Bug#672117: transition: libextractor

2012-05-27 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Cyril Brulebois k...@debian.org (26/05/2012):
 libextractor-python | python-extractor uninstallable: #674616
 doddle | FTBFS: #674333
 fossology| FTBFS: #674381
 libextractor-java| FTBFS: #674359

(No, I didn't look into gnunet*, too much fail already.)

This also means that vdr (and dozens of related packages) can't migrate,
because it gets tied to this transition through this package:

lia id=vdr-plugin-xineliboutput
name=vdr-plugin-xineliboutputvdr-plugin-xineliboutput/a
(1.0.7+cvs20120325.0846-1 to 1.0.7+cvs20120419.2159-1)
ul
liMaintainer: Debian VDR Team
li29 days old (needed 10 days)
liInvalidated by dependency
liNot considered
liDepends: vdr-plugin-xineliboutput a href=#libextractorlibextractor/a
(not considered)
liDepends: vdr-plugin-xineliboutput a href=#vdrvdr/a
/ul

This also means that some other transitions can be removed from our
radar because the old binaries can't go away, since getting vdr in
would be needed.

Now please fix those RC bugs so that we can move on. Adding the
sponsor to the Cc list so that he can give a hand.

Alternative way of getting stuff unfucked at this point: reupload the
old package (with an epoch, or with a $foo.really-is.$bar trick), until
you're able to fix all those RC bugs?

Mraw,
KiBi.

eek.

as said yesterday on irc I will look into this today and tomorrow...

cheers,
Holger

P.S.: I'm really unimpressed by the problems I've caused. But I've checked the
rdepends and I thought this was sufficient to not cause problems... obviously
it wasn't, but now I wondering how to better prevent these things in future...

I've just successfully rebuild these on sid/amd64 with the versions in
experimental and would be willing to do QA uploads of those today to sid, if
acked here. (And I could imagine the gnunet+libextractor maintainer will pick
those up anyway and I#d be willing to sponsor those uploads as well...)

 fossology| FTBFS: #674381

fossology still fails to build, but is not in wheezy and has three other
serious bugs anyway.

cheers,
Holger

Bug#672117: transition: libextractor

2012-05-09 Thread Bertrand Marc
Hi Cyril,

2012/5/8 Cyril Brulebois k...@debian.org:
Did you a rebuild test for the reverse dependencies?

Thobias Grimm confirmed a few weeks ago that vdr-plugin-xineliboutput
builds fine with libextractor3. And at this time it seemed to me the
other reverse deps were from the GNUnet stack, so they are written by
the same dev (Christian Grothoff), and are either orphaned or RFS by
me.

And I've just asked people not to sponsor it. Please wait
until we say OK, meaning after the exiv2 transitions is over.

Ok, I didn't want to mess up with an ongoing transition. But don't you
think a 'wontfix' tag on the RFS is a bit final ? Wouldn't a simple
'blocked by' be enough ?

Cheers,
Bertrand

I didn't set that tag. And it can be removed at any time when the
situation clears up. So it's not a big deal, IMHO.

2012-05-08 Thread Bertrand Marc

Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: transition

Dear Release Team,

I am filing this bug for the transition of the libextractor package.

Upstream released a new version, bumping the ABI version (SONAME) from
1c2a to 3.

Among the reverse deps, it may not be necessary to binNMU gnunet, since
a new version is waiting for a sponsor on mentors.

The new package is already waiting for a sponsor on mentors, see RFS
#669717.

Best regards,
Bertrand
