Description : leightweight C library for daemons

libdaemon is a leightweight C library which eases the writing of UNIX
daemons. It consists of the following parts:
  * A wrapper around fork() which does the correct daemonization
procedure of a process
  * A wrapper around syslog() for simpler and compatible log output to
Syslog or STDERR
  * An API for writing PID files
  * An API for serializing UNIX signals into a pipe for usage with
select() or poll()

Routines like these are included in most of the daemon software
available. It is not that simple to get it done right and code
duplication cannot be a goal.

The new version of ifplugd depends on this library, that's why it is
 needed.

That's your 3rd ITP for a groupware suite, the other two haven't even

Did you bother to check the OGo developers mailinglist? I've been working
on them since they went public yesterday and I've got multiple rough-cut
packages rolled by now. I've also been in contact with some of the OGo

Do you have a strong argument as to why you ITPed and should package it?
It is a far better idea to try and look how things work before shouting
out to the world I'm going to package Foo.

Description : 'compiler description language' based on affix grammars

CDL3 (Compiler Description Language) is a language based on affix
grammars. It is intended for development for compilers. It has an
easy to use, yet powerful way to traverse complex datastructures.
 .
The language looks like PROLOG, but is deterministic and strongly
typed. For these reasons, efficiency and static checking are much
better than in PROLOG. CDL3 is available as a compiler generator on
numerous platforms, producing either very efficient assembly code
or (less efficient but portable) C code.
 .
It was developed at the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

I already have a beta version of this package.
CDL3 is a build dependency for my next ITP, AGFL.

AGFL (Affix Grammars over Finite Lattices) is a two-level grammar

AGFL has been written in C, C++ and CDL3.

Surely you can just remove the emacs Build-Depends temporarily in order

Frankly, I have no idea if that would work or not - I tend to believe
a packager when they declare a build-dependancy. In any case, if I
desperately needed python, I'd be more inclined to copy over the native
version from the other side of the box in question, right now (emacs is far
from the only missing build-depend, just the most obviously complex one).

The point being that, after well over six months of porting, the NetBSD
port is not yet at a point where we could, in any meaningful sense, try to
build enough to support mini-dinstall's basic requirements. I'm not trying
to claim this would resolve all the worlds problems, but it's fairly clear
to me that *some* tool which can run on a system with the barest of bones
is useful to at least a few people (given the number who have replied,
but not CC'ed the bug, saying Please let me have it! - not a cast of
thousands, but more than one or two).

Conversely, I had a natively compiled and packaged dpkg, bash, perl, and
coreutils within the first few weeks (modulo some ugly hacks to make
ncurses compile, given the quirks of NetBSD's wide character support).

A side benefit (at least to me) is that it is probably relatively easy to
run it on a non-Debian system, since (so far) the only Debian-specific tool
is dpkg.

I am orphaning the calc package; it is now included in the GNU Emacs
CVS, and will be in the coming 20.3 release. Since I think XEmacs has
their own version of calc, this package will soon have little purpose in
life except to provide calc for Emacs 20 users, who should be switching
to Emacs 21 anyways.

I've CC'd this to the debian-emacsen list in case any Debian Emacs
hacker wants to adopt it.

The Java Development Environment (JDE) is an Emacs Lisp package that
interfaces Emacs to third-party Java application development tools, such
as those provided by JavaSoft's Java Development Kit (JDK). The result
is an integrated development environment (IDE) comparable in power to
many commercial Java IDEs. Features include:

 * source code editing with syntax highlighting and auto indendation
 * automatic completion of class fields and methods
 * compilation with automatic jump from error messages to responsible
   line in the source code.
 * generates class and method skeletons automatically
 * run Java application in an interactive (comint) Emacs buffer
 * integrated debugging with interactive debug command buffer and
automatic display of current source file/line when stepping through
   code
 * browse JDK doc, using the browser of your choice
 * browse your source code, using the Emacs etags facility or a
   tree-structured speedbar.
 * supports latest version of JavaSoft's Java Development Kit
 * runs on any platform supported by Emacs and Sun's Java SDK (e.g.,
   Win95/NT and Solaris)
 * easily and infinitely customizable
 * works with FSF Emacs and XEmacs

Xd3d is a simple but powerful scientific visualization tool designed
to be easy to learn. It can plot 2D and 3D unstructured meshes, with
shadowing, contour plots, vector fields, iso-contour (2D/3D), as well
as 3D surfaces in cartesian, polar or spherical coordinates, described
by an algebraic expression or a cloud of points.

This looks very nice! Do you perhaps already have preliminary packages?
 I'd like to try it.

No, I use xd3d for years, but its author made it free recently, so I did
never compile it before. Before uploading it, I have to ensure that
everything is written in English, and to work on its documentation too,
so it will take some time. As you are interested, I will try to provide
preliminary packages soon.

A very useful feature of orignal Gnome panel was the ability to
swallow other programs -- to embed small applications in the panel,
even if the application was not specifically written for Gnome.
Unfortunately, with the release of Gnome 2 this feature was removed. In
a discussion on the Gnome mailing list, it was pointed out that this
could feature could be easily re-added using a specialized swallower
applet, and that such as solution would be cleaner and more modular
besides. Despite this, no one (to my knowledge) had yet written such an
applet...

Package: cupsomatic-ppd
Version: 0.20010420-4

The Canon LBP-4U, Foomatic + cjet driver for the Canon LBP4 laser
printer requires an executable cjet which does not appear to be in
Debian.

Doing a search package contents on the Debian website revealed that
apsfilter contains a file called cjet, which is NOT the file required
by the above driver. No other instances of cjet were found.

I was able to download the cjet source from the following URL:

  http:/www.ipd.bth.se/ska/sim_home/filer/cjet-0.89.src.tar.gz

Having compiled this and installed the executable in /usr/local/bin, I
then edited the .ppd file generated in /etc/cups/ppd as follows:

Old:

*% COMDATA # 'cmd' = 'gs -q -dBATCH -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=ljet3%A%Z
-sOutputFile=- - | cjet -q%C',

New:

*% COMDATA # 'cmd' = 'gs -q -dBATCH -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=ljet3%A%Z
-sOutputFile=- - | /usr/local/bin/cjet -q%C',

(This line seems only to be in the .ppd file installed in
/etc/cups/ppd; it's not in /usr/share/cups/model/Canon/LBP-4U-cjet.ppd)

The driver now works.

2003-07-11 Thread Martin Andrews
Dear Reader,

No More Accent is an accent reduction product, which helps to remove accents.
For example, an Asian lady (or any nationality) may have communication problems
with her English when speaking to her work mates or friends.

With that in mind, No More Accent teaches Accent Reduction methodologies to
help in this area. In fact, No More Accent can be used in almost any situation
where an accent reduction is required. Even Actors within the Entertainment
Industry have turned to No More Accent as a way to lose or gain an accent of
another nationality.

No More Accent is available in two versions, CD-ROM and VHS Cassette Tape (PAL
and NTSC formats) both can be purchased directly via the www.no-more-accent.com
website.
If you would like further information about our products or services, please
contact myself
when you have a moment.

Best Wishes...
