fails to build from source on
armel. This is preventing the transition of the newer version to testing.
However, the failure appears to be in code which is present in the version in
testing, just not *tested*.

The website for the package (http://wxdcgui.sourceforge.net/) suggests that
this library is obsolete and recommended against.

I therefore suggest we remove it from testing before we end up having to
support it in a stable release.

From previous experience, I'd guess that the problem is:

   couchdb |0.9.0-1 |  unstable | source, hurd-i386

which is leading the BTS to report to britney that unstable is affected
by the bug. Either the hurd binaries need removing from unstable, or a
force hint will need to be used to instruct britney to ignore the bug.

the kdepim 4.4 stable tree. Unfortunately, the diff is quite noisy because
upstream took a hammer approach at fixing probable encoding issues and disabled
implicit C++ null-terminated string to Q*String object conversation:

This obviously broke building so as a result, you see a bunch of changes like
this all over the place:

-mConfig = new KConfig( kaddressbookrc );

which are harmless. The interesting part is documented in the changelog. As you
see, there are a bunch of crash fixes there:

which would be useful to have in Squeeze.

BTW, there is also kdepim-runtime[2] 4.4.7 in unstable which has no upstream
code changes, just a version bump. Unblock it if you choose to unblock kdepim

Re: Bug#594940: Includes binary-only and obfuscated C code

2010-11-13 Thread Petr Salinger

what would the effect on the
kfreebsd-* kernel be of removing all of the files which were originally
mentioned in Ben's mails in this bug report, and is that an option which
has been considered by the porters?

From my (non-DD) POV, the most problematic are network drivers

sys/dev/txp/3c990img.h
- binary is packaged in firmware-linux-nonfree as /lib/firmware/3com/typhoon.bin

sys/dev/fxp/rcvbundl.h
- binaries are packaged in firmware-linux-nonfree as /lib/firmware/e100/*

For our port is very important to release. It would be better to release
even without any of these drivers compared to not release at all ...

fwiw, if the current firmware-loading mechanism could be extended to
support using the firmware-* packages, the SRMs would be prepared to
look at introducing the updated mechanism - and any necessary new
firmware packages - as part of a Squeeze point release, if desired /
required.

Could be the plan:

1) drop all files from Ben's mail, repackage .orig.tgz, disable drivers
2) upload into sid and ask for propagation into squeeze
3) start extending firmware-loading mechanism
4a) upload into sid and ask for propagation into squeeze
4b) upload into stable-proposed-updates

Whether 4a or 4b depends on our timing.

I have to note, that this is my personal planing,
not planing of whole porter group, but I expect they would agree.

Petr

forward and backports will probably follow for wheezy. Probably there
wasn't enough man power to do it for squeeze, at least this is how I
see the situation with backports -- which is exactly in the same
situation as volatile archive was for lenny with the difference that
the backports archive has less restrictions (also a good thing).

The only issue that I can see with the current implementation
regarding stable/security/volatile/backports is report on bug #602390
[1].

Thanks

 Of course we'll wait until Debian 6.0 is released anyway (there are no
 packages yet in volatile or backports).

It might be called -updates. It will be maintained by the Stable Release
Managers in any case.

I.e. the discussions with ftp-masters about the name are sadly not resolved
yet. (Our fault. I was unaware that it's exported already, though.)

Freeze exception for csound?

2010-11-13 Thread Felipe Sateler
Dear release team,

Recently, a bug was reported against csound (#603321), which was
already fixed in upstream CVS. The bug is severity: normal, although
one could argue for a higher severity given that it segfaults whenever
using a certain opcode.

Here is the entire patch:

Description: Acquire bus lock at init time
 Otherwise we get segfaults when trying to use it at perf time
Origin: upstream, commit:1.40
Bug-Debian: http://bugs.debian.org/603321

+ CSOUND_AUDIO_CHANNEL | CSOUND_OUTPUT_CHANNEL);
   p-h.opadr = (SUBR) chnclear_opcode_perf;

 }

Would this be acceptable for squeeze? If not, I will not upload to
leave the window open for a possible RC bug fix via unstable.

 Geez, I can't believe I dropped this. I will, thanks for noticing!

I just uploaded -3.

  I can also remove that, I doubt anyone ever used it, ever. I can remove

  package, would you let it go to squeeze?

 Yes.

Just re-uploaded without madt, the -3 revision is already built.
