No entiendo. Using polipo with a modem or a mobile connection Polipo will go on- and offline automatically whenever PPP (modem) or other network connections are established or brought down. You can specify on which type of connection this behaviour will occur by editing the file /etc/polipo/options and setting (...) Interesante.

RE: Wheezy Installer Auto-Partition Oddity
Hi, Patrick, [snip] FWIW, the wheezy installer created the same partitioning scheme on a hard drive install the first time I gave wheezy a run. I found that rather odd and a good reason to manually partition the drive prior to installing wheezy in the future. I usually do that but was being a bit lazy this one time. ;) Thanks. Now, I know it's not just my install or a quirk in VirtualBox. It's the installer. Since my original post, I've been reading up on GPT. Based on that, plus what others have posted here, it seems the cause of the gaps is a combination of aligning partitions based 4096 byte sectors, regardless of whether they are that size, and LVM needing unpartitioned space between partitions for metadata whether you're using LVM or not. Mostly, the latter, I think. Like you, for the real install, I'll just manually partition. Gap, LVM and GPT problems solved. Just for the record . . . that install was to an old WD 80gb drive that was around long before the new sector changes. Mine, too. WD 160GB purchased late 2006. 512 byte sectors. I don't think the installer looks at the disk type. It will just use 1M boundaries for starting a new partition. Why it ends the previous partition just beyond that 1M boundary and then has to skip 2047 512b sectors I do not know, that might be a minor bug. And ah who the heck cares about 1M on a 100+ GB or nowadays on a 1+ TB disk? ;-) Bonno Bloksma -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? For one, LVM can work with a whole disk (pvcreate /dev/sda). It's a little hard to store metadata on areas of disk that don't exist. Secondly, the whole point of partitions is to say this part of the disk is what you can use. Putting data outside of a partition is terribly brittle and you tend to get horrible breakage when you do it. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Backup all GPG secret keys
Hey How do I backup all GPG keys? By all I mean the master keys and subkeys. Just by backing up the .gnupg directory? I am looking to reinstall Debian so need to restore the keys when done. -- timd -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Re: live server monitoring graphs
Dne, 04. 01. 2013 14:26:27 je Muhammad Yousuf Khan napisal(a): I have 6 core Linux server and all of them are X terminal no Desktop is installed on our server. as per my finding with GKrellM it is a desktop application. i have no problem with one desktop machine. i think i can manage one machine with wide monitor 22 inch so what i was asking. can i install one Debian machine with with Desktop environment only for viewing GKrellM output but on the other hand on all X terminals i could install a client module of GKrellM just for collecting information and throwing it to the server. is that possible? Thanks. Perhaps conky suits your needs better than gkrellm. Conky can gather all the data you require and can run in headless mode, e.g. over ssh. In addition, it doesn't need a desktop environment. You just ssh into your server and launch the non-gui version of conky. There is no conky server module, you just have to install the conky client on each of your servers. -- Cheerio, Klistvud http://bufferoverflow.tiddlyspot.com Certifiable Loonix User #481801 Please reply to the list, not to me. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. -- Matijs -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-dutch-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
