Si usas systemd seguramente tengas que habilitar su journal para poder
ver los datos del error de los servicios una vez iniciado el sistema.

Si usas systemv podrás instalar el paquete bootlogd para que te genere un
archivo en /var/log/boot.

En ambos casos también podrás pausar los mensajes en la consola pasando
al kernel algún parámetro (si mal no recuerdo, para el systemv era
boot_delay=1000, para systemd ni idea, tendría que mirarlo).

Prueba dpkg -s nombre con un paquete que *no* tengas instalado y

aquí solemos usar Debian y ya sabemos lo que sale).

Ah, vale, aclarado.

Tengo una configuración como la que describes (bonding entre eth0 y eth1 
con bind9) pero no recuerdo haber tenido que configurar nada en bind9 
para que funcionara, es decir, así como en samba o en dhcp sí tuve que 
especificar la interfaz de red donde quería que escuchara el servicio 
(bon0) en bind9 no recuerdo haber tenido que modificar este valor.
 
 Alguna idea??

Puedes revisar si el servidor dns sigue respondiendo a peticiones desde 
otros equipos (p. ej., desde otro cliente linux con dig @192.168.100.29 
example.org siempre y cuando el dns resuelva dominios remotos, si no, 
prueba con uno de tu red local).

También deberías consultar el registro de sucesos por si vieras más 
información.

Sólo una cosa. Si no tienes instalado el paquete resolvconf, los campos 
dns-nameservers/dns-search no te van a servir de nada ya que el equipo 
buscará los servidores de nombres en el archivo /etc/resolv.conf.

sistema /usr/share/applications usando como plantilla el de Evince, por 
ejemplo, y cambiando los campos relevantes. 

Por cierto, me ha parecido leer el alguna parte que Adobe Reader ya no se 
actualiza apenas para Linux ;-(

Para windows suelo recomendar Avast, Eset o AVG Free, independientemente 
de su licencia.

En mi caso, al menos, no. Lo ideal es usar un servidor STUN propio (del 
mismo proveedor que te proporciona el servicio SIP) pero en mi caso no 
tiene, así que uso el de voipbuster (stun.voipbuster.com).

 problema ...

No sé qué restricciones o limitaciones tendrá Maykel, yo al menos tengo 
que usar SIP porque tengo numeración (convencional e inum) contratada con 
los proveedores y necesito entrada/salida con redes de telefonía 
convencional (pasarela). Para llamadas de tipo centralita (locales) si 
el otro extremo habla IAX2 pues perfecto :-)

saber cuál está iniciado puedes ejecutar lsof -p 1.

Puedes tener los dos, yo tengo los dos instalados e inicio de manera 
predeterminada con systemv. Igualmente, puedes eliminar uno de ellos, 
pero yo no te lo recomendaría, deja que sea el sistema el que te lo pida 
cuando/si lo necesita.

Aaaahh, ok, así que es allí donde se almacenan los enlaces de los
programas. Se parece al clásico Menú Inicio del OS Windows: A cada
usuario se le permite almacenar una carpeta de menú Inicio, que se
verá diferente para cada uno, y uno por defecto que es el mismo para
todos.

Bueno, ya vi algunos archivos para comprobar qué debo agregar, ya lo
hice, ya me carga (de hecho, agregó una segunda entrada al menú
Aplicaciones-Oficina). Pero sigo sin verlo. Quizás haga algo mal.

Por cierto, me ha parecido leer el alguna parte que Adobe Reader ya no se
actualiza apenas para Linux ;-(

Tienes razón: En Acerca de... me dice que tengo la 8.1.7; la versión
en inglés (que tiene para instalarse en .deb, .rpm y .tar.gz) tiene de
versión 9.5.5. Para Android hay la ARX y ARXI-- para 2.3.3+; hasta
para MacOS está la versión 11 :-( ¿Será entonces emularla con Wine o
PlayOnLinux?

(explorador de archivos/navaja suiza) que para mí tiene una doble 
funcionalidad y es que permite automatizar tareas del tipo, bórrame todo 
esto y no me hagas preguntas) pero al ser visual antes puedes darte una 
vuelta por el contenido de los directorios para evitar desastres.

Como bien apuntas, las soluciones inmunizadoras acaban siendo antes una 
molestia que una ayuda porque te olvidas de que algún directorio en 
concreto tiene alguna restricción y después te vuelves loco porque ni root 
puede eliminar contenido de esa carpeta y empiezas a crearte historias 
desde que se te ha metido algún bicho hasta que hay algún bug :-)

 versión 9.5.5. Para Android hay la ARX y ARXI-- para 2.3.3+; hasta
 para MacOS está la versión 11 :-( ¿Será entonces emularla con Wine o
 PlayOnLinux?

No sé qué decirte, es una opción aunque quizá tengas menos problemas con 
una VM (p. ej., VirtualBox). Yo es que tengo Windows reales con Adobe 
Reader X instalados para cualquier emergencia, con esas cosas no puedo 
jugar.

Prueba a reiniciar la sesión y si sigue igual edita manualmente el 
archivo /usr/share/gnome/applications/defaults.list y apunta hacia 
el .desktop que has creado de Adobe Reader el tipo MIME application/pdf, 
es decir, application/pdf=acrobat.desktop.

Esto puede traer conflictos entre ellos?


Prueba dpkg -s nombre con un paquete que *no* tengas instalado y
verás la diferencia (pero no hace falta que nos mandes el resultado,
aquí solemos usar Debian y ya sabemos lo que sale).

Lo mande por la duda que te he indicado antes.

Si usas systemd seguramente tengas que habilitar su journal para poder
ver los datos del error de los servicios una vez iniciado el sistema.

Si usas systemv podrás instalar el paquete bootlogd para que te genere
un archivo en /var/log/boot.

En ambos casos también podrás pausar los mensajes en la consola pasando
al kernel algún parámetro (si mal no recuerdo, para el systemv era
boot_delay=1000, para systemd ni idea, tendría que mirarlo).

eliminar uno de los dos? ¿Cuál de ellos?

Puedes tener los dos, yo tengo los dos instalados e inicio de manera
predeterminada con systemv. Igualmente, puedes eliminar uno de ellos,
pero yo no te lo recomendaría, deja que sea el sistema el que te lo pida
cuando/si lo necesita.

Cada paquete tiene sus dependencias, todas las que quiera. Por tener
más dependencies no tiene que pasar nada malo.

Ya te dije que no. systemd puede coexistir con sysv y no se
interfieren entre ellos porque cada vez que arrancas solamente
funcionará uno de los dos.


Volviendo a tu pregunta original:

Para ver los mensajes de arranque del núcleo, usa la orden dmesg.

Para ver los mensajes del sistema de inicio (que siguen a los anteriores),
instala el paquete bootlogd, reinicia, y mira en /var/log/boot.

No, lo peor es que no fue trabajando como root, que sólo lo uso para 
actualizar y muy rara vez para pelear con archivos... esa vez, cometí el 
error de colocar el comando así rm -rf /.*, pero me faltó agregar que 
era dentro de la carpeta, por lo que el sistema inmune al poder del 
usuario salió avante, no así el /home/../.. que bueno, ya sabrán.
Um, lo apunto y lo descargo para probarlo, que ya fue bastante amargo el 
trago. Y ciertamente, de eso tengo una historia con Slackware-Windows y 
un archivo postscript, jaja.

[OT] Navegar con las flechas en mc.

Hola listeras y listeros.
Ante todo, un gran saludo por este día.

Yendo al tema: hace años que he usado a mc para tareas de archivos, 
edición, etc. Siempre activaba la navegación con las teclas de flecha. 
Me refiero a entrar o salir de directorios con las flechas derecha e 
izquierda. Muy cómodo.
Pero resulta que al actualizar a la versión 4.8.3, esa opción ha 
desaparecido.
En el archivo /home/alberto/.config/mc/ini encuentro la línea 
navigate_with_arrows=false. Si lo edito y le pongo true, las flechas 
funcionan... una sola vez, en la siguiente sesión de mc estará de nuevo 
con false.

¿Alguien sabe como hacer que sea permanente?

Pero resulta que al actualizar a la versión 4.8.3, esa opción ha 
desaparecido.
En el archivo /home/alberto/.config/mc/ini encuentro la línea 
navigate_with_arrows=false. Si lo edito y le pongo true, las flechas 
funcionan... una sola vez, en la siguiente sesión de mc estará de 
nuevo con false.

¿Alguien sabe como hacer que sea permanente?

Lo encontré. Pasa que cambiaron la opción estilo LynX del submenú 
Configuración a Paneles, dentro de Opciones. Ya lo probé, reinicié mc 
por las dudas, y sigue funcionando.

 Pues el DNS principal que tengo en el server 192.168.100.29 no me 
 respondees decir no me da las consultas y no lo he tocado solo ha 
 fallado despues que configure el Bondig.

cabuloso: vários boots para ligar o pc

bom dia pessoal,

estou tendo um problema ao ligar meu pc pois nunca consigo ligar de uma só
vez na primeira vez como era de costume.

ultimamente quando desligo o pc e se passam pelo menos umas duas horas, ao
ligar novamente acontecem uma das seguintes situações ( o pc não liga ):

1)
ligo o botão power do gabinete e ocorre de o monitor não mostrar nada,
seguem-se
um beep long seguidos de dois curtos ininterruptamente até que eu desligue
de vez
e tente novamente...

repito esta operação infinitamente e nada... o soar dos beeps continuam e
nada de ligar...

2)
numa dessas tentativas eu aciono o botão reset do gabinete durante o
soar dos beeps...
daí ocorre um boot simples e um reboot na sequência sem mais nem menos

por fim depois de umas 10 ou 20 vezes nesse processo eu consigo fazer o
boot e usar o pc
em que aqui estou

essa situação ocorre há pelo menos uma semana... sinceramente não era
assim...
ja tentei de tudo... retirar e recolocar o processador... retirar e
recolocar as memórias
fiz isso também com o hd...tudo em separadado depois tudo junto ou seja
desmontei a
máquina toda e remontei e isso continua a ocorrer...

configuração maquina:
placa asus m5a97 evo
proc amd  fx8320 com oito nucleos 64bits
mem não lembro mas tem 16gb
hd 1Tb seagate
vga 9800 gt
fonte real 550W

software:
dual boot com grub-2
um windows 7 64 bits
um debian 7 64 bits

se alguém já passou por isso ou tiver alguma dica agradeço,

Se quer pelo menos ter certeza que não é microfissura em cabo/trilha de
placa/conector/solda/componente eletrônico, esquente o computador inteiro

Eu não sei que tipo de disco é este, nem o modelo da tv, nem o software
que foi usado para particioná-lo. Mas pelo que aparece no testdisk,
suponho que este disco contenha partições criptografadas por algum
software ou da tv ou original do próprio HD. Sem destrancar os volumes
criptografados você não vai conseguir recuperar os dados que estão
nestas partições.

Já me aconteceu algo parecido em 2 placas.
Tinha de ligar e desligar várias vezes até conseguir bootar.
Em ambas era o famoso problemas dos capacitores estufados.

Troquei os capacitores e resolveu o problema.
Para isso precisa boa prática com solda de componentes, ou então
procurar um técnico eletrônico.

Você pode conseguir rodar a aplicação, mas o headset não funciona 
direito, até mesmo em máquina virtual com Windows não fica muito bom .

O icetea consegue abrir a videoconferencia da Blackboar (usado no Open
English), porém toda vez ele instala um monte de tralhas .jar e etc. Mas

What's in your php log?  (This may or may not be the same log as your

I have display_errors set to off, and log_errors set to on (I think 
this is the default debian configuration).  However the only reference 
in ANY (including mysql ) logs that I can find is the nginx access log 
(/var/log/nginx/access)


This shows the request with the 500 response.

There is nothing in the php5-fpm.log, and I can't find where php is 
logging things.


I have just set display_errors on, and also explicitly defined a php 
log file to see if I can capture more information.  Of course I had to 
restart php5-fpm to do that, so my wordpress site is currently 
working.  I need to leave it to time out and will report back when it 
does


I am getting a clearer, but not yet complete, picture of what is 
happening by adding some echo statements to the php code.


Wordpress is dieing somewhere in the plugin super-cache.

php5-fpm seems to override php.ini settings with the ones from the 
pool.d/www.conf file.  That is why I wasn't seeing any logging. (at 
least I think that is why).


I have to give up for now.  But will try again this evening.

For years I have used sudo both in server administration and on the desktop.

Lately I get the following error message and I do not really know what 
to do about it other than logging into the xserver as root - which I do 
not want to do:

qemu not grabbing control keys

Hi, if I try to run images with kvm I cant switch to virtual consoles
with ctrl-alt-(1/2/3) no matter what key combination I use (default is
ctrl-alt, starting kvm with -alt-grab makes it ctrl-alt-shift, starting
with -ctrl-grab makes it right ctrl button). 

Grabbing and ungrabbing the mouse with the control keys works though so
qemu sees the keys.

My system is an icelandic keyboard with qemu version 2.0.0+dfsg-2 from
unstable.

Any ideas if this is a bug or some misconfiguration of my part?

I am using the KDE from experimental since, well, Qt/KDE Debian devs uploaded 
it there. And I upgraded to the unstable version yesterday.

Except for some issues with Network Manager and the KDE plasmoid its just 
working fine for me. Since an upgrade Network Manager doesn´t automatically 
detect a change from company network to home network anymore. And I had it 
that the KDE plasmoid doesn´t even display the available connections. I am 
currently using

killall dhclient

as a work-around. Network Manager reinitializes the network then. I am not 
using WLAN, just LAN.

Well… I have a trouble with WLAN as well. Clicking on connect for a WLAN 
connection opens Edit connection details. So I found no way to tell Network 
Manager to actually connect it. This was quite annoying.

I wonder whether Network Manager and its KDE plasmoid is broken for others 
like this as well? As to the KDE plasmoid not displaying the connections: 
Maybe there is some older version of something still floating around in memory. 
I will try with a reboot later.

Check your /etc/resolv.conf and/or /etc/hosts. Check that dig
www.nse-india.com returns an address. Also, perhaps, check if wget is
using a proxy (it might be that the proxy server is the one unable to

Was it the same package that caused the messages?

Although, I didn't state it explicitly, I thought the message was a bit
of a cop out like yourself¹. But to top it all off it asked me to run a
command which didn't even exist on my system, as though I was expected
to jump through hoops myself. Also, considering that I don't even know
what this gdk-pixbuf-2.0 program is for, (I've never messed with it.) I
thought that maybe my setup uncovered a bug in the upgrade process
(after all, remember we are running testing -- helping the project to
test for bugs and reporting them when we do find them.) since I don't
run a DE, and maybe hicolor-icon-theme expects one.

I reported that bug a month ago, not even an acknowledgment from the
maintainer. It looks like it hasn't even been looked at. Now, from what
you have posted regarding booting problems (I'm not even sure if I've
rebooted myself since then -- unfortunately I'd have too many things to
restart to test it at the moment -- but if I did, I'd raise the bug 
level.) Hence the reason I asked if could add anything to it. Was it
even caused by Processing triggers for hicolor-icon-theme (0.13-1)? If
not, then add that also.

PDL package on Wheezy



Hi, there isn't a PDL package available (it seems to have been pulled), and
old versions don't work.

 

Anyone got a clue why it was pulled/what's happening with it/how I can get a
working version. It's the only thing holding back my new servers.

 First of all, the proper upgrade procedure for an upgrade from wheezy

You could try to env_keep XDG_RUNTIME_DIR?

I'm not sure that the above is appropriate. It might be better to
create, for example, /root/xdg_run/ or /run/user/0/ and then do
'sudo XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=... system-config-printer'.

Have you tried gksu/gksudo or kdesudo (or pkexec) for GUI apps? They
might still do the right thing since they're meant for GUI apps.

I can't speak about these particular packages, but please mind
experimental is more of a playground for Maintainers, a place to upload 
packages to receive more testing from the daring few.

On the other hand Maintainers should not upload packages to unstable 
that are not release quality, even when it's quite obvious that a 
specific version will not actually reach stable because, for example, it 
will be superseded by newer versions uploaded in time to reach testing 
before the freeze.

You're welcome.  Also, please double check that you are using the Consolas
font.  That screen shot above doesn't look like Consolas to me.  Consolas
is the only font that I've found in Windows which is reasonably complete
for UTF-8 characters.  Man pages are a good test.  See if you are seeing
true hyphens at the end of the line instead of box characters.  Author's
names in man pages are another good test.  Even if you are looking at
English man pages, author's names, if they come from a non-English-speaking
country, often contain funny characters, such as accented characters,
reverse accented characters, umlauted characters, etc.  These often don't
display correctly in other fonts.

command I was told to run by apt-get was:

gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders
 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache

and the one that you posted on the bug report was in a directory that
doesn't exist on my system, but a similar file:

gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders
 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache

If the command was the package:

gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders

Then yes, it was the same package and the response was the same for me
as for you.

Before I did as Ralf suggested and installed:

# apt-get install libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev

and then ran the command:

# gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache

The loaders.cache file as shown above was completely empty. Had
nothing in it at all, but existed. 

Since the latter command gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache was
run. That file has a heap of stuff in it.

If it helps I can post the contents of the file here or to you directly.

I'm not certain the above information was of any help, but I hope it is.

I really had no idea what pixbuf is and like you never had cause to
examine it.

I'm guessing you are on amd64 and Chris is on i386, which would explain 
the different directory ;)

If you have the dnsutils package installed in the virtual machine, try
looking up the name with dig. Look in /etc/resolv.conf on your host
system what name server it uses.

Then in the virtual machine, run: (replacing 192.168.1.1 with the
actual ip address of the name server)

dig @192.168.1.1 www.nse-india.com

That should tell you if the name server is accessible at all from the
virtual machine, or if there is a routing problem or a firewall that is
blocking access.

If it's a network problem, you will see something like:

It's also possible that name server is restricting the ip addresses
from where it allows queries, and your vm is not in the allowed range.

In that case, you will get something like this:

If the dns is working fine, you will get

and the list of dns records it found. In that case, you just need to
set up /etc/resolv.conf and /etc/nsswitch.conf on the vm.

Just bought a used x220, pretty happy to have it.  Haven't looked into BIOS

Firstly thanks for pointing on possible ideas why reboot could happen.
Initially I've thought more to software issue side, but not the hardware.
Honestly this upsetting a bit, so nice laptop nowadays, not much could be
comparable to it, in design and comfort also.

I see you guys seen reboots more often then me obviously using it more.  Will
monitor the situation.

'xhost +' allows anyone anywhere access to your X server. If you must use

Exactly :) But I am very lazy. It is very long string for me on my local
machine with only one user =)

Ahh, thats exactly what I can't do, qemu doesnt respond to ctrl-alt-2,
when I said that I couldn't get to the virtual console I mean the qemu
console.
