Hi ha un tros de codi a /etc/network/if-up.d/mountnfs que teòricament és per arreglar això: # Skip the mountnfs hook when being triggered by the networking SysV init # script and instead use the systemd built-in mechanisms to mount remote # file systems. # This avoids a deadlock caused by the rpcbind SysV init script depending # on $network and the $network LSB facility being provided by the networking # SysV init script. if [ -d /run/systemd/system ]; then systemctl list-jobs | grep -q network.target exit 0 fi però en el meu cas no ho arregla. No ho entenc (?).

A start job is running for create volatile files, no suceda mas. Did you have to make any changes in the Open PulseAudio Volume Control box or it did it work out of the box Yes, they are working both. But I am using alsa, as pulseaudio is not starting properly after a reboot. A hardware problem here with kde. There are so many variables here and just saying it should work is not helping. As I said, I got both running, the latest one with pulseaudio and the prior one with alsa (with my workaround). To get the old skype (version 4.2) running, which can be used with alsa, use the workaround, I found out: 1. Install latest skype. 2. Enter username ans password, and, very important, activate autologin. This way you get automatically connected, whenever you start skype. 3. Deinstall latest skype, and reinstall skype version 4.2. 4. Now you can start skype-4.2, and get connected. 5. Do never logout! 6. Hint: I extracted the skype binary from the latest package and put it into my ~/home folder. If I got accoidently logged out, I just start ./skype from my ~/home, log in and kill this skype process. Then relogin with the 4.2- version. This does not make sense at all. Why is installing and removing Skype 4.3.0.37 necessary before installing 4.2? Why is it necessary to activate autologin. It makes sense, as I just need the latest one to create the keys for the connection, but need the prior one for using it with alsa. Can you please give me the output of the following command on your machine? $ dpkg -l \*skype\* \*pulseaudio\* \*alsa\* | grep ^ii Sorry, as I said, I do not use pulseaudio, but alsa. Iceweasel Latest update stealing bandwidth uselessly
Warm greetings to all the wonderful maintainers, I am sorry to report that, with the latest Iceweasel (31.3.0) update came something I did NOT want:- This version is constantly loading two google cookies - google.com google.com.au (country specific). If you go into Edit - Preferences - Privacy - Show Cookies and try to delete these unwanted (in my case) cookies, they will re-appear in seconds and have to be deleted again, and again ad nauseum. If you then try to 'block' these cookies in Edit - Preferences - Privacy - Exceptions, then addresses in the 74.125.237.xxx IP range continue to 'steal' bandwidth by trying to communicate with the Iceweasel browser. I have tested this at length using a blank (new tab) in Iceweasel and leaving this open, while watching the 'Activity' and 'Received' counters on Firestarter increment while nothing else is accessing the internet. The only 'Active connections' listed in Firestarter are to 'Program' = iceweasel and are consistently 'Destination' address 74.125.237.xxx and using port 443 - HTTPS. This 'bandwidth theft' happens at a rate of nearly 5Mbyte (4.9MByte) per 10 minute period or about 30MByte per hour, while Iceweasel is doing nothing - at a blank new tab. This would equate to an overhead of approximately seven percent of my total allocation. While this may not seem much, when you are on a fixed income, every bit (pun intended) counts. This does not happen with Epiphany or Konquerer. Using http://www.pagesinventory.com/ to look up this IP range I find that there is a substantial block of addresses from approx. 74.125.237.135 up to about 200 (and beyond?) that is registered to itwa.net. When I try to find out about itwa.net by accessing their web page through a browser, there is nothing out there - blank page. I then used Firestarter's configuration files /etc/firestarter/outbound/deny-to and /etc/firestarter/outbound/deny-from to block / deny access to 74.125.237.136/27 and 74.125.237.167/27 (block of 60 addresses from xxx.136 to xxx.197). I found that this stopped this on-going wastage of my bandwidth, but this also effectively cut off ALL access to many sites that use embedded google maps to show where their various business premises are located, when I wish to try to conduct business with them. I also found that I could no longer access any instructional / educational / current affairs videos on youtube. It was this that alerted me to the fact that google must be using these addresses - since google owns youtube and google maps. I have long distrusted google and for this reason google is my search engine of VERY LAST RESORT!!! I do not wish to contract with them in any form or manner and I do not consent to any of their presence on any of my IT resources. It is for this reason, that I have Iceweasel Edit - Preferences - Privacy - Accept cookies from sites - Always - Keep Until - I close Iceweasel set, so as to clear out these un-wanted cookies. I use Linux (more especially Debian - 'The Ethical Linux'), so that I may have SOME control over my own IT resources. So when I am forced to have cookies I do not want and have my bandwidth stolen, even when I am running The Ethical Linux, I get very annoyed. II feel that someone has slipped us something sick and wrong into this wonderful 'brew' that is 'Debian - The Ethical Linux'. This is 'theft' of bandwidth for which I PAY, which is for my exclusive use only - NOT some snooping, mongrel, NSA lapdog with way too much money. Not only is this theft but it is also done under subterfuge by using an unrelated domain name - itwa.net. A system can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. The traitor moves amongst those within the gates freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself, for the traitor appears not a traitor. He speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a system, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of its nations, he infects the body politics so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. Beware, beware, beware... -- Marcus Tullius Cicero 42 B.C I look forward to this issue being fixed. Thanking you in anticipation Kind regards and best wishes again to the maintainers for their efforts with Linux and Freedom of Choice. Ale

Re: LVM RAID5 with missing disk?
Gary Dale a écrit : On 05/12/14 03:35 PM, Pascal Hambourg wrote: You can think of the RAID algorithms as parity checks. A mirror is even parity. This point of view is a bit twisted, but I can understand and won't argue. While the disks are not physically assigned to be data or parity, you can recreate a failed RAID 5 disk by recalculating the parity based on the surviving disks. Not only the parity but also the missing data. Linux can use a special RAID 10 mode (mirror+stripe) with two or three disks. If you have different sized disks, yes. Why ? Linux RAID, as most RAID types, uses disks of the same size. The more usual case is to use similar disks. If one disk is not striped, you lose some of the performance improvement. RAID 10 with two disks makes little sense. Linux RAID 10 allows striping even on two disks (far mode). with 6 disks, RAID 6 will give you double the capacity of 4 disks or get you immunity to 3 disks failing. RAID 6 can survive 2 disk failures regarless of the number of disks in the array. You misread the sentence. You can run RAID with any number of parity disks by tweaking the algorithms. Most people don't bother using more than 2 parity disks but there is no theoretical reason why you couldn't, to get as much safety as desired. Misread ? You mentionned RAID6. RAID 6 is a standard RAID level consisting of block-level striping with double distributed parity, providing fault tolerance up to 2 failed drives. Not 3. Of course you can define any algorithm you like, but if your custom RAID has triple parity, then it's not RAID 6. Prior to being able to boot to an mdadm RAID 5 array, I regularly had 3 to 5 disk RAID 1 /boot partitions - why not use the disks since they are already there and it keeps the partitioning the same across the drives. Of course. RAID 1 as a standard level is not limited to 2 mirrored disks. It can have any number. RAID 6 can be considered a tweaked RAID 5 and RAID 5 can be considered a tweaked RAID 1. Re: Skipping fsck during boot with systemd?
Look, if you reboot a laptop instead of suspending/hibernating it, sooner or later you're going to have to think Hmm, it hasn't fscked for a while. It shouldn't be a surprise when it does. Actually, it's *always* a surprise. These fsck happen at long enough intervals, that I can never know if it was 4 months ago or 7 months ago, and neither can I remember which laptop/desktop has the delay set to 172 days vs 194 days vs 98 days vs ... So, yes, if I can't remember it happening last month I wouldn't find it suspicious if it happens today, but maybe it actually won't happen for another year and I wouldn't find it suspicious either. It is a small mistake, not worth bothering about, unless of course you persist in disclaiming your own responsibility and blaming your tools. Having to wait half-an-hour just because the do an fsck every once in a while happen to decide that yeah, well, maybe we could do I today is just ridiculous. The old you can skip fsck by hitting C-c was fine. Preventing it is obnoxious. If they want to clean up the behavior, I could live with a change such that when the time is up (either number of mounts, or time since last fsck), the reboot could prompt the user (with a timeout since there's always the chance that there's no human available to respond) whether to perform the fsck this time or to postpone it to next reboot. But then when I return the vt7, the display flickers and there are horizontal lines running through it. I don't see this problem when resuming from hibernation. Wheezy does not have this problem. 2. Although I have the Xfce power manager configured to lock the screen when suspending or hibernating, the system comes up unlocked (both from suspend and from hibernation). The 2nd problem seems to be related to how the system is suspended (or put into hibernation). On Wheezy, I have the Xfce power manager configured to display a systray icon. If I suspend by right-clicking on that icon, the system resumes with the screen locked. If I suspend via the logout dialog, the system resumes with the screen unlocked. On Jessie, I don't see a way to get the systray icon, so AFAICT the only way to suspend is via the logout dialog. (There's a power manager panel applet in Jessie, but it doesn't seem to provide a way to suspend/hibernate.) Hardware: ZaReason AMD Breeze (64-bit); video: ATI RS880. No non-free firmware installed (Jessie or Wheezy). I'm looking for suggestions on what to do next. thanks, mike -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? This is upstream commit c4aed00. Een stuk manual page: DEBCHANGE(1) DEBCHANGE(1) NAME debchange - Tool for maintenance of the debian/changelog file in a sourcepackage SYNOPSIS debchange [options] [text ...] Verder op in de manual page van `debchange(1)` staat: If no text is specified then debchange will run the editor.
