How to build a chroot jail with mysql client and cron in it?
Hi, I need a chroot jail with access to a mysql client (which, of course, must have access to the mysql server) and with cron in it. Building an ordinary jail was no problem, but myql and cron keep me busy. First attempts showed some problems with files and permissions, also cron amd nysql shpould be available to multiple jails... Could anybody give a hint how to do it? Thank you very much for your attention! Peter

instalacion problematica
Hola: Hace unos dias reinstale mi Woody, (el tema es aplicable a cualquier distro, pues eso, lo reinstale y a mitad de instalacion un monton de paquetes imposibles de localizar (el KDE, Gnome , las X vamos). Volvi a bajar las ISO de los CD que fallaban, para nada, el problema persistia, asi que sospechando un fallo en mi lectora DVD se me ocurrio cambiar los montajes en /etc/fstab, donde ponia cdrom puse mi grabadora DVD, que es externa y ademas conectada por USB (es decir una grabadora normal y corriente conectada con un cable USB y una fuente de alimentacion/transformador) , como no sabia el nombre de unidad asignado recurri a /var/log/dmesg donde me entero que la Philips DVD-RW es /dev/sr0 que fue lo que puse en vez de cdrom y todo se redujo a apt-get updateintento de instalar algun paquete y se me avisa de que algunos paquetes tenian problemas y que probara con apt-get -f install.el resto como la seda. This rejection was the logical answer to the Commission's refusal to restart the legislative process in February and the Council's unwillingness to engage in any kind of dialogue with the Parliament. The FFII congratulates the European Parliament on its clear no to bad legislative proposals and procedures. This is a great victory for those who have campaigned to ensure that European innovation and competitiveness is protected from the threat of software and business process patents. It marks the end of this attempt by the European Commission to codify into law the US-style practice of the European Patent Office. We believe that the Parliament's work, in particular the 21 compromise amendments, provides a good basis on which future legislative projects can build. Rejection provides breathing space for new initiatives based on all the knowledge gained during the last five years. All institutions are now fully aware of the concerns of all stakeholders. However, the fact that the Council Common Position needs 21 amendments in order to be transformed into a coherent piece of legislation indicates that the text is simply not ready to enter the Conciliation between Parliament, Commission and Council. We hope the Commission and Council will at least respond to the concerns raised by Parliament the next time, in order to avoid this sort of backlash in the future. Hola: Ni idea de si es lo que te pasa, pero he leido nosedonde que necesitas crear el initrd (si NO tienes el sistema de ficheros dentro del kernel) o incluir el sistema de ficheros en tu kernel. Prueba a ver si funciona, o comprueba que tengas tu sistema de ficheros para incluir en el kernel y NO como modulo. Un saludo. Resumo por si alguien no pilla muy bien el Inglés o no tiene tiempo de leer la noticia: MS va por los colegios contando esto de Linux: * NO existe soporte alguno sobre Linux * Open Office es COMPLETAMENTE incompatible con documentos MS * Trabajo en red con Linux es casi IMPOSIBLE * el kernel de Linux está en constante desarrollo por lo que es inestable * formar a gente en OSS aumenta el TCO * Linux ya no es dominante en los servidores por lo que pierdes soporte NO espero (y NO quiero) que se monte un hilo de discusión sobre este tema, todos los de esta lista tenemos MUY claro que esto es COMPLETAMENTE FALSO por lo que no me gustaría que perdieramos el tiempo afirmando lo falso que es todo esto. Prefiero que hagáis llegar este link a TODA persona que reciba estas mentiras de MS. Solo comentar, cada logro, cada cosa que funciona como se espera (o mejor) cada cosa nueva que se aprende o que se descubre me hace alegrarme mas por mi eleccion. unos dicen que la distro mas atrasada, mas retrograda, menos amigable, que si Slackware, SuSE, Mandriva, RH, Fedora, Gentoo. pues no, me quedo con Debian, asi que animo y disfrutalo.merece la pena. Docbook, Openoffice, Abiword, proprietäre Formate, Wiki Markup, Xhtml, teX, pdf... und alle zueinander nur begrenzt kompatibel. Grausam. Wirklich peinlich für die ganze IT Branche. Mir ist klar, dass genau deshalb XML existiert. Aber das gibt es nun schon eine ganze Weile, und wo ist er jetzt, der universale Textkonverter? Müsste doch eigentlich schon fertig sein. Es ist doch eine ungeheure Verschwendung von Energie und Potential, dass sich jeder einzelne User erneut durch dieses Chaos von Textformaten und deren Konvertierung prügeln muss, und letztlich keine wirklich befriedigende Lösung zu finden ist... wie sinnvoll könnten die Menschen Ihre zeit nutzen... Sichere zentrale Benutzerverwaltung - wie geht das?
hallo, nach einigem Suchen und lesen bin ich, wie so oft mit Linux, gar nicht mehr so sicher, was denn nun ruichtig ist oder nicht. Was ich möchte: in einem kleinen netz alle logins zentral verwalten mit home-verzeichnissen auf einem server. schnell findet man hierfür die wohl klassische Lösung: nis + nfs Allerdings liest mna dann auch wieder oft, dass nfs und nis überhaupt nicht sicher seien. Sicher soll es schon sein. zumindest wäre es witzlos, benutzeraccounts einzurichten, wenn jeder dem anderen ins Homeverzeichnis reinschreiben kann... Kann mir hier jemand einen Tip geben oder auf ein halbwegs aktuelles Tutorial verweisen? Wie realisiere ich eine zentrale Benutzerverwaltung, die auch sicher ist? Am besten sogar mit verschlüsseltem $HOME... DANKE!!! woody courier-user aufgepasst!
Hi, wahrscheinlich bin ich eh der einzige, der courier-mta noch aus woody benutzt, jedenfalls gab es da vor kurzem ein security update und danach konnte man keine Mails mehr verschicken (yeah, so stellt man sich seemless updates vor ;) ) Es lag hier daran, dass die Datei /etc/courier/authmodulelist bei dem Update gelöscht wurde. Nein, natürlich habe ich bei dem Upgrade darauf beharrt, dass ich meine alte Konfiguration behalte! Der Fehler äussert sich im Log mit dem Hinweis: courieresmtpd: /usr/lib/courier/courier/modules/esmtp/authstart: cannot read authmodulelist. Mailempfang geht noch, aber das relaying funktioniert nicht mehr. Wenn man die fehlende Datei wiederherstellt (natürlich macht man auch auf einem Debian-System vor einem update backups!) läuft alles wieder. Nur so als Warnung. Hab mir zwar das howto durchgelesen, aber das hilft mir nicht dabei zu verstehen, wieso denn jetzt eine pcmcia karte mit einem normalen netzwerktreiber läuft. Wieso gibts dann überhaupt extra Treiber für pcmcia-netzwerkkarten? Naja, und die Readme-2.4 macht es jetzt auch nicht gerade unkomplizierter, vor allem, wenn man nicht genau weiss, ob das auch für bf24 gilt, was da drin steht. Wenn ich die config für bf24 richtig sehe, sind die pcmcia services aber eben NICHT in diesem kernel eingebaut, oder, womit die Informationen aus dem README-2.4 File in /usr/doc/pcmcia keine bedeutung hätten für bf24? mann oh mann... manchmal wünsche ich mir, es gäbe nicht sooo viel Dokumentation für Linux, zumindest wäre es toll, wenn auf einem installierten System auch nur die Doku landet, die für genau dieses System relevant ist... wäre ja mal ein Projekt fürs hohe Rentenalter, oder ich geh zum Sozialamt und mach endlich nur noch das, was mir Spass macht... ;) danke jedenfalls für Eure Unterstützung! PCMCIA Netzwerkkarte wird nicht erkannt
Hi, also ich hab wirklich relativ selten damit zu tun, Rechner einzurichten und meistens geht auch alles auf Anhieb ohne Schwierigkeiten, und genau deshalb häng ich jetzt ganz schön blöde in der Luft und weiss nicht weiter: Eine pcmcia netzwerkkarte wird nicht erkannt, no Device heisst es beim manuellen versuch, das netzwerk hochzubringen. Dabei ist der Treiber für die Karte angeblich im kernel (8139too) pcnetconfig gibts irgendwie nicht auf dem rechner und ich bin mit der Doku nicht gerade weit gekommen... jemand einen Tipo, wie ich weiter vorgehen kann? Wie kann man den Inhalt zweier Verzeichnisse auf Gleichheit überprüfen?
Hi, wie kann man am besten feststellen, ob zwei Verzeichnisse denselben Inhalt haben, rekursiv? Was wäre da das Tool der Wahl? Oder muss man da selber ein Script schreiben, dass von jedem File eine checksumme bildet? Ich hatte noch den gedanken, einen rsync dry-run dafür zu benutzen? Danke für die Aufmerksamkeit! Hi, ich bin etwas verunsichert was diesen kürzlich veröffentlichten ptrace exploit angeht- wenn ich jetzt ein system habe, welches den 2.2.20-idepci kernel benutzt, ist der fehler dann da noch drin, ja? mir ist bei den letzten apt-get upgrades nicht aufgefallen, dass der kernel ausgewechselt wurde... Deinterlacer
Hi. I'm experiencing some problems taking snapshots with an AXIS 2420 Webcamera. The pictures in hires are interlaced and i need to know if there is any deinterlacer program i can use. I know there are lots of those programs for a platform which name i are prohibited to say in this list ;) but surely there must exist many of these for the GNU/Linux (Debian) platform as well. Perhaps there exists a package to install. It would be nice if the deinterlacer was a stand alone filter which i could use in the following manner. deinterlace -someflag source dest /peterh
USB-CAM
Is there any tutorial of how to mount a digital camera with USB- interface. I Need total guidance since i don't now anything about how to do it. The only thing i grab right now is how i physichally attach the camera to my computer. But which configs are neccesary and how do i retreive files. Has the host conny got either a valid DNS record on a reachable DNS server that's in /etc/resolv.conf or else an entry in /etc/hosts? solved: Set and read time
It was fairly easy when i understood the format of the time string. date -s 2002-05-26 15:00 As i've got many answers which suggests pulling the time from NTP-servers i must add (which i forgot in the original post) that i needed to set the time in a standalone application. Just a few industrial PC:s will be hooked up in a small network all using the eth0-ports. Now there is an eth1-port as well, which i'll use to hook up network cameras. one camera per computer. It is very important that the camera clock and the computers clock are syncronized. So therefore i have set up a NTP server in the computer for the camera to sync with. Hello. I will use two small industrial PC:s in an application. The computers has both two ethernet ports. eth0 and eth1. I got problems when i configured them in /etc/network/interfaces. My first config was to set up both eth0 and eth1 on the same network: 10.0.0.0 at IP:s 10.0.0.50 and 10.0.0.51 for the first computer and 10.0.0.60 and 10.0.0.61 for the second one. My problem seemed to be that the traffic was routed thru eth0 or eth1 randomly after every reboot. As i'm going to hook up work cameras to eth1 on both computers i must somehow configure the interfaces differently to be able to establish any contact with the cameras. Therefore i set up /etc/network/interfaces to let eth1 use a completly different network, which will guaretee me the traffic between the camera and the computer uses eth1 and not eth0. Lets say i use the 192.168.0.0 network for the camera - computer comms. and the 10.0.0.0 network for the computer - computer comms. Now, as the camera has a built in webserver for configuration. It must be accessible from the 10.0.0.0 network as well. I guess that meens i have to route traffic from the 10.0.0.0 network to the 192.168.0.0 network and here is where my knowledge betrays me. I hope you understand what my problem is, beeing a swedish guy trying to describe my problems in english isn't very easy, especially when it comes to technical english. best regards Peterh.

Hej. Jag vet egentligen inte hur detta fungerar men det lär väl visa sig om jag får några svar. Jag är väl att betrakta som nybörjare på Linux trots att jag hållit på med datorer i övrigt rätt mycket. Nåja min fråga är: Jag försöker installera jed med: apt-get install jed Men det är nån proxyinställning som jag inte hittar. Burken jag sitter med har installerats av ett annat företag och det är deras nätverksinställningar med mera som är inlagda. Jag har exvis lyckats pilla in våran DNS genom att ändra i filen /etc/resolve.conf Jag har dessutom satt upp eth0 och eth1 att passa för vårt nätverk genom att ändra i /etc/network/interfaces så jag har kontakt med internet och så. Vi kör ip-rymd 10.0.0.1-10.0.0.254 och företaget som installerade burken hade 192.168.x.x och det är alltså nåt fel jag får när jag kör apt-get install om att det är nåt med proxy och den adressen som dom har på sin firma där burken installerades. Jag fick hjälp av en fd kollega med den första burken av två, men nu har jag lyckats glömma bort namnet på den filen han gick in i och fixade till detta.
