Sorry that I've been MIA about this, I've been very busy at my day job
recently... I am almost done with packaging readpst, I just need to find
half an hour to write a manpage for readpstlog...maybe tonight.

AFAIK, Dave has pretty much ceased working on libpst...Though he can
probably speak to this better than I can.

I don't see any nor do I have any knowledge of why there might be a
legal issue with readpst. Then again, IANAL. I will post to
debian-legal when the package is complete asking their opinion on this
matter.

Thanks for the prodding!

I would like you to rephrase "application and network monitoring". It's not

Well, I took the upstream author description...

This software is a nagios/bb like tool, written in php, so it can
monitors services and much more by using agents (cpu, mem...). It can use
snmp too, make graphs like mrtg of collected informations, make network
mapsetc.

The best think you can do is to take a look at the homepage. This ITP
was just to informs that I'm working on the package, but at this time I
haven't choosed definitive descriptions...I expect to work actively on it
next week-end;-))

Zabbix itself is in beta stage, but I think it's an interesting tool.
The upstream author is really a debian user and dev. it on woody, so we
will work together to make the upstream package close to a debian
package

Bug#189146: ITA: pingus

2003-04-15 Thread Peter van Rossum
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Pingus is a free Lemmings clone. For several years now, the upstream
code has not been in very good shape. A new release (0.6.0) is now
imminent and is an enormous improvement. It does not have very many
levels yet, but is very much playable.

Unless someone has objections, I would like to take over maintainance
of this package. The previous maintainer of pingus was Martin Butterweck
(blendi), who died last year. I think it is appropriate if I remember his
work in the README.Debian.

Simon Richter said in August 2002 that he would adopt the package (see
#158510) but hasn't done so yet. I'd talk to him.

Is there any reason to keep it in the archive?

Bug#189173: ITP: netbrake -- network bandwidth limiting through LD_PRELOAD

2003-04-15 Thread Liyang HU
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2003-04-15
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: netbrake
  Version : 0.1
  Upstream Author : Salvatore Sanfilippo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.hping.org/netbrake/
* License : MIT/X
  Description : network bandwidth limiting through LD_PRELOAD

Netbrake is an utility to limit the incoming bandwidth used by a process
without requiring any kernel modifications, nor root privileges. It uses
a small LD_PRELOAD library to hook into the appropriate library and
system calls.

It is useful for avoiding bandwidth starvation for other applications
e.g. WWW or IRC, when download large files over a slow connection.

An experimental HTTP filesystem is also provided, allowing URLs to be
treated as regular files.

Bug#189186: RFP: kbarcode -- A barcode and label printing application for KDE

Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-04-16
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: kbarcode
  Version : 1.2.0
  Upstream Author : Stefan Onken <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>onki
* URL : http://www.kbarcode.net/

PS - Dave, would you mind checking over the manpage for readpstlog to
make sure the log message types are accurate.

Hello mentors!

I am looking for a sponsor for readpst (source pkg: libpst) [ITP bug
#178113]. Source and testing/binary-i386 packages available at my
private apt repository:

deb http://www.cooper.edu/~nahmia/debian /
deb-src http://www.cooper.edu/~nahmia/debian /

Here's some more information about the package:

License: GPL2
Homepage: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ol2mbox/
Version: 0.4.3 + patches
Build-Depends: debhelper (>> 4.0.0), dpatch
Description: Converts Outlook PST files to mbox and others

 (Personal Folders) file and convert it into mbox, kmail, it's own
 recursive format, or separate each email into it's own file.
 .
 It can currently handle EMails, Folders and most Contacts.

Thanks in advance!

2003-04-15 Thread David Smith

Joe,

The man pages look wonderful! You are correct on guessing the types of
debug output in readpstlog man page. I don't believe you have switched
off the debug though. I expect this is something you will want to do.
You don't want 100MB files appearing on the user's system I believe.
Also, it runs quicker with the debug switched off. Great job, I look
forward to supporting you.

Dave

Well, there isn't (yet) a legal issue as such, but I have heard some
rumours from people who are in the know.

so, I thought I would be pro-active and stop the main development page.
I have still given the code to anyone who asked for it (via email).

I can give you the current code which I believe is quite stable. I will
attach it. Perhaps you can treat it as a snapshot release. Ignore the
debian directory, it was my attempt.

Dave

So it doesn't seem like there is any _real_ issue, he's probably being
(overly) cautious. What do you think? Is it worth posting to -legal?

Thanks for your interest!
