Bug#194117: O: jesred -- A redirector for Squid
Package: wnpp Version: unavailable; reported 2003-05-21 Severity: normal I just orphaned jesred. I haven't used it personally for quite some time, having moved all of my personal adfilter rules over to SquidGuard. There is no upstream movement at all, and the only reported bug is about documentation. Someone skilled in C may want to look at why accelerators don't always work, and don't seem to improve performance that much. The package description is: Jesred is a very fast and highly configurable redirector for the Squid Internet Object Cache. It was derived from Chris Foote's and Wayne Piekarski's Squirm 1.0 betaB and some code from Squid itself, but is about 2-3x faster than the original version and has some additional features. -- Zed Pobre [EMAIL PROTECTED] a.k.a. Unless somebody has serious reason to refuse this package entering Debian, I will package and upload it. I have one: it's probably quite useless to package it. You want to make sure you don't make things worse, so you won't want to touch your /var/lib/dpkg/status too much by installing this, while on the other hand people will probably not install this package 'just in case'. It's a nice thing to have, but I think it'll require another distribution method to be fully useful. -- Debian GNU/Linux -- http://www.debian.org Nederlandstalige Linux-documentatie -- http://nl.linux.org An expert can usually spot the difference between a fake charge and a full one, but there are plenty of dead experts. -- National Geographic Channel, in a documentary about large African beasts. pgpFHJ1m1E39r.pgp Description: PGP signature

You might want to think about perhaps renaming it to 'status-rebuild', 'dpkg-rebuild' sounds a bit to generic too me. Furthermore, did you talk with the dpkg about using the dpkg-namespace? Perhaps they'd like to integrate that script into dpkg proper, once it's proved to work. (I cc'ed debian-dpkg) cheers, Michael
