Try hdb=scsi hdc=scsi instead. That's what works for me.

I have tried this and then at least the ide-driver did not grab the CD-writer. But 
still 
cdrecord -scanbus
did not find it.

I have tried a lot of combinations loading and removing the modules in different 
orders with 
modprobe and with hdb=ide-scsi hdc=ide-scsi and hdb=scsi hdc=scsi. No success. In 
the end I 
have compiled a new kernel with scsi emulation and ... support (I forgot the exact 
name) compiled in.
Then it worked! 
But only for curiosity: Why didn't it work with the modules?

Hi,
in my computer is a ATAPI IDE CD-writer (and another CDROM). But cdrecord -scanbus 
finds only my 
scsi hard disk.
In lilo.conf there is a line
append=hdb=ide-scsi hdc=ide-scsi 

dmesg:
...
Kernel command line: auto BOOT_IMAGE=Linux ro root=802 hdb=ide-scsi hdc=ide-scsi

scsi1 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices
...

There is nothing else about hdb and hdc.

lsmod:
...
ide-scsi7680   0
...

modprobe -r ide-scsi
modprobe -a ide-scsi
gives no message, but lsmod gives the same result as above. What can I do that the 
CD-writer is
recognized as a scsi-device? Or is there another way to make the CD-writer work? I 
have installed
woody with the kernel 2.4.18-k7.

printing problem with netatalk: multiple copies

Hi,
I have problems with the behaviour of lpr (woody). When I try to print something, the 
system 
sends (sometimes) an email, that the job could not be printed, but it is printed up to 
five times. 

I am using netatalk, but I do not know if it is part of the problem. 
I have found a problem description at

but I am not really able to decide if that is also my problem. If yes, what else can I 
do except
hacking the code? 
If no, what can I do to find out what the problem is?
