Explanation for the bug and patch: PAM used to depend on libcap2, so
the corresponding files had to be copied into the chroot. That has
changed (in 2007 apparently), and there are systems where libcap2 isn't
installed, and the script fails on them. In “real-world” systems the
risk is small because ntp (which is commonly installed on servers) pulls
in libcap2, but the bug exists nevertheless.

  Thanks,

Roland.

The queue will be frozen one week before the set date, i.e. on November 20th.

ASAP on `debian-rele...@lists.debian.org'. Another d-i respin is in the

Arg! I almost miss this.

I've just uploaded base-files_5lenny8. If autobuilders are unable to
catch up at this point, there is always the option of cross-compiling
(I remember we did that at least once in the past).

I'm very sorry for the delay. Hope it is not too late.

Thanks.

Please unblock package developers-reference

It's “just” a documentation and translation update. Most of the changes
are already online for quite some time.
developers-reference-ja has been (re-)added since most chapters have
been completed (only html and txt built, thus modified debian/rules and
debian/control) and po4a addenda support has been added (thus modified
Makefile, between other minor changes in Makefile).

 Ferenc Wagner wf...@niif.hu writes:

 Russ Allbery r...@debian.org writes:

 Ferenc Wagner wf...@niif.hu writes:

 Maybe invoke-rc.d --quiet apache2 restart || [ $? -eq 100 ] ?

 Ah, that's a good idea. I didn't realize invoke-rc.d had a special
exit status for a missing script.

But anyway, can the Shibboleth module be enabled when Apache isn't
installed? The restart is already protected by this check:

 if [ -f /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/shib2.load ] ; then
 invoke-rc.d apache2 restart
 fi

I think it can if Apache is then removed (but not purged)

Sure, but this isn't a problem, because if /etc/apache2/mods-enabled is
present, then /etc/init.d/apache2 is also present[1], and quietly
returns success if the actual daemon is not installed.

[1] Well, at least they belong to the same package, but they are under
/etc, so may be freely changed by the system administrator. I don't
think we should care for such pathologic cases.

Michael Biebl bi...@debian.org writes:

the apache init script already has a status method, why don't you use

 invoke-rc.d apache2 status /dev/null 21 invoke-rc.d apache2 restart

I like this idea. Any objections against the following code?

if [ -f /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/shib2.load ] ; then
if invoke-rc.d apache2 status /dev/null ; then
invoke-rc.d apache2 restart

fi

I decided to swap s for readability and || true for keeping the exit
status of the restart operation should we decide to actually try that.

lilypond in squeeze

Hi Don,
lilypond in sid seems to fix several RC bugs [1] [2] [3], but has a rather
intimidating diffstat compared with the version in squeeze (a new upstream
version), and appears to have failed repeatedly on s390 (possibly not
lilypond's fault, it looks like fontforge dying). Do you have any plans for
how to fix these RC bugs for squeeze? Are the fixes feasible to backport, for
instance?

testing-proposed-updates for you to either accept or reject. I hope
that's okay -- I know it requires manual intervention either way, so I'm

Although the upload closes #593799 it has a new upstream
version and some major changes, so I'm a little bit hesitant in
unblock this without a second opinion.

   Upstream site http://blog.jwchat.org/download/ says the
1.3.2 happened back in 2008, the Package QA shows the package is
 untouched since end 2008.

Sorry for the late response. We have just backported our fixes to the
previous upstream version.

  * Is it really better to have a new upstream without any
tests at this point? Or, can you elaborate a little bit of why
it would be important to have a new untested upstream version
at this point?

Unfortunately, it was only after packaging this new upstream version in
response to the RC bug that we realized it fixes a bug when interacting
with some other XMPP clients. Best would be that we open it and close
with the new upstream version.

  * Can you provide a backport to 1.3.1 that would fix the non-free
bug?

Right now, we have decided to go that way, since the new upstream
version does some code changes. Although we have tested it under a
deployment of ours, that's not as good as Debian coverage.

It's at http://people.debian.org/~metal/jsjac/.

I have just uploaded a new revision of kde4libs to fix incorrect Replaces with

includes debian/changelog clean up (for versions which have never been uploaded
to archive) and correction of Vcs-* fields, which both are harmless and are a
consequence of switching our packaging VCS.

After some thought, I'm not convinced that we should be shipping an

Version 1.5.4 of the autodocktools is already in lenny. But the advent
of Python 2.6 it was not prepared for, which led to the recent submission
of a series of serious bug reports (#596318 to #596325 and earlier ones).
In some unfortunate redundant effort those have been addressed by
d...@d.o (performing an NMU) and pi...@d.o (performing fixes in the
debian med svn). As the maintainer I have been in frequent contact with
upstream, whose work on 1.5.6 has sadly not made it for the freeze
and the cvs showing too many difficulties.

I was today now uploading the very latest of the 1.5.4 branch, i.e. the
official release. For best possible communication of our users with upstream,
I did not want to perform partial updates. Everyone should rest assured that
they get what upstream wants them to have.

Talking back to upstream, not functional changes have been performed, but
some smaller glitches corrected and upstream is aware of Python 2.6, which
was not the case for the previous version from June last year. So, for
compatibility with Python 2.6, we have

 * work by doko, pjotr and myself on the Debian front
 * work by upstream from their scm

 Please unblock package autodocktools

The version currently in the archive still has the dependency on
python 2.5. This has been resolved. In a previous attempt to upload
this package I had stupidly already referenced the package
mgltools-scenario2 as a dependency, i.e. my internal backport had
 failed.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

It seems that we failed to reply within an appropriate delay (and no one
pinged us about it). autodocktools won't be unblocked for Squeeze I'm
afraid, since it's quite late now.

Re: lilypond in squeeze

lilypond in sid seems to fix several RC bugs [1] [2] [3], but has a rather
intimidating diffstat compared with the version in squeeze (a new upstream
version), and appears to have failed repeatedly on s390 (possibly not
lilypond's fault, it looks like fontforge dying). Do you have any plans for
how to fix these RC bugs for squeeze? Are the fixes feasible to backport, for
 instance?

The fix is to unblock lilypond. The only reason it didn't make it in
for the freeze were the failures of fontforge brought about by a new
version.

Why would one configure stuff to download a page every second?

Feel free to consider it as important/release critical or not.

I'd much rather have this trivial change than the other one for
 squeeze...

Could you please show us a diff that includes the changes acked by Julien?
or should I close this bugreport?
