DansGuardian - Error connecting via IPC socket to log
Hello there! I have a server running DansGuardian 2.9.7.0 on Debian Sarge with the kernel 2.6.8. Re: \\maquina\IPC$
Dramon. A pc with XFree 4.0.1 as X terminal for a SparcStation IPC
Hello, I've just installed potato on an old sparcstation IPC. I've set up my PC running XFree 4.0.1 (SuSE distrib.) so it acts as the sparc's X terminal (I just have the IPC box). It all seems to go ok, I get the xdm login panel. However, when I log in, the colors are all very poor, it seems that the clients are running at 8 bpp. The X server is running at 16 bpp. Any advise will be welcome. -- Rafael

SPARC machines (and especially the 32-bit ones) are not known for their graphics... the IPC is no exception. Chances are that you have either a CG3 or a CG6 (aka. GX) in your IPC. Neither are cabaple of more than 8-bit graphics, and I'm sorry to say you have no alternative for more than 8-bit.

Hi, Does anyone know what standard Linux/Debian conformes to in regardes to IPC? I recently picked up W. Richard Stevens boot: Unix Network Programming Volume 2 [Interprocess Communications]. None of the programs inclded with the book will compile on either Debian or Redhat. From what I understand Linux doesn't even conform to Posix1. You can use UNIX domain sockets and the System V IPC (shmget, shmctl, etc.) It's likely that the problem is some sort of header or linking problem, these things differ from one UNIX platform to another. What errors are you getting when you try to compile the sample programs? From what I understand Linux doesn't even conform to Posix1.
