Yes, but simply installing Solaris emulation surely isn't going to get
it working. (Of course it would be nice if someone _did_ manage to
make it work, at least running Debian.)

I doubt that's going to help much with the x86 card, though.

It is a SUN manufactured card that houses an Intel CPU so that I
can run Windows NT Workstation :)

Works great under Solaris - but I don't want to run Solaris :)

The FAQ is maintained by Pieter Krul: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
(you can also send updates to me and I'll make sure they are passed
on)

If you think you need ibcs2 because of instructions in the
(ultralinux?) FAQ, you don't. [It wasn't clear who maintained that
when I last thought it needed fixing -- anyone know where to send
updates?]

You need to populate /usr/gnemul/solaris from a Solaris distribution.

Set up the gnemul directory correctly (see fairly recent posts about
that) and just load the `solaris' module.

I doubt that's going to help much with the x86 card, though.

Ok. I still wonder how this bridge interfaces with the x86 virtual
system. Would be an interesting project making that thing work.

I did find:

/lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/arch/sparc64/solaris/solaris.o

so I think I may be on the right track ...

No, the DEC 21554 is a general purpose PCI bridge, it is used in many
ethernet multiport cards, but it need not be ethernet...

File a bug on the perl-doc package.

Odd. Does the PCI Intel card communicate with the host via an ethernet
device? Or is this a second ethernet card in your system? If it's the
latter, than I don't see your PCI card.

Re: Solaris Debian ?

2002-11-02 Thread iudicium ferat

All of the others are known hardware, so the only conclusion from
this list is:

The SunPCi card is behind the DEC 21554 bridge, i.e. on 02:03.0

There is little to figure about the card through this bridge,
you can get the datasheet from intel, but I doubt you will get
very far without aditional knowledge about the cards structure
(as busses and mappings are concerned).

Well, do you know where I can get one of:

debian:/usr/share/doc# find / -name gnemul -ls
debian:/usr/share/doc# find / -name ibcs2 -ls

Not completely sure what the 'Solaris Sparc' binary
compatibility package would be called???

I searched the Debian site packages (stable, test, and
even unstable), but the it lists 'ibcs' only...

I feel if I can hack on the card via the Solaris PC
software itself this will likely prove useful. I
believe I need to tune in, turn on, or somehow
set-up Solaris Binary compatibility;

Thx/Sx :]
