Description : An image retouching software with features similar to GIMP

CinePaint is image retouching software with features similar to GIMP or
Photoshop. However, two significant enhancements set CinePaint apart. It
handles 16-bit per channel color (48-bit RGB) and has a sequence manager
that facilitates moving through numbered images. That makes it very
useful for manipulating scanned 35mm film. It was used in the production
of Harry Potter, Scooby-Doo, Stuart Little, and other feature films. It
is the most popular open source tool in the motion picture industry.

Bug#200472: pwlib and openh323 adoption

2003-08-02 Thread Mark Purcell
Hi,

I had a look at packaging and have some preliminary packages which do some of
the work,
but libpw/ openh323 are beasts to build, you need lots of swap space.

I'm happy for you to upload the new builds.

Bug#203862: ITP: beneath-a-steel-sky -- a science fiction adventure game

2003-08-02 Thread Tore Anderson
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-08-02
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: beneath-a-steel-sky
Upstream Author : Revolution Software, Inc. http://www.revolution.co.uk/
* URL : http://www.scummvm.org/
* License : Probably not DFSG-free at the moment, hoping
to rectify that.
Description : a science fiction adventure game

  A science-fiction thriller set in a bleak post-apocalyptic vision
of the future, Beneath a Steel Sky revolves around Union City,
where selfishness, rivalry, and corruption by its citizens seems to
be all too common, those who can afford it live underground, away
from the pollution and social problems which are plaguing the city.

You take on the role of Robert Foster, an outcast of sorts from the
city since a boy who was raised in a remote environment outside of
Union City simply termed the gap. Robert's mother took him away
from Union City as a child on their way to Hobart but the helicopter
crashed on its way, unfortunately Robert's mother dies, but he
survives and is left to be raised by a local tribe from the gap.

Years later, Union City security drops by and abducts Robert, killing
his tribe in the process; upon reaching the city the helicopter taking
him there crashes with him escaping, high upon a tower block in the
middle of the city he sets out to discover the truth about his past,
and to seek vengeance for the killing of his tribe.

The game is playable with ScummVM 0.5.0, which I'll upload shortly.

With my work on the firebird packages and the for general lack of
interest and I haven't used them in a while, I'd like someone to adopt
glade and glade-2. I'd like someone to adopt both of them, since that
just makes the most sense. glade-2 is pretty easy to maintain and
upstream is quite responsive about bugs.

Glade is a different matter. It's the version of glade for the gtk 1.2
and gnome 1.x. It's not really supported upstream, but it's still a
useful package to have in the distribution. So ideally someone with some
vested interest in the package and some C programming skills to take
care of the outstanding bugs would be ideal.

Bug#203912: ITP: liblog-log4perl-perl -- A Perl port of the widely popular log4j logging package.

2003-08-02 Thread Manoj Srivastava
Package: wnpp

* Package name: liblog-log4perl-perl

PROTECTED]
* URL or Web page : http://log4perl.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL 1 or later, or Artistic, same terms as perl
Description : A Perl port of the widely popular log4j logging package.
Log::Log4perl is a pure Perl port of the widely popular Apache/Jakarta
log4j library for Java. In the spirit of log4j, Log::Log4perl
addresses the shortcomings of typical ad-hoc or homegrown logging
systems by providing three mechanisms to control the amount of data
being logged and where it ends up at:
 * Levels allow you to specify the priority of log
messages. Low-priority messages are suppressed when the system's
setting allows for only higher-priority messages.
 * Categories define which parts of the system you want to enable
logging in. Category inheritance allows you to elegantly reuse
and override previously defined settings of different parts in the
category hierarchy. So, at a central location in your system (either
in a configuration file or in the startup code) you may specify which
components (classes, functions) of your system should generate logs.
 * Appenders allow you to choose which output devices the log data
is being written to, once it clears the previously listed
   hurdles.
  .

Bug#203924: ITP: libxtemplate-ruby1.8 -- Lightweight XML templating engine like Amrita and XSLT

2003-08-02 Thread akira yamada
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

From homepage URL:http://xtemplate.sourceforge.net/:

XTemplate is a package of Ruby libraries and programs which formats
a XML/HTML document according to a Ruby's data structure which
consists of Hash and Array. This idea comes from Amrita. So we do
not need to explicitly write iterations like for-loop in a template.
Such iterations are indicated by an expansion data. We can specify
a data ID in XPath like expression, and reconstruct a given data in
a template without writing Ruby programs. This mechanism provides
interoperablity between a template and a Ruby script. We can use
XML/YAML documents as an expansion data, since it is automatically
converted to a Ruby's Hash object.

Setof LADSPA plugins that vastlyimprove the sound of
AlsaModularSynth. Currently they consist of these plugins:

Are these really specific to ams? LADSPA-compliant plugins can generally
be used with any LADSPA host software. You might want to update your
descriptions to reflect that fact. Having ams Recommend: this package
should be sufficient to denote the relationship.

Glad to see these getting packaged!

Bug#203911: ITP: tome -- A single-player, text-based, dungeon simulation game.

2003-08-02 Thread David B Harris
I probably don't need to ask this, but the Description below isn't
what you're actually planning on using as the long description, I
imagine? :)

 * License : non-free, freely distributable, not for commercial use
   Description : A single-player, text-based, dungeon simulation game.
Tome, short for Troubles of Middle Earth, is a single-player,
text-based, dungeon simulation derived from the game angband, which
in turn is derived from the older game Moria, which was in turn based
on Rogue. It is often described as a roguelike game because the
look and feel of the game is still quite similar to Rogue.
   .
In tome, the player may choose from a number of races and classes
when creating a character, and then run that character over a
period of days, weeks, even months, attempting to win the game by
defeating Morgoth, who lurks somewhere in the depths of the dungeon.
   .
The ultimate goal of the game is to develop a character strong enough
to defeat Morgoth, who resides on dungeon level 100. Upon doing so,
you will receive the exalted status of winner and your character may
   retire.
   .
The first main difference from Angband a new player to ToME will need
to be aware of is that it has implemented a skills based system where
instead of the adventurer automatically improving in their abilities
as they become more experienced, they get 5 skill points to spend on
their character's abilities and can therefore customise what type of
character they play. See the skills help file for details
   .
The second major difference is that the main dungeon from Angband has
been split into 4 dungeons, each of which cover a different
portion of the dungeon's levels. Note that not all of the places are
actually dungeons - some are caves, forests, etc.
   .
The third main difference between Vanilla Angband and ToME is the
difference in character classes and races, as well as a very
different magic system. ToME also offers the player the ability to
undertake a series of quests. It is not required for any adventurer
to undertake the fixed quests, but they can result in some nice
   rewards.
   .
Morgoth was 'the Dark Enemy of Middle-Earth' during its First Age. He
was banished by the Valar (offspring of Eru, god of J.R.R.
Tolkien's world) at the end of the First Age and thus never appears
in The Lord of the Rings, set during the Third Age. Sauron, who does
figure into those tales, was the most powerful of his servants. Read
Tolkien's 'The Silmarillion' for more on the legends of Middle-Earth.
Angband is a reference to Morgoth's prison of iron.
