Bug#289043: ITP: perlprimer -- [Biology] Graphical design of primers for PCR
On Thu, Jan 06, 2005 at 11:03:08PM +0100, Steffen Moeller wrote: Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: perlprimer Version : 1.1.5 Upstream Author : Owen Marshall [EMAIL PROTECTED] * URL : http://perlprimer.sourceforge.net * License : GPL Description : [Biology] Graphical design of primers for PCR PerlPrimer is a free, open-source GUI application written in Perl that designs primers for standard PCR, bisulphite PCR, real-time PCR (QPCR) and sequencing. It aims to automate and simplify the process of primer design. Wouldn't the package be better named pcrprimer or something like this? The fact that it is written in perl seems not to be relevant to the user. The name perlprimer makes me rather think of a primer (tutorial) for perl. -Ralf. --

Bug#282283: RFH: dselect -- a user tool to manage Debian packages
To anyone interested enough to read this bug log (maybe nobody? we shall see): I have not forgotten about this bug, nor have I lost interest. On the other hand, neither have I yet found time to address it properly. As noted in the previous post, it is not my intent to block this bug by squatting on it. I have not yet earned ownership of this bug. If you have the knowledge, the interest and the time, you would enjoy my blessing and support (for what little these might be worth) if you stepped in front of me and started real dselect work. I merely do not want dselect to die of neglect. As for me, at the moment debram/debtags is commanding my available Debian time today. (There are regrettably only 24 hours in a day...) -- Thaddeus H. Bug#289168: ITP: xvidcap - Capture X-windows display to frames or video
Package: wnpp Version: N/A; reported 7-Jan-2005 Package name: xvidcap Version : 1.1.3 Upstream Author : original code by Gmelch thron AT gmx.de, extended by Karl H. Beckers karl.h.beckers AT gmx.net URL : http://xvidcap.sourceforge.net/ License : GPL Description : (see below) Package: xvidcap Architecture: any Depends: imagemgick, ${shlibs:Depends} Description: Capture X-windows display to frames or video Xvidcap is a screen capture application that can capture videos from an XFree86 desktop for illustration or documentation purposes. It is intended to be a standards-based alternative to propietary tools. . Xvidcap is still under development, and is not yet fully polished. Audio suport, for example, is still under experimental development. Nevertheless it is useful for teaching and training through video screen captures. You can use the animate program (ImageMagick) to view the recorded frames as an animation. . Xvidcap uses an on-line encoding facility using FFMPEG's libavcodec - libavformat. . Homepage: http://xvidcap.sourceforge.net/ I'm still testing the packages I've built, which seem to work fine with imagemagick (to produce animations) but I have not yet tested them with FFMPEG. Bug#250805: Outstanding ITP - phetail
retitle 250805 RFP: phetail -- realtime SQL-logger for amavisd-new thanks Don't use this anymore, needs some work but could be useful. * Justin Pryzby ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) wrote: This is a batch mailing regarding your stated ITP (Intent To Package) of the following Debian package; I apologize in advance if it is sent in error. phetail -- realtime SQL-logger for amavisd-new Do you still intend to create this package? If so, please keep the bugtracking system informed of progress and delays. ITPs which are just waiting for a sponsor should be tagged 'patch'; I recommend the bts script from the devscripts package. Bug#160706: RFP: buildd -- Debian package build daemon
Hi. I would certainly be interested in helping to package (and document) buildd. However I don't think I would be able to stem this by myself. So what I would actually like to do is: 1) Find a few others who are interested in this 2) Set up a mailinglist to coordinate the effort 3) Set up a repository for this effort, including buildd and any other software which is needed by buildd and not packaged yet 4) Start completing the documentation 5) package buildd So who would be interested in helping to package buildd? cu, sven

The fact that it is written in perl seems not to be relevant to the user. The name perlprimer makes me rather think of a primer (tutorial) for perl. Hmm, that was my first thought, too. Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the ntlmaps package. The package is working fine, I'm happy to keep maintaining it as upstream releases come in (a new person has recently taken over upstream development). The reason I'm putting it up for adoption is that I'm no longer stuck behind a Microsoft Poxy Server, so I no longer need to use ntlmaps myself. I won't be able to test new releases satisfactorily. The package description is: 'NTLM Authorization Proxy Server' (APS) is a proxy software that allows you to authenticate via an MS Proxy Server (e.g. ISA server) using the proprietary NTLM protocol. Since version 0.9.5 APS has an ability to behave as a standalone proxy server and authenticate http clients at web servers using NTLM method. It can change arbitrary values in your client's request header so that those requests will look like they were created by MS IE. It is written in Python v1.5.2 language. . Main features: * supports NTLM authentication via parent proxy server (Error 407 Proxy Authentication Required) * supports NTLM authentication at web servers (Error 401 Access Denied/Unauthorized) * supports translation of NTLM scheme to standard Basic authentication scheme * supports the HTTPS 'CONNECT' method for transparent tunnelling through parent proxy server * has ability to change arbitrary values in client's request headers; * supports unlimited number of client connections * supports connections from external hosts * supports HTTP 1.1 persistent connections * stores user's credentials in config file or requests password from a console during the start time -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.9 Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)
