 lack of firewall support.

Now that we use a userland driver for networking, it should be easy to
interpose at least a simple BPF filter, I have added the task here:

https://savannah.gnu.org/task/index.php?12723

debian-hurd, bug-hurd: anybody up for this? The eth0 interface is
quite simple, plugging BPF into it should be easy.

Actually puppet is installable. debian-hurd: can somebody who actually
knows how to make it work test it and report bugs if any?

Bug#714532: pu: package cookie-monster/1.1.0-4+deb7u1

2013-06-30 Thread Andreas Beckmann
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

xul-ext-cookie-monster is uninstallable with the iceweasel security
update due to some unneeded Breaks. (#711847)
Only a rebuild dropping this Breaks is needed, cherry-picked from sid.

I'd prefer to see a maintainer/team upload fixing this, but if needed I
can do a NMU.

It involves source changes in digikam (and is ready in exp). No source changes
in calligra. There might be minor changes needed in some third party plasma
widgets, but they can at the worst case be dropped.

Genius, I'm not able to uninstall on the controller from the preferences menu
inside LinuxPPC, how does it work?

The point is that from DOS 6000 and from Mac you neither can debug the driver,
nor should explore with a jumper on a SCSI program over the SIMM, this way you
must close the pointer to the port to rename the MIDI OpenGL mailer.

That version number won't work, for a couple of reasons - not least
because it's _higher_ than the version you uploaded to unstable.

Please use 0.4.9+git0.4dfdaf2b-7~deb7u1 instead and feel free to upload.

Dear release team,

As a follow-up of a security bug [1], I have been advised to provide a
fix of this package through oldstable-proposed-updates. The proposed
update applies a patch from upstream which prevents possible XML denial
of service attacks by limiting the size of fetched file and disabling
XML entity expansion.

  1: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=702217

Please find attached the debdiff against the current 2.1.8debian-1
version in Squeeze.

Let me know if this is suitable for inclusion in the next update of
Squeeze.

Kind regards,

Cédric

Candidates for removal from testing (2013-06-30)

2013-06-30 Thread Niels Thykier

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

We are considering removing the following packages from testing as
they have unfixed RC bugs filed against them. The packages can be
found in the attached dd-list.

The packages have been selected based on the following criteria:
 - The package had at least one RC bug without activity for the past
   14 days.
   - If a bug is assigned to multiple packages, both packages will
 be affected[1].
 - The RC bug affects both unstable and testing.
 - The affected package does not have any reverse dependencies in
   testing.

 - One of their RC bugs had FTBFS in their title. (*)
 - The source package had a popcon inst value of 500 or less. (*)

(*) These extra filter rules was applied to keep the list down. The
original list was 246.

If the relevant RC bugs in the affected packages (those listed in
FTBFS-w-popcon-lt-500.txt) are not dealt with before the 8th of
July, the packages will be removed from testing. Note that dealt
with may also include downgrading a severity-inflated bug or fixing
affected versions in the BTS.

For reference, the original list is also included.

Thanks,
Niels (on behalf of the Release Team)

PS: This mail has been BCC'ed to pkg@packages.debian.org for
packaged listed in FTBFS-w-popcon-lt-500.txt.

After reading all the related bug reports again, it looks like lvm2 is
actually intended to work well even without udev running and this has
been implemented in wheezy via fixing the init script dependencies. So
let us backport this change to squeeze.

Unfortunately I don't know how to actually test that lvm2 works in a
udev-free squeeze. But the installation problems are gone with this
 change.

That's certainly a good start. At least some hint that it actually works
would be good though; maybe the maintainers (CCed) have some input here?

Maybe we can revisit this for the next oldstable update.
There was no feedback from the maintainers, but Pierre Ynard (the
reporter of #543163) confirmed (see #687761) that he once had a working
squeeze setup with lvm2 and no udev by removing the initscript
dependency. (He is tracking unstable nowadays and needs/needed some more
changes for getting modules loaded, but that's the price for not using
udev - and seems to be due to his special hardware setup.)

This change to the initscript won't change anything for existing squeeze
installations - either they already have lvm2 + udev installed or
manually changed the conffiles to allow lvm2 without udev.
But it would simplify my work running (sometimes weird :-) upgrade tests
to find interesting corner cases - lvm2 has a large rdep tree
requiring a lot of workarounds ...

xul-ext-firecookie is another iceweasel extension that gets
uninstallable due to the iceweasel 17.x security update.
I took a different approach than the fix in 1.4-2 in jessie/sid: my fix
for wheezy is based on the cookie-monster fix which results in a
slightly smaller binary debdiff.

I'd prefer to see a maintainer/team upload fixing this, but if needed I
can do a NMU.
