Fixing php-soap for Squeeze
Hi Thierry and Ola, I'm sending this email to you guys because you are both in the debian/control of php-soap. I just sent a bug report against php-soap, because upgrading from Lenny to Squeeze is broken with this package. As discussed with the release team, adding a Pre-Depends: php-pear (= 5.3) is the way to go. Few questions: 1/ Is it ok for you to set php-pear-ma...@lists.alioth.debian.org as the new maintainer? Both Thierry and Ola would of course stay as uploaders. 2/ Can you fix this RC bug asap? Or is it ok if I do an NMU for you? Please let me know, it's important to have it fixed asap before releasing Squeeze. Of course, best would be if you could do that simple fix yourself (as I have already 3 packages with RC to fix in my todo list). Should I submit some RC bugs against these 2, and fix them in SID? Is there another package that I missed, or only these 2? There's also php-xml-parser. Each of those three packages is RC-buggy and should be fixed in sid and squeeze; for some reason I had in mind that the php-net-smtp bug came from an archive rebuild and there would therefore already be bugs for the other packages - clearly that was not the case. Nop, it was reported from someone in pkg-php-maint. I sent bugs against these 3 packages. I have just fixed php-xml-parser (and also commited the fixes that I uploaded for -2, since pabs told me how to use svn when we saw each other at the Vietnam miniDebconf). php-http-request and php-xml-parser have pkg-php-maint set as the maintainer (you're even in Uploaders for the latter) Yup, since I fixed a PHP 5.3 issue in it! :) so could presumably be fixed without having to open and then close bug reports; feel free to file reports if you're then going to fix them though. :-) I did send 3 bug reports, as I think it is more clean this way. php-xml-parser is uploaded to SID already (given the state of Testing and SID, and the type of package, it's fine to upload directly from my Squeeze laptop, right?). Feel free to unblock. For php-http-request, I don't get why my svn-buildpackage is failing. I hope that someone can help me with using SVN (which I quite dislike...). For php-soap, I think it's best to give 4 or 5 days to the current maintainers so they can fix the issue (both are DD). If they don't reply, I'll do an NMU. I'm now working on sbox-dtc (which has a stupid Unix right issue because I didn't understand how SUID worked...). Bug#605883: unblock: a bunch of KDE SC packages
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: freeze-exception Hello, I have recently made a series of uploads for fixing issues in KDE SC and I would like to get those package revisions into Squeeze. First of all, thanks for quick unblock of the following: kdebase-workspace/4:4.4.5-5 koffice/1:2.2.1-4 Now remaining packages: * unblock kdenetwork/4:4.4.5-2 This revision fixes an RC bug (#603661) which breaks kopete ICQ support for all users. AOL has recently sold ICQ and, as a result, ICQ main login server address was changed. The fix is trivial: change ICQ server address in kopete to the new one. The patch also includes an standard KDE update script for changing the address in the user config file (if present). The upload also solves circular dependency between kopete and libkopete4. This might ease a job for apt and friends during upgrades (#580044). * unblock kdepimlibs/4:4.4.5-2 While the debian bug is of normal severity (#600907), the issue might have more severe implications. After all it's a crash and memory management bug which typically are a cause of security problems. Anyway, in my opinion, the two-line patch is too trivial to be ignored. * unblock kdeaccessibility/4:4.4.5-2 When I looked at the upstream code of kttsd, I could only bang my head against the wall. Yes, it is that bad and it's beyond me how KDE project could release kttsd in that state to the users. It turns out kttsd 4.3 was just fine but they decided to port it to speech-dispacher. Rather than doing it properly, they only merged a somewhat working KTTS daemon back, commented most of configuration code out and released kttsd 4.4 in this ridiculous state leaving many configuration core and GUI elements not working. Obviously, this is not on par with expectations for Debian stable release and #599825 describes only a small fraction of problems. I considered removing kttsd from archive but it's pretty tightly integrated into KDE and it's pretty important for accessibility purposes. So in 4:4.4.5-2 you see what I had to do to restore KTTS configuration to a usable state. Patches are relatively huge, but they mostly add new or uncomment old GUI related code. Trust me, there is no other way to do this. In hope that my efforts were not wasted, I ask for unblock for this revision. P.S. This leaves Debian Qt/KDE team with two RC bugs (#582953 and #590147) on kdepim which in my opinion date as old as Debian etch. Their real cause is not known and hopes for getting them fixed are low after so many years. Bug#605895: unblock: postgresql-common/113
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: freeze-exception I just uploaded p-common 113 to fix http://bugs.debian.org/604423 . Right now, when upgrading from lenny to squeeze, the PostgreSQL obsolete version 8.3 debconf note says to upgrade to 9.0, but 9.0 isn't in testing, only in unstable. The reason is that the supported_versions map still treated testing and unstable in the same case. Sorry about having forgotten about this for so long! I now treat testing/6.0 and unstable in separate cases and only support 9.0 in unstable, so that in a lenny - squeeze upgrade the debconf note now shows 8.4 as currently supported version. I tested this in a lenny chroot. The patch is straightforward: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~pitti/postgresql/common/revision/1035 and there are no other changes in this package compared to version 112. Can this still make it into testing, please? Thank you, and have a nice weekend! Bug#605911: (future) unblock: network-manager/0.8.1-6
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: freeze-exception I just uploaded network-manager 0.8.1-6 to DELAYED/1 so the current package has a chance to migrate to testing. Hopefully this is the last upload for network-manager. It fixes two bugs in the ifupdown plugin, especially #569215 has several duplicates, so it would be nice to see those fixes in squeeze. Changelog: network-manager (0.8.1-6) unstable; urgency=low * debian/patches/40-umanaged-interfaces.patch - For devices to be marked unmanaged, do not require a valid connection configuration. (Closes: #569215) * debian/patches/50-bridge-interfaces.patch - Parse bridge configurations in /etc/network/interfaces and add interfaces defined via bridge_ports to well_known_interfaces. This allows to mark those interfaces as unmanaged if managed=false. The all keyword and regexes are not supported and simply skipped. Re: Bug#605748: Intent to NMU or help for an l10n upload of grub2 to fix pending po-debconf l10n bugs

Some bugfixes for LILO to go into Squeeze [new DM]
Hello Release Team, the CTTE disposed some days before, that I am allowed to be the new DM for the package LILO: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=587886#158 Now it would be possible to update the LILO package (based on lilo 22.8-8.3) with some bugfixes to work better within Squeeze. My question: If I create an updated LILO package for testing/squeeze, would the release team accept this new package and let it go into squeeze? I know we are in the deep freeze, but I had no possibility in the last months (see bug link above).
