Re: xfree86: sunffb fails with signal 10

2002-09-06 Thread John Riccardi
Sorry, I should have been more specific. The text I referred
to as server output was /var/log/XFree86.0.log. I don't have
a file just called XFree86.log --

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log$ ls -l XFree86.*
-rw-r--r--1 root root39579 Sep 5 15:51 XFree86.0.log
-rw-r--r--1 root root38545 Sep 5 12:25 XFree86.8.log

I have included XFree86.8.log below, but I doubt it will be
helpful. It had the following error:

(EE) SUNFFB: Failed to load module dri (once-only module, 0)

which I fixed by turning off the dri module. I'm still having
the problem where the server just aborts without any useful
info.

/var/log/XFree86.8.log (old, doesn't show current problem)

 Greetings All,

I'm a long time linux user, just beginning to use it on sparcs
because it's so much easier to make a GNU system into a useable

The machine I'm having trouble with is an Ultra 2 with a Creator
card. I know the hardware works because I was running Solaris 8
on it last week and Sun's X server worked just fine. My config
file and Xserver output are included below. As you can see, the
server isn't reporting any useful errors, it just dies on signal
 10. Unfortunately it doesn't even drop a core file. :-(

Can you send your /var/log/XFree86.log aswell?
