I've fixed quite a few bugs including the mcstransd issue that was breaking upgrades from Squeeze. Also shortly before the freeze a number of packages were uploaded which call restorecon from their init.d scripts. If they are run with version 2.1.10-1 of policycoreutils then #662990 will hit them and play havoc with the system boot. Please unblock smarty 3.1.10-1
Hi, gosa/wheezy packages seem to be blocked by the smarty 3.1.10-1 dependency - which has missed the testing migration by a couple of hours before the freeze happened. That wasn't on my radar. Sorry :-( The problem with that: smarty 3.1.8-2 which is in testing is too buggy to run the gosa packages without adding major workarounds. Maybe other packages are affected, too (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=678095). Would it be possible to unblock smarty 3.1.10-1 and let it pass to wheezy? Freeze exeception for amavisd-new-2.7.2?
Hi, unfortunatly one of my upstreams decided to release a bugfix version this night. Are FTBS on mipsel release critical? (goobox #679554)
Hello, after a broken NMU I uploaded (before the freeze) essential the previous version with just some additional translations. For some strange reasons (the code in question has been built fine several times on all archs, including mipsel) the build now fails on mipsel (cf. #679554 and #679552). Looking at http://release.debian.org/wheezy/arch_qualify.html I'm not sure if mipsel is a release architecture. If not, I could downgrade #679554 to important. Of course, hopefully the issue (maybe a temporary glitch?) could be fixed still in time for Wheezy. So, my question: Are FTBS on mipsel (alone) RC? Thanks! Hi, The same upstream version of netapplet is in stable, testing and unstable and you didn't specify where you were asking for its removal from; I've assumed testing. Question about my package kde-config-gtk-style
(Please Cc me in replies, I am not subscribed to this mailing list) Hi, I have difficult situation with my package src:kde-gtk-config [0]. It generates binary package kde-config-gtk-style and replaces package src:kcm-gtk, which was in Squeeze [1]. The package was uploaded to unstable on June 18. But it have not migrated to testing automatically [2] because of new bug report [3] with severity grave. I should note, that this level of severity is questionable, because circular symlinks is not common situation. So nor I nor other users haven't faced with problem from that bug report. Next, I prepared [4] the updated package (on Jun 28) with such changes: kde-gtk-config (3:2.1-1) unstable; urgency=low * Update to stable release 2.1. * Deleted file debian/patches/fix-build-on-kfreebsd-and-hurd-i386: accepted in upstream. * Added file debian/patches/ignore-symlinks: prevents of possible infinite loop because of circular symlinks. (Closes: #678714) There are very few changes in upstream between versions 2.0 and 2.1: * Accepted my patch fix-build-on-kfreebsd-and-hurd-i386. * Updated translations. Unfortunately my sponsor had not time to upload the package before freeze [5]. Finally. The question is: could you grant me exception in this case? Or I will maintain the package in experimental [6]. The main point is that binary package kde-config-gtk-style is available in Squeeze and it is already installed in user systems [7]. So absent package will affect them. Question about my QA uploads
Hi, I have done some QA work and have prepared few updates for packages which are currently have no maintainers. Most of them were sponsored. But unfortunately four packages were not uploaded before freeze: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?include=subject%3A[QA];dist=unstable;package=sponsorship-requests All these updated packages include non-RC bugfixes (for important and normal bugs). Also they have improvements not related with bugs (just fixes for lintian warnings and notes). The question is: could the exception be granted in this case? If no, should I prepare uploads to experimental or just left them as is? Maybe after stable release someone will sponsor them. Freeze exception for exactimage (adopt+bugfixes; through unstable)
Hi, I wanted to plan the adoption of the package exactimage. This package was orphaned in bug #587062. A new maintainer was found in form of Daniel Stender dan...@danielstender.com. I also asked him whether I can assist him as a Co- Maintainer. As it always happens, the time until the freeze of Wheezy was getting smaller and smaller.. and then the deadline passed by. So, we ended up with an exactimage in Wheezy without an maintainer and several bugs. A possible solution is a planned freeze exception for exactimage. I've prepared an upload to mentors [1] that could be used as start of an discussion about what would be seen as acceptable by the release team. All cleanup or refactoring changes were removed and only the adopt change, the program behavior bug fixes and the libpng transition were included. Even lintian warnings about the policy changes were not fixed (3.9.2 - 3.9.3). Most of the patches are relative small and easy to understand with a little bit knowledge of the code. The only big thing standing out is the libjpeg8_compat.patch . It replaces some libjpeg62 specific files (from the libjpeg62 orig tarball) with the same files from libjpeg8 (from the libjpeg8 orig tarball) to fix the hiccups/crashes in the jpeg code related to the abi changes. It is necessary because it is not possible to build exactimage against libjpeg62-dev after the transition of libevas-dev to libjpeg-dev because this virtual package is not provided anymore by libjpeg62-dev. The libjpeg8-dev package also conflicts with libjpeg62-dev (and would create even more problems during runtime after linking both). There are many more things in the pipeline [2] (package rewrite, update to exactimage 0.8.7, hardening, ...) that I would keep for wheezy+1/experimental. I would like to get feedback from the release team before I decide how to continue with the upload. exactimage (0.8.5-5) unstable; urgency=low * debian/control: - Add Daniel Stender and Sven Eckelmann as new maintainer (Closes: #587062) - Depend on libpng-dev instead of libpng12-dev (Closes: #662317) - Depend on libjpeg8-dev to avoid hiccups with other libjpeg versions * debian/patches: - Add edentify_tga_mismatch.patch, Fix misidentification of PNM as TGA (Closes: #575324) - missing_include_vector.patch, Add missing includes for std::vector - Add libjpeg8_compat.patch, Build jpeg functionality for libjpeg8 to avoid crashes and other hiccups (Closes: #679775) - Add optimize2bw_denoise.patch, Fix optimize2bw denoise crash on 64-bit systems (Closes: #679772) Kind regards, Sven [1] http://mentors.debian.net/package/exactimage [2] http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/exactimage.git File lists identical (after any substitutions) Control files of package edisplay: lines which differ (wdiff format) Maintainer: [-Debian QA Group packa...@qa.debian.org-] {+Daniel Stender dan...@danielstender.com+} Version: [-0.8.5-4-] {+0.8.5-5+} Control files of package exactimage: lines which differ (wdiff format) -- Maintainer: [-Debian QA Group packa...@qa.debian.org-] {+Daniel Stender dan...@danielstender.com+} Version: [-0.8.5-4-] {+0.8.5-5+} Control files of package exactimage-dbg: lines which differ (wdiff format) -- Breaks: edisplay ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} edisplay ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} exactimage ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} exactimage ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} libexactimage-perl ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} libexactimage-perl ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} php5-exactimage ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} php5-exactimage ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} python-exactimage ( [-0.8.5-4),-] {+0.8.5-5),+} python-exactimage ( [-0.8.5-4)-] {+0.8.5-5)+} Installed-Size: [-86460-] {+86283+} Maintainer: [-Debian QA Group packa...@qa.debian.org-] {+Daniel Stender dan...@danielstender.com+} Version: [-0.8.5-4-] {+0.8.5-5+} Control files of package libexactimage-perl: lines which differ (wdiff format) -- Installed-Size: [-1554-] {+1555+} Maintainer: [-Debian QA Group packa...@qa.debian.org-] {+Daniel Stender dan...@danielstender.com+} Version: [-0.8.5-4-] {+0.8.5-5+} Control files of package php5-exactimage: lines which differ (wdiff format) --- Maintainer: [-Debian QA Group packa...@qa.debian.org-] {+Daniel Stender dan...@danielstender.com+} Version: [-0.8.5-4-] {+0.8.5-5+} Control files of package python-exactimage: lines which differ (wdiff format) - Maintainer: [-Debian QA Group packa...@qa.debian.org-] {+Daniel Stender dan...@danielstender.com+} Version: [-0.8.5-4-]

On that basis, the changes from both -1 and -2 are relevant to the unblock. While the changes between the current testing package and -1 aren't huge, the changelog isn't really very helpful in terms of helping me decide whether they're appropriate for an unblock as it just says new upstream version. Bug#679825: unblock: haskell-network-protocol-xmpp/0.4.3-1
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: freeze-exception Please unblock package haskell-network-protocol-xmpp A few days ago, I received an email from a user that network-protocol-xmpp fails to login to some servers when running on Debian Wheezy. This is due to some new authentication mechanisms in Wheezy's version of libgsasl, which are not being handled properly by n-p-xmpp. A new upstream version, 0.4.3, has been released which corrects the problem. The fix is the only change in 0.4.3. As a general non-freeze-specific note, please try and make your changelog entries more expansive and specific. New upstream version (Closes: #X) is only correct if the bug report was purely asking for the new upstream to be packaged; even then there may well have been a specific reason for the request, which could be detailed in the changelog. Bug#679829: britney: breakage of packages on removal of virtual packages
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal Tags: patch User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: britney Hi, As mentioned on IRC, I believe I found a bug in Britney2. As far as I can tell the bug is only triggered in certain special cases. The conditions are: * There must be a real package R and a package V in testing. * V must provide R. * Another package P must have an unversioned dependency on R and R must be unable to satisfy the relation. (e.g. R can conflict with P). * Britney must attempt to remove V. The bug happens because Britney (in register_reverse) does not record providing packages in a package's RDEPENDS if there is a real package for that given dependency. In the example above, Britney will think that V has no rdepends. This bug can be seen in the test basic-uninstallable-deep-breaks-rm-virtual (in t-unsupported) in britney2-tests. Once I have the bug number I will push a minimal test for this case as well. ~Niels From 2b00f6c27c7240546487880c8ffdd39b3a92884b Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Niels Thykier ni...@thykier.net Date: Sun, 1 Jul 2012 23:52:48 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] Always include providers of virtual packages in rdepends Signed-off-by: Niels Thykier ni...@thykier.net --- britney.py |4 ++-- 1 file changed, 2 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) diff --git a/britney.py b/britney.py index 5205f64..c456460 100755 --- a/britney.py +++ b/britney.py @@ -600,8 +600,8 @@ class Britney(object): # register real packages if a[0] in packages and (not check_doubles or pkg not in packages[a[0]][RDEPENDS]): packages[a[0]][RDEPENDS].append(pkg) -# register packages which provide a virtual package -elif a[0] in provides: +# also register packages which provide a virtual package (if any) +if a[0] in provides: for i in provides.get(a[0]): if i not in packages: continue if not check_doubles or pkg not in packages[i][RDEPENDS]: -- 1.7.10

Currently there are better options and the package lacks of upstream. I've orphaned it before since I cannot commit to act both as upstream and maintainer for a stable release, despite better options exist now for the GNOME desktop. On that basis, would it better to remove the package from unstable, rather than just testing? I'd prefer this package not to take part of the next release. So, if removing it from unstable will trigger the testing removal. I'm OK with that.
