Bug#984799: scilab-full-bin for armhf and i386

2021-03-08 Thread Alexis PM
Package: scilab-full-bin
Version: 6.1.0+dfsg1-7
Severity: wishlist

In Debian 11 Bullseye (current testing) and Sid, scilab-full-bin is not
available for armhf and i386, but in Debian 10 Buster is avaible.

Perhaps this is due to the limited number of architectures supported by
libjogl2-java: bug #926069 relate to #887140

But upstream, a downloadable package is available for i386, view
https://www.scilab.org/download/6.1.0
This makes me think that it might be possible to package it for the missing
architectures, even if it is by disabling some feature (libjogl2-java support?)
when compiling.

Thanks!

Package: libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev
Version: 3.14.4+dfsg1-1
Severity: important
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: piuparts

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package left unowned files on
the system after purge, which is a violation of policy 6.8:

https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#details-of-removal-and-or-configuration-purging

The leftover files are actually alternatives that were installed by the
package but have not been properly removed.

While there is ongoing discussion how to remove alternatives correctly
(see https://bugs.debian.org/71621 for details) the following strategy
should work for regular cases:
* 'postinst configure' always installs the alternative
* 'prerm remove' removes the alternative
* 'postrm remove' and 'postrm disappear' remove the alternative
In all other cases a maintainer script is invoked (e.g. upgrade,
deconfigure) the alternatives are not modified to preserve user
configuration.
Removing the alternative in 'prerm remove' avoids having a dangling link
once the actual file gets removed, but 'prerm remove' is not called in
all cases (e.g. unpacked but not configured packages or disappearing
packages) so the postrm must remove the alternative again
(update-alternatives gracefully handles removal of non-existing
alternatives).

Note that the arguments for adding and removing alternatives differ, for
removal it's 'update-alternatives --remove '.

Filing this as important as having a piuparts clean archive is a release
goal since lenny.

I believe the problem is more than just that. Actually
/usr/bin/rheolef-config is intended for library build config. As a
result, it is supposed to be installed in librheolef-dev instead of
package rheolef.

The move of /usr/bin/rheolef-config took place in 7.1-1. Pierre, can
you confirm this change?

Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

Your package either build-depends, depends on Python2, or uses Python2
in the autopkg tests. Please stop using Python2, and fix this issue
by one of the following actions.

- Convert your Package to Python3. This is the preferred option. In
case you are providing a Python module foo, please consider dropping
the python-foo package, and only build a python3-foo package. Please
don't drop Python2 modules, which still have reverse dependencies,
  just document them.

At this point, this is the only option.

2021-03-08 Thread Tino Didriksen
d/control wrongly mentions python - it does not need python to build.
Should just be removed.

Bug#984786: apertium-separable: Python2 removal in sid/bullseye

2021-03-08 Thread Tino Didriksen
Whoops. That's an oversight in d/control - it should say python3 instead of
python.

This was fixed upstream last year (
https://github.com/apertium/apertium-separable/issues/28), so I was certain
this must be a bogus bug report - but no, I plain forgot to adjust
d/control.

Bug#984786: apertium-separable: Python2 removal in sid/bullseye

Package: src:apertium-separable
Version: 0.3.6-1
Severity: serious
Tags: sid bullseye
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: py2removal

Bug#983892: libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev: leaves alternatives after purge: /etc/alternatives/*petsc64*

I think I see it now

libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev.prerm sets

  PETSC64_NAME=petsc${PETSC_SONAME_VERSION}

instead of

  PETSC64_NAME=petsc64-${PETSC_SONAME_VERSION}

Bug#983892: libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev: leaves alternatives after purge: /etc/alternatives/*petsc64*

2021-03-08 Thread Drew Parsons
Source: petsc
Followup-For: Bug #983892
Control: tags -1 help

I'm looking into this problem. It's not immediately obvious where the
problem ultimately lies for this reason: the petsc64 scripts have been
constructed by analogy (copy) with the correspond petsc
(petsc32) scripts.

The prerm scripts have been configured to remove these alternatives.
At first scrutiny, libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev.prerm seems to be
addressing the alternatives in the same way as
libpetsc-complex3.14-dev.prerm (apart from handling some old legacy
alternatives which shouldn't be affecting
libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev)

If libpetsc-complex3.14-dev is uninstalling cleanly as intended then
why would libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev not be doing the same?

Likewise, libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev should be behaving the same as
libpetsc64-real3.14-dev. Why is this problem only occuring with
libpetsc64-complex3.14-dev ?

If anyone can spot the difference then I'll be happy for the help.

Bug#984769: FTBFS: python-escript fails if DFLAGS is set

2021-03-08 Thread Sven Mueller
I should add:

dpkg-buildflags manpage does not list DFLAGS as a supported flag, but
explicitly mentioned that more flags might get added in the future if
needed for more languages.

DFLAGS was added with

commit d01d1f49c9734a39fc278f4d5b75444c96491023
Author: Guillem Jover
Date: Fri Nov 27 01:52:28 2020 +0100

dpkg-buildflags: Add support for DFLAGS

Add default value in Debian and derivatives for the flag.

It will get either -fdebug or -frelease depending on noopt presence in
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS, but for now nothing else, as it seems common for D
project to use CPPFLAGS and CFLAGS anyway.

Closes: #975896

Bug#984769: FTBFS: python-escript fails if DFLAGS is set

2021-03-08 Thread Sven Mueller
Package: python-escript
Version: 5.6-2

In my build enviroments, the DFLAGS dpkg-buildflags option is set (to
'-frelease').
python-escript in site_cons/extractdebbuild.py does not know about this
flag but should actually ignore it, AFAICT.

Suggested fix: Add DFLAGS to the ignoreflags list in line 34 of
site_confs/extractbuilddeb.py

Cheers,
Sven
