Bug#252727: RFP: gimp-gap -- gimp animation package
Hi, I first created the gimp-gap packages back in May 2004 and updated it today to the newest version (2.0.2). You can retrieve it manually by going to http://www.nishra.com/debian/unstable/ or you can put this in your /etc/apt/sources.list: deb http://www.nishra.com/debian/ unstable/ deb-src http://www.nishra.com/debian/ unstable/ Please beware that I have other packages in my repository that could potentially update your packages to unwanted versions. -- Emil Soleyman-Zomalan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I'd like to take this, if nobody else gets to it first (and, if anyone else is interested, I'm sure this would be a package that could benefit from a team ...). I use it from time to time for debian-installer testing, and expect to do so much more with the new PowerMac emulation. -- Colin Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#258900: RFA: qemu -- Fast x86 Processor Emulator
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the qemu package. Upstream author has frequent releases, but still beta or alpha quality; bugs require a fair bit of attention. The package description is: QEMU is a FAST! processor emulator: currently the package supports x86 emulation. By using dynamic translation it achieves reasonable speed while being easy to port on new host CPUs. QEMU has two operating modes: . * User mode emulation: QEMU can launch Linux processes compiled for one CPU on another CPU. * Full system emulation: QEMU emulates a full system, including a processor and various peripherials. It enables easier testing and debugging of system code. It can also be used to provide virtual hosting of several virtual PC on a single server. . As QEMU requires no host kernel patches to run, it is very safe and easy to use. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.22 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C

Bug#251917: package needed for Agata Report
Hola Luiz Carlos Querino Filho! El 09/07/2004 a las 10:50 escribiste: > Unfortunately, I couldn't find a Debian developer to sponsor the > packages, so I abandoned the project. If you are still looking for a sponsor you could try in #debian-devel at irc.debian.org, or [EMAIL PROTECTED] I can't help you with that, since I'm not yet a Debian Developer. Or is it that you need help with finishing the packages? In that case I would be glad to help you. Do you still have the packages you created? Would you like to upload them into a non-official repository? Or do you prefer to drop the ITP and let someone else do it? > If you want, you could try it yourself. I'll be glad to do it, but it would be better if you stayed with the project and uploaded your packages. -- Ate logo, /\/\ /\ ><

Bug#258863: ITP: freepats -- Free patch set for MIDI audio synthesis
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Package name: freepats Version : 20040611 Upstream Author : Various (freepats.opensrc.org) URL : http://freepats.opensrc.org/ License : GPL with extra rights granted Description : Free patch set for MIDI audio synthesis Freepats is a free patchset suitable for MIDI audio synthesis. It is not complete, nor comprehensive yet, and most, if not all patches are in the old and limited GUS patch format. It is, however, the sole DFSG-compliant patch set in existence so far. New patches (including those in better formats, such as SF2 SoundFont banks) are welcome. The modified GPL has this extra clause: As a special exception, if you create a composition which uses these patches, and mix these patches or unaltered portions of these patches into the composition, these patches do not by themselves cause the resulting composition to be covered by the GNU General Public License. This exception does not however invalidate any other reasons why the document might be covered by the GNU General Public License. If you modify these patches, you may extend this exception to your version of the patches, but you are not obligated to do so. If you do not wish to do so, delete this exception statement from your version. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them. One disk to bring them all and in the darkness grind them. Bug#236690: rzip Debian package ready
Hi Stephen, I re-preped the rzip package and put it on the web [1] and uploaded it to the mentors.debian.net repository [2]. The package conforms to the latest policy and is both lintian and linda clean. I've installed it on a few systems and have had no troubles. rzip doesn't look to be in anything resembling rapid development, but I am actively using it and am more than willing to maintain it. Thanks again for offering to upload this and let me know if I overlooked anything! Alec Berryman [1] http://www.thened.net/~alec/stuff/debian/rzip/ [2] http://mentors.debian.net/usage.php

In the debian bug tracking system there is a bug open, because linuxlogo was orphaned. I retitled the bug that I wanted to package linuxlogo. This is the usual way to claim the "right" to package it. The maintainer who filed this bug also mentioned that he knows that you wanted to package it. After a few days there was still no "ITA" (intend to adopt) the package from you. So I did it. Now we have the situation, that I claimed rights for it, but you have already a package. So I suggest, that you retitle the bug again! And go on packaging it. But I will be watching and take over, if there is no package in the near future. Is this OK? Please tell me your plans! Oliver

Currently odbc-postgresql is built as part of the postgresql source package. But we want to split off ancillary packages like this one because of big architectural changes that will be made in the postgresql package and because no maintainer actually uses ODBC. It is not very hard to maintain and it just has 3 open bugs (2 are a bit more tricky, though). If any part of your program calls chdir() or if any library you use calls chdir(), it changes the current working directory for the whole program. . This sucks. . File::chdir gives you an alternative, $CWD and @CWD. These two variables combine all the power of chdir(), File::Spec and Cwd. 'vrfy' is a tool to verify e-mail addresses and mailing lists. In its simplest form it takes an address "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", figures out the MX hosts for "domain", and issues the SMTP command VRFY at the primary MX host (optionally all), or at "domain" itself if no MX hosts exist. Without "domain" it goes to "localhost". . More complex capabilities are: * recursively expanding forward files or mailing lists, * detecting mail forwarding loops, * understanding full-blown RFC822 address specifications, * syntax checking that can be carried out either locally or remotely, * various options provided to exploit alternative protocol suites if necessary, and to print many forms of verbose output. . Obvious limitations exist (mostly due to a lousy VRFY command implementation on some hosts), but otherwise, it works pretty well. -- Martin Michlmayr [EMAIL PROTECTED] --- Received: (at 249717-close) by bugs.debian.org; 11 Jul 2004 06:49:34 + >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Jul 10 23:49:34 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from newraff.debian.org [208.185.25.31] (mail) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1BjY9W-0004eS-00; Sat, 10 Jul 2004 23:49:34 -0700 Received: from katie by newraff.debian.org with local (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1BjY75-Eo-00; Sun, 11 Jul 2004 02:47:03 -0400 From: Mark Suter <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.51 $ Subject: Bug#249717: fixed in vrfy 990522-3 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Archive Administrator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Sun, 11 Jul 2004 02:47:03 -0400 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: Source: vr
