Re: ATI/AMD Radeon XPRESS 200M free driver
I also believe to the movement of Intel and I think that Intel's choice will help the open source but unfotunatelly many people have ati's or nvidia's graphic card and i'm one of them. I have a laptop whith the ati express 200m. I bought this product cause of the good cpu and its very good price. I hate xgl because this technology "destroys" my 3d acceleration and this is one big reason for someone to prefer aiglx but the fglrx doesn't support aiglx yet and because I am waitting for this feature many mounths I prefer to help some other people to create a gpl driver. The support of aiglx by fglrx in future mayby is a configency but I wan't to use my hardware just now. Chris
Re: Xgl packages for debian?????
if you use the open source driver your ati will work with aiglx but if you use a graphic card which doesn't supported by the open driver you have problem :) Christos On 12/12/06, Mathias Brodala <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hello. Re: azx_get_response -- please help!
Ok lets start. If you add a module of kernel in the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist with the structure "blacklist module_name" in the next boot the kernel will not load the module. With this trick you can boot many problems which have problem with some modules. So you can boot on the system and then you can make the necessary upgrades modules or everything else. Makes it sense to add the module to the blacklist and recompile the kernel? What effect has adding to the blacklist? Re: azx_get_response -- please help!
I had the same problem on my laptop. Your problem occured mayby by some modules which can't recognize your hardware, I think... So you should add these modules in the blacklist and after If you can boot on your system install a newier version of linux kernel and after remove the modules from blacklist and boot with the new kernel. If you want more info just tell me my case:http://www.debianhelp.org/node/1407Christos
Re: Problem with soundcard
I fixed my problem. I added the snd in the blacklist and I brang off to boot on debian. After I installed the last kernel image from unstable and I removed the snd from blacklist. After I boot with the new kernel and there wasn't any problem the soundcard also works vary good. Christos

Problem with soundcard
Before some weeks I bought a very nice laptop, the PA 1510. I am tring to install debian testing on it... I have tried the gui and the classic installation and I hadn't any problem. The problem is that when I am trying to boot the debian system the coptuter show me the message"hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC861 trying auto-probe from Bios" and after the system hangs and repeat the message "azx_get_reponse timeout". The ALC861 is my sound card. I tried to give some parametres to grub in order to load the debian system. I tried noapic, noacpi but nothing. Also the laptop works fine with ubuntu :(.
Trouble with Debian etch on fujitsu-siemens PA1510.

Re: AMD 64 Dual Core questions
I bought before some weeks a laptop with an amd turion x2 cpu. That cpu is dual core and of course 64bit. I tested the laptop with debian etch 32bit and etch 64bit. The cpu works in both architectures amazing good. But if you want the 32bit debian I suggest you to use the k7 version of kernel because the x86 can't recognize the dual core of the cpu... I hope that that I helped you.Christos

Re: mp3 players with Debian (samsung and iriver)
You have to know that some models, for example sony mp3s, need a special software in order to download mp3s from your computer. So you have to check if there is a software for linux. But I think is better for everyone to buy a mp3 which doesn't need any software... Christos

Re: Is KDE difficult to use?
Kde is more powerfull than gnome and it has more features and very good apps. Try kopete amarok kdevelop and korganizer! Also Kde is faster than gnome. Also if you love visualisations and tricks try superkaramba and its themes. If you see vista screenshots you will think that superkaramba "copies " vista but in reality this is wrong superkaramba is reality in kde for more than two years. Mayby Bill loves kde and superkaramba project!!! :) Christos

So it appears KDE removes the icon of a USBdevice only when the sync is complete. I am surprised Gnome doesn't do so. BTW, I let udev mount the pluggable devices automatically. If youare using fstab to do so, you can fix the mount options to set sync tohappen every time the USB device is accessed.->HS --To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]with a subject of "unsubscribe".
