It depends how the changes in unstable relate to those proposed for
stable. -7~deb7u1 says "this is -7 backported to wheezy" whereas -6
+deb7u1 says "this is -6 with some fixes".

Okay. In that case, -6+deb7u1 would be more accurate.

Please go ahead, with the distribution fixed as Cyril mentioned. :)

Thank you for noticing that flaw - i'll resubmit
a "tested against ruby1.8" diff later.

Bug#711557: RM: python-eggtrayicon/2.25.3-12

2013-06-07 Thread Emilio Pozuelo Monfort
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: rm

python-eggtrayicon is no longer built in unstable. However there
are still three or four rdeps in testing which prevent the new
version of the source package (gnome-python-extras) to migrate
because it doesn't build python-eggtrayicon...

As the plan is to remove python-eggtrayicon (and gnome-python-extras
completely, but that's for another day) from the archive this cycle
(we started years ago one binary at a time), let's remove it from
testing so that the few rdeps that are left get a clear idea that
either they are fixed (fixes are easy) or they won't be in jessie.

See [1] for the rdeps and their RC bugs.

Thanks,
Emilio

Am I reading the log for #700754 correctly, in that it fixes things for
Ruby 1.9 but also breaks the use of 1.8? (Which is technically a valid

What's the plan for getting this fixed in sid? The change looks okay
(although -3.3+ would presumably have sufficed) but we're getting very
close to the cut-off for 7.1 and I just spotted that there hasn't been a
sysvinit upload since the release.

No; the "collisions" section on that page is informational, it doesn't
indicate any sort of current block.

The packages haven't transitioned yet because the last binNMU for
h323plus only finished building a few hours ago and the old libraries
haven't been decrufted yet. It's in hand... :)

Release Team,

A belated transition self contained request for ptlib & opal:

If I understand correctly, is this transition held because of boost,
libx264 and libav9 transition issues, cf.
http://release.debian.org/transitions/html/libpt2.10.10.html ?!

Could not ptlib&Co be allowed to move to testing and afterwards fix
peacefully/quietly the issues with the three transitions above?

Does the RT have any opinion on which of the possible resolutions would
be acceptable/preferred for stable?

* upload 0.1.11-2+deb7u1 as-is, and accept the regression
(Ubuntu did this; Sjoerd considers this unacceptable, AIUI)

* add an "ignore SSL errors" option that reverts to the old
insecure behaviour (a small amount of new code, I would guess
  ~10 lines)

* upload 0.1.16 to wheezy (~1k lines of necessary code for
interactive certificate prompting, ~1k lines of unrelated
bugfixes and an unrelated new feature, but has actually
  been tested in this form)

* upload 0.1.16 to wheezy-backports (which should be trivial),
and upload 0.1.11-2+deb7u1 with a NEWS file noting the regression
  and suggesting the backport

* backport the certificate bits from 0.1.16 to 0.1.11
(~ 1k lines of necessary code, mostly adapted from
code in telepathy-gabble that is already in stable)

Yes, the changes hadn't been propagated to the sid branch yet. I did it
at the same time as fixing brltty.

Ok, uploaded. The actual integration will need the debian-installer
build, but AIUI it's planned at least for kernel update anyway.

Thanks,
Samuel

Just a quick reminder as winter^W the p-u-NEW freeze is coming. It would
be nice if this could be included in the upcoming point release.
