I'm glad to see this going forward. Meanwhile, I send the upstream author
a package for version 1.0.

Pascal, in the next version, could you send your package to the upstream
author? For now we are doing a double work.

Bug#285041: ITP: fprobe-ng -- Export captured traffic to remote NetFlow Collector

* Radu Spineanu:

 * Package name: fprobe-ng
   Version : 1.0.6
Upstream Author : Slava Astashonok [EMAIL PROTECTED]
 * URL : fprobe.sourceforge.ne
 * License : GPL
Description : Export captured traffic to remote NetFlow Collector

A well-maintained alternative to fprobe. This program is a
libpcap-based utility which collects network traffic and
emits it as NetFlow towards a specified collector.

This program uses a hash table to store the active flows. It is
vulnerable to a DoS attack, as described in Denial of Service via
Algorithmic Complexity Attacks by Scott A Crosby and Dan S Wallach:

  http://www.cs.rice.edu/~scrosby/hash/

It is possible to switch to a HMAC-style hash function that offers
some resistance against second preimage attacks, but I'd recommend to
switch to some balanced tree variant.

modifying the $/ built-in, but Perl6::Slurp gives us the ease of
use of the Perl 6 slurp() function.

Description: Perl implementation of Red/Black tree, a balanced tree.
This is a demonstration package, showing the performance differences
between different methods of data storage and accessing. It contains
a perl implementation of the Red/Black tree algorithm found in the
book Algorithms, by Cormen, Leiserson Rivest (more commonly known
as CLR or The White Book). A Red/Black tree is a binary tree
which remains balanced- that is, the longest length from root to a
node is at most one more than the shortest such length. It is fairly
efficient; no operation takes more than O(lg(n)) time.
 .
An example perl script is contained in the documentation directory,
which would show the different run times using hash table, linear or
 tree structure.

Bug#285234: ITP: unlzx -- unarchiver for *.lzx archives

unlzx is (surprise!) LZX archive unpacking utility released
under GNU license

LZX archiver was most popular on Amiga platform some time
ago and the archiver itself was formerly commercial and
then released free of charge (but still closed-source).

DMS is popular floppy disk image archiver. It reads floppy disk
content, cruch'em down and writes DMS file as output. DMS archive
is common way of distribution of amiga software whenever it needs
to be stored on floppy, but can't be packed using regular file
archives as LhA or LZx (it usually meeans demos and games).

2004-12-11 Thread Devin Carraway
A belated note on this ITP -- I'm delaying serious work on this package until
after the Sarge release. Originally in August the Sarge release looked
sufficiently close that there wouldn't be adequate time to deliver the package
with an acceptable level of quality in time. Since then the Sarge release has
maintained that general impression, without actually releasing. :)

Is it really distributed under all these licenses (and others)?
Rhetorical question. You just didn't care to specify one.
The problem is, apparently the upstream author didn't either.

Can you provide some proof for this licensing info?
It doesn't follow from the URL you provided.

Bug#258097: Are there inofficial packages?

2004-12-11 Thread Ralph Aichinger
Hello!

If the kernel patch is the main problem now, is the rest of the
packaging already done? Could you put up your packages somewhere?

Is dbus-sharp already packaged?
How about gmime and evolution-sharp?

Inofficial packages would surely be very appreciated by
people willing to compile their own kernels, but afraid to
mess up their dbus/mono/Gnome installations. Actually I think
the two library dependencies would be much more useful than
beagle itself.

TIA
/ralph -- who has nothing but problems compiling beagle 0.0.4, but
had no problems at all with the inotify patch.

Missing a few bits.

Description : KWirelessMonitor is a small KDE application that docks
into the system tray and monitors the wireless network interface

Short description is way too long and includes the name of the package (as
the first word, even).

KWirelessMonitor is a small KDE application that docks into the system
tray and monitors the wireless network interface
   .
The systray icon shows the signal quality and the bit rate using a
bar graph and a pie chart, respectively.
In the configuration dialog, you can change the bit rate and power
management settings of the wireless interface.
It is also able to automatically enable power management when using
battery power and/or automatically disable power
management during data transfer. By default, KWirelessMonitor
tries to automatically detect the wireless interface

You're missing a few full-stops there, too.

Bug#285267: RFA: libpam-heimdal

2004-12-11 Thread Brian May
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hello,

I longer use this package, not able to test it, nor am I interested in
maintaining it anymore.

There is one reported bug (#269457, with patch) and one wishlist item
(#234882).

It is likely that other bugs exist that haven't been reported.

The best solution (as suggested in bug #269457) might be to switch to
the FreeBSD source code or some other source code.

Once this is done, I expect this package to be a very low maintance
package.
