It is squeeze specific because it applies to its specific 2.6.32 kernel. Background: At some point during the squeeze freeze, when the Xenomai/adeos kernel patch applied to the then-current linux kernel 2.6.32 in Debian, somehow an update to the kernel sources must have rendered the Xenomai/adeos patch not to apply anymore. Unfortunately, I didn't check it again shortly before the squeeze release. So it slipped through. So either we fix it in squeeze now, or mark the bug wontfix. (I can prepare an upload for xenomai 2.5.4-3squeeze1.) What do you think? Bug#620210: pu: package samba/2:3.5.6~dfsg3-squeeze3
Hi, Sorry for butting in on this bug, but as an affected user I was wondering when preliminary packages would be available either in squeeze-proposed-updates or somewhere else. So far, all I can see is talk, talk and a failed upload of 3.5.8 to backports, but nothing that looks like it will likely install on squeeze. (And no, the loose patch files without context or build instructions don't really help, as I would be left guessing as to how, where and when to apply them to build a usable package) So far I have just had to tell Windows 6.x users that they cannot use the new printer! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-release-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#620210: pu: package samba/2:3.5.6~dfsg3-squeeze3
Quoting Jakob Bohm (j...@wisemo.com): Hi, Sorry for butting in on this bug, but as an affected user I was wondering when preliminary packages would be available either in squeeze-proposed-updates or somewhere else. When the release team approves such an upload. We're all volunteers, they are volunteers too, so I'm patiently waiting for their input. So far, all I can see is talk, talk and a failed upload of 3.5.8 to backports, but nothing that looks like it will likely install on squeeze. Incorrect. 3.5.8 is in backports. Sorry, Sir, but I don't have any service obligation to You. I'm doing my best to maintain samba packages in Debian, with the help of a few other developers and contributors. I'm really sorry that this work doesn't fit your needs in terms of reactivity. This approach seems anyway to be fairly successful as of now, with a quite correct balance between user needs (including mine: I was also hit by the 3.5.6 problems you faced) and the technical choice of the project, such as a stable stable distribution. It probably cannot fit everybody's expectations: I don't really see what I can improve, here. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#624382: transition: KDE SC 4.6
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: transition Hello, I would like to ask for a slot to do the KDE SC 4.6 transition. It is already somewhat overdue (with respect to 4.6.0 release upstream) so doing it sooner (in a week or so) rather than later would be very appreciated. This transition would include immediate update of the following KDE SC and related source packages: * From 4:4.4.5 to 4:4.6.2 or later (stable 4.6.x series): meta-kde kde-l10n kde4libs kdeaccessibility kdeadmin kdeartwork kdebase kdebase-runtime kdebase-workspace kdeedu kdegames kdegraphics kdemultimedia kdenetwork kdepimlibs kdeplasma-addons kdesdk kdetoys kdeutils kdewebdev oxygen-icons * From 4:4.4.7 to 4:4.4.11 kdepim kdepim-runtime * KDE SC 4.6 dependencies: akonadi libktorrent polkit-kde-1 polkit-qt-1 They are in experimental at the moment. What is more, packaging got some (significant) testing from some of our users while packages were provided via external repository. Even if all KDE libraries have symbol files, rebuilt external packages might still pick up new symbols via modified inline functions in the headers. Though this technique is mostly used by Qt rather than KDE so widespread shlibs bump effect is unlikely. It's not very clear to me (personally) what to do with kdebindings but IMHO if possible, it's better to delay it sometime after this transition. This ugly beast links the whole distro together.
