Re: staroffice / netscape debian packages?

 Hi!

It may have been asked before but I didnt find it in my messagebase
(must have been flushed out already.):

 1) is there a staroffice debian package? if yes, where?

There is a staroffice installer package just uploaded to Incoming. We are not
allowed to distribute staroffice itself.

 2) is there a netscape debian package? if yes, where? does not have to
be the newest version, more important is wether is runs stable

there is a netscape installer package for 3.01 in contrib, communicator is
being worked on.

 3) does the dosemu supports Windows?

Not really. There are a couple of win emulators available: wine and twin.
Twin hasn't been packaged yet, but is being worked on, and wine is available
in project/experimental.

Is there a debian ppc in development? I look forward to buy a ppc
based machine next year, either a CHRP or a Amiga successor ;-)

Yes there is. AFAIK, they are just getting started.

Please take a look at the DOSEMU-HOWTO, it's stated there that WinOS32
the 32bit windows emulator from OS/2 will work - but still some
applications won't work.

WinOS2 not an emulator per say, it's based on the same code that Microsoft
used in win 3.1, but patched by IBM so that it could load on top of OS/2.
Therefore, if you have a copy of it, you can also use it to load on top of
dosemu. However, remember to legally use it, you must own a copy of os/2.
Then again, you could probably find an old version of Os/2 (like 2.0)
lying around somewhere for cheap.

Hello,

I have OS/2 Warp 3.0 with Winos2. Has anyone actually used Winos2 on top of
dosemu.? If so would you describe the steps necessary to do this or point me to
information which describes these steps?

Thanks,

Victor

The README.TXT and dosemu-HOWTO.txt files included with the DOSEMU source
distribution describe the steps. I don't know if they are in the .deb
package, as I have compiled and installed DOSEMU from the source. (I
have NOT tried installing Win3.1 in DOSEMU, however. One of these days
I'll get a round tuit.)

There is an excellent DOSEMU mailing list, linux-msdos@vger.rutgers.edu
(subscription requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]).

Look in /usr/doc/dosemu, there's a bunch of docs their, and I believe one
on setting up windows.
