probably the reporting script that got confused. Please check the

Bug#953068: bossa: patch to initialize variables (needed when building with -O3)

2020-03-03 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: bossa
Version: 1.9.1-1
Severity: minor
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu focal ubuntu-patch

Hi Scott,

In Ubuntu, the latest version of bossa has failed to build on ppc64el
because the ppc64el architecture in Ubuntu uses -O3 as a default
optimization, which exposes a number of uninitialized variables in the code.

In reality none of these variables are used uninitialized, but the compiler
can't /prove/ that, so it errors out.

The attached patch fixes this issue by adding initializers to the various
variables, and has been uploaded to Ubuntu. Please consider including this
patch in Debian, and/or forwarding it to upstream.

Thanks,

Bug#953062: FTBFS on arm64, armel, armhf, ppc64el, s390x

2020-03-03 Thread Ryan Pavlik
arm64 and s390x (and maybe ppc64el?) are all an issue with signed char
conversions. I have a patch to fix that in my git repo, along with other
fixes that effectively block further usage (dfsg, etc):
https://salsa.debian.org/rpavlik-guest/meshlab/-/commit/2631636f29b7375a1d7977a1484b826db55ba153

armel and armhf: these platforms only have OpenGL-ES, not desktop
OpenGL, so the correct thing to do is to disable this package on those
platforms. Is there a better way to do this than to list all other
platforms in the control file?

Ryan

The new meshlab FTBFSes on arm64, armel, armhf, ppc64el, s390x.

This also means that on those archs meshlab still uses Qt4.

Dear package pycollada maintainers,

The latest upload of your package was not a source-only upload. As a result,
it did not migrate to Testing.

According to
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2020/02/msg5.html ,
packages that are out-of-sync between testing and unstable for more than 60
days are considered as having a Release Critical bug. Your package has been
out-of-sync for 140 days.

Please consider making another source-only upload to allow testing migration
according to https://wiki.debian.org/SourceOnlyUpload . Let me know if you
need any help. Thanks!

Bug#950430: more rdeps testing

2020-03-03 Thread Rebecca N. Palmer
These packages were missing from my old packages-to-test list due to
#953014:

influxdb-python jsonpickle psychopy tqdm

They have now been tested:
jsonpickle - OK
influxdb-python (#950063), tqdm - already broken (probably by the 0.23
-> 0.25 transition, where the same bug left them off the to-test list),
but pandas 1 doesn't make them any worse
psychopy - already BD-Uninstallable due to python3.7->3.8 transition
(#949187 - python3-opencv hasn't been rebuilt yet)

i.e. no new blockers but psychopy should probably be retested when it
becomes buildable again.

Yep, people can still use _debian_h5py_mpi to be sure of what they get,
but it is clear to them that they enter non-portable territory.

Yes, I kinda like h5py._debian.serial and h5py._debian.mpi. Looks tidy
an future-proof.

Bug#944769: python3-h5py fails to import if offline due to apparent MPI failure

Fair enough, I'll keep them separate. (actually, I'll file an Issue
upstream and let them know what we've done. They may want to adapt for
themselves).

Actually, it may be wise to choose names that

  a) are clearly private, so people know they should not start using
explicitly h5py_serial or h5py_mpi;

  b) will not clash with anything upstream may adopt in the future, a
bit like choosing a debian-specific soname for shared library.

why not _debian_h5py_serial and _debian_h5py_mpi?

Actually I was thinking people could start using h5py_serial or
h5py_mpi, then they'd be sure of exactly what they're getting.

But I can see your point. It wouldn't be so portable if users started
doing that.

If we want to present it as _debian*, then I think it would be tidier to
place these _debian dir underneath h5py. That layout could be even
better for upstream since they'd want to do likewise (_h5py_serial,
_h5py_mpi under h5py), if they take up this suggestion.

Feel free to disregard this suggestion or choose something else as you
see fit. Just my 2c to avoid future headaches.

   * New upstream patch release 19 Sep 2019. Closes: #925729.
   * move Files-Excluded to Source stanza of debian/copyright.
Enables mk-origtargz to removed unwanted files in upstream tarball
 - drop examples/log.* (no longer present in upstream tarball)
 - do not exclude doc/utils/sphinx-config from orig tarball.
Needed to build docs with `make html`.
   sphinx-config/_themes/lammps_theme uses MIT licence.

enabling `make html` to build docs directly. Uses python3 only.
   * provide shared library in liblammps-dev, liblammps0
   * provide python module in python3-lammps (with examples)
 - Debian patch python_lib_soname.patch points the LAMMPS library
