Bug#134215: ITP: rosegarden4 -- A sequencer and musical notation editor application

2002-02-16 Thread Enrique Robledo Arnuncio

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

I intend to package development releases of rosegarden4. They would
initially go to experimental, until the application reaches a more
usable state.

Package: rosegarden4
Version: 0.1.3, or later
License: GPL
URL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/rosegarden
Needs: KDE
Description: Rosegarden-4 is a new sequencer and musical notation
editor application. This is an early release of the application,
intended for potential developers and other interested parties. It
is not an application that is usable by real users yet.
 .
Note that Rosegarden-4 is largely not based on Rosegarden-2.1 code
and is not yet a solution for people who find Rosegarden-2.1 in any
way unreliable or limiting. This program is far more unreliable and
 far more limiting.

For the reasons pointed in the description, I won't replace the old
application, although package name changes will probably come in
future, to allow a smooth transition of the plain "rosegarden"
package name; something like:

rosegarden: Dummy package, depending on rosegarden2, until rosegarden4
 is oficially released.
rosegarden2: The old rosegarden application.
rosegarden4: The new one.

If someone has a better suggestion for this name transition, it would
be really welcome.

   Enrique.

Phil, what would you recommend? Can either emulator be made to behave
the other way, or will the package have to include both?

intel2gas 1.3.3 (c)1999 Mikko Tiihonen ([EMAIL PROTECTED])

This program converts assembler source from Intel (NASM), to AT&T (gas)
syntax. It is FREE SOFTWARE under the terms of the GNU General Public
License (GPL), enclosed in the file 'COPYING'.

1. What's this?
---

Intel2gas is a small text parser that can convert assembler source
written in NASM syntax to gas syntax. And nowadays
more often also the other way.

The program does minimal error checking and does not understand the
text it's converting. It's just tries to find matches from its syntax
database.

Another Yahoo messenger client - this is console based and has a guile
interface so that you can extend it's functionality a lot. I am in
touch with upstream, and am now part of their project. Lead developer
is Anand Babu. This package will depend on libyahoo that I ITP'ed a
while ago.

Hi all, I would like to package dvips-fontdata-n2bk which is
a set of virtual font data to convert Dai-Nippon fonts, which are
used in dvi files generated by NTT-JTeX, to Japanese built-in fonts
in PostScript printer.

It was downloaded from
ftp://ftp.math.s.chiba-u.ac.jp/tex/dvips-usage/n2bk.tar.gz

Upstream Author: Takafumi Sakurai <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Copyright:

All the data are generated from freely distributable font metrics.

BTW, this package was packaged privately by a Japanese user
at first and he asked me recently to upload it as an official
Debian package because it will be useful for many users of
NTT-JTeX.

Best regards, 2002.1.2

information from for a given hostname, and follows the chain of DNS
servers back to the servers which know the data.
 .
It outputs information in an easily readable tree-fashioned way.

I haven't been properly maintaining abiword. Since I took it over
because it was falling into disrepair, it would be ironic for me to
hold it frozen in time like its previous maintainer. I have not been
using AbiWord often, and am no longer actively involved upstrem.

The package has no RC bugs. There are newer versions available that
should probably be packaged. Many people have requested a package of
the Gnome build. As the current maintainer I am not interested in
this, but the future maintainer probably should implement this by
popular demand. However, I insist that a simple GTK version always be
available within Debian, hopefully as the default package.

Whoever takes over the package should see bug#118221. This bug in a
GTK script will cause AbiWord to sometimes link with the wrong version
of libstdc++. This can create an annoying dependency, and the last
time I looked at this bug the dependency on libstdc++3 that it was
creating caused it to be kept out of testing. As a hack, I have been
careful to only build AbiWord without libstdc++3 installed. Whoever
takes over AbiWord ought to either add a conflict with libstdc++3-dev
for the architectures that do not use g++ 3.0 by default, or petition
to get the patch included in #118221 applied.

Package: wnpp

MailScanner is a freely distributable E-Mail gateway virus scanner
and spam detector. It uses sendmail or Exim as its basis, and a choice of
7 commercial virus scanning engines to do the actual virus scanning.
It can decode and scan attachments intended solely for Microsoft Outlook
users (MS-TNEF). If possible, it will disinfect infected documents and
deliver them automatically. It also has features which protect it against
 Denial Of Service attacks.

This patch changes the default penguin logo into a Debian swirl.

It is one of the examples I created for the package fblogo, as people
seem to like it I'll create a kernel patch package. It will work with
 2.2.x and 2.4.x kernels.

 Preliminary debs are avaliable at:

 deb[-src] http://freakzone.net/ debian/

 License is GPLv2

I'm kind of stuck. The package depends on a gigantic map dataset, for
which the best place is really the "data" section, which still hasn't
been created.

Hi,

I'm at a conference ATM, and I'm going to introduce a few people to the
concepts of key signing tomorrow. For this, I've hacked a few scripts, for
example one that makes a PS file which looks like "gpg --list-keys" output
(except with a nicer font), which I'd like to package so people can use
them for their own signing parties. Version 0.1-1 will only be these two
scripts, for 0.2-1 I'm also planning exhaustive documentation (HOWTO
signing-party, HOWTO explain the concept).

I don't have the stuff downloadable yet but I hope to get this done before
Sunday. The package will definitely not be ready before Sunday evening
since I don't have access to my GPG key remotely (as it should be).

   Simon

I intend to package 3 kernel modules, namely tipar.o, tiser.o,
tiusb.o. The tidev-modules-source package will allow the administrator
to generate a package with custom-built modules, as do i2c-source or
lm-sensors-source and others.

These 3 drivers will allow any user[1] to use TiLP (see #131087) without
the superuser privileges.

The libticables3 (not yet released) package will build-depend on it.

License : GPL

Test package available on http://people.debian.org/~jblache/

If nobody objects, I will upload this package in a few days.

JB.

Description: exchange data with Siemens mobile phones
SCMxx is a console program that allows you to exchange certain types of
data with mobile phones made by Siemens. Some of the data types that can
be exchanged are logos, ring tones, vCalendars, phonebook entries, and
SMS messages. It works with the following models:
 S25,
 S35i, M35i and C35i,
 SL45, S45 and ME45
 and probably others.
It basically uses the AT command set published by Siemens

Michael

well, i have to change the name of the executable to not
conflict with /bin/arch, and i'm already somehow busy for
the next week (perhaps two), but nevertheless i plan to
build a package of arch:

arch is a revision control system with features that are ideal for
projects characterized by widely distributed development, concurrent
support of multiple releases, and substantial amounts of development on
branches.

retitle 88901 RFP: mdbtools -- utilities to facilitate exporting data from MS
Access
thanks

Since I no longer need this for work (and haven't for some time) I'm
unlikely to ever finish packaging it. It'd be nice if someone else
did though...

Due to the licence conditions, we certainly can't modify xzx to expect
the ROMs to be in multiple files; the licence permits us to compile and
run xzx, and that's about it. Fuse obviously is modifiable to do
this; the original 'decision' to have the ROMs in multiple files was
based purely on that's how I organise the ROMs for other
Spectrum-related stuff I do; it would be a pretty trivial patch to
expect the ROMs to be in one file.

At the moment, I'm not sure it's worth worrying about xzx that much
unless someone is going to get the package up to date: the version in
Debian is currently 2.9.0 (released May 1999), whereas the current
version is 4.0, with 4.1 due out soon.

Ah, I hadn't looked at that closely enough.

I've uploaded spectrum-roms to http://incoming.debian.org/, with the
larger ROMs in multiple 16K files. Feel free to have a look.

Description: Progeny graphical installer creation system
This package contains PGI, a multi-architecture graphical installation
system for Debian GNU/Linux originally developed by Progeny Linux Systems,
Inc., for their Debian-based "Progeny Debian" operating system.
 .
This package enables the user to create ISO images for burning to
recordable CD and DVD media which contain a bootable installer (PGI) which
guides the user through the steps of installation. The installer supports
both text mode and graphical installation modes. PGI runs debootstrap
to install a minimal Debian system to the target filesystem(s), and (if
the installing user requests) sets up a boot loader, and uses the
pivot_root() system call to "boot" into the installed system. ISO images
may be generated with complete or partial Debian package archives, or with
only the installer (useful for network-only installs, which PGI supports.)
 .
PGI is extensible and customizable. Two example extensions are provided
with this package; one uses the base-config package, while the other
configures the system using the X-based Configlet system.
 .
Two manuals are provided as part of this package: "Creating Debian
Installers with PGI" and an example user's manual for PGI. Those creating
custom installers with PGI will want to update the user's manual as well.
