Please fill a bug against `iceweasel' package on BTS, this is clearly
and issue with GNOME themes.

If you don't know how to fill the bug then you should read

A strange problem with iceweasel & gnome themes

2007-04-19 Thread Martin Weinberg
After the final update to etch as stable I noticed the following
behavior:

whenever I try to save a file, print a file with iceweasel (anything
that tries to bring up the file dialog), the browser crashes.

After some trial and error and use of strace, it appears to be
correlated with opening icon directories. Iceweasel will only work
for me with the default gnome theme, not any of the extra themes.

This only happens on one installation (on a T41p laptop runing a
custom 2.6.19 kernel with standard xorg radeon not firegl). My
desktop also running etch has no problems with themes so I tried
reinstalling all of the theme packages, iceweasel, tried it with and
without plugins, checked permissions on the /usr/share/icons dirs
(ok). It tried removing and/or updating icon cache. Still the same.

I tried the same experiment as a "fresh" user, changing nothing about
the default configuration but the theme: same behavior.

Any ideas???

P.S. I'm happy to use the default theme, but I'd like to know what is
going on here.

TIA!

If no one in this list has explanation to the problem we're facing ( no
matter how *small* ) I think tracing and bug reporting will be suitable
to find out why.

Well, yes, that helped. :-) I wanted to find out what caused it so I
wouldn't have to do that, but in the end, it probably was the most
efficient way indeed.

Thanks,
Tom

Some Gnome themes not displaying properly...?

2005-07-18 Thread Tom
Hey ho,

On this new Debian installation, after I installed some gtk2-engine
packages, some of them just don't seem to display properly.

Some do, but most don't (Gorilla, Industrial, Clearlooks, Bluecurve
etc.). I can select them in gnome-theme-manager just fine, but what
I get is just a default theme (or rather, for some reason, the Mist
theme). The GTK stock icons, however, change appropriately.

Restarting Gnome or even X doesn't help; building the engines myself
doesn't change anything either. No relevant error messages appear
when I start gnome-theme-manager from a command line. I honestly have
no idea what might be the cause of this.

Has anyone seen something like this before? Or would somebody know
what I might be missing, package or setting wise?

Cheers,
Tom

Don't waste your time: I found out what it is. Just deinstalled the
Geramik theme an engine, and now themes and fonts are fine. I will
report it to the appropriate bug list!

Thanks,

Nacho.

Gnome themes don't work

2003-10-15 Thread Nacho de los Ríos Tormo
I have just reinstalled Debian Sid on a new hard disk and have found
this problem with Gnome 2.2 themes I didn't have before:

In any theme I choose except for SphereCrystal, buttons appear in the
Geramik style (although in the chosen theme colors). Windows decorations
change all right with the theme, and the icons change too, but the
toolbars and the menubar remain *always* Geramik (even in
SphereCrystal). And font kind and size choices are ignored.

What can this be?

Thanks for your help,

Nacho de los Ríos.

Try the gtk-engine-* packages.

Gnome Themes

2002-09-30 Thread Jerry Van Brimmer

I have Woody installed, with KDE as my prime desktop. However, when I
run gnomecc and select the Theme Selector, I only have one theme to
select: Default. I'd like more themes to select from because I use
Evolution. I have searched through all of my CDs with dselect, but I
can't find which package to install to have more Gnome themes. Which
package is it?

Thanks

No, only the window borders will look the same.

If you run an application remotely, the entire window is exported to
your machine including the theme used on the remote machine. If you want
your apps on machine 1 to look the same as those on machine 2, you need
to either:
 1) Install the same themes on both computers.
 2) or export your themes _and_ ~/.gtkrc on machine 2 via some kind of
network file system.

At least, this is how believe it works.

Getting Gnome themes respected when xhosting

1999-05-29 Thread Eric House
Scenario: Machine 1 running Gnome with theme 1; machine 2 running Gnome
with theme 2. I run gtk/themes-aware application on machine 1 but
displayed on machine 2 via xhosting.

Expected result: application is rendered with theme 2 like all the other
windows on the desktop. This is the proper model as established by X.

Actual result: application shows up with theme 1 and so looks different
from all the other apps on machine 2's display. If I change themes on
machine 1, the application's appearance on machine 2 changes.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Is this the right place to ask?

Thanks,

I have seen this before. Unfortunately, the layouof some themes
tarballs seems to differ in some ponit that make it unusable with the
gnome-cc.

I have installed such a theme in

Gnome themes

1999-05-24 Thread Jason Murray
I'm having a little trouble attempting to install themes for gnome (gtk). I've
downloaded a few from gtk.themes.org. When I go to install them from the
control center it doesn't seem to work.

Here's what I do. In the "Theme Selector" I hit the "Install new theme..."
button. Then I navigate my way to the directory that contains the gtkrc file.
I select that file. It tells me: "Error installing theme: .../gtkrc Unknown
file format"

Obviously I am doing something wrong. I don't know what.

When I get this method working (with some help) does it make this theme only
available to the user who installed it? I am assuming yes. If that is the
case, how do I make the themes available to the other users on the system?
I.e. do I put it in /usr/share/some/path?

BTW I have GNOME from potato, and I've got the gtk-engines-* packages
installed.

TIA
