Bug#335173: ITP: dspam -- Highly accurate and fast statistical spam filter

* Package name: dspam
  Version : x.y.z

  Description : Highly accurate and fast statistical spam filter

From the readme:

DSPAM filters spam by learning what spam is and isn't. It does this by learning
each user's individual mail behavior. This allows DSPAM to provide

Bug#335174: RFP: gyach-e -- feature-rich Yahoo! Messenger client with webcam support

  Description : enhanced Yahoo! Messenger client with webcam support

GYach Enhanced is an unoffical 'fork' of the original GYach. GYach
enhanced is an attempt to give Linux users many of the features you
would have/see running the Windows Yahoo client - hopefully, without
duplicating the bugs and clumsy interface of the Windows client and
without treating the user like they are a complete idiot.

Hi,

During the Debian QA meeting hold during Sept. 09th till 11th, we begun
to go through the list of the oldest packages in Debian that are not in
testing (http://bjorn.haxx.se/debian/oldest.html) to search for packages
that should be either orphaned or removed completly from Debian
(unstable and testing) since they have been obviously neglected by their
maintainer.

Your package did show up on this list and we propose to orphan it.

This usually means that your package matched some of the following
criteria:

 [1] Your packages has not had an upload for more than two years

 [2] has one or more RC bugs with no answer from the maintainer (**)

 [3] the state of your packages in general seems to indicate that you
 might be MIA

 [4] (if we propose a removal) it shows in popcon as having less than
 100 users with the package installed.

 [5] the package was not released with sarge

and at least ([1] and ( [2] or [3] or [4] or [5] )) was true.

(**) The maintainer not answering to RC bugs refers to bugs filed
more than one month before the time the check was performed.

After 7 days without answer from you (the maintainer) we will reassign
this bug to either WNPP (in case we propose to orphan it) or
ftp.debian.org (in case we propose to remove it).

The package will need an upload or an explanation for this action not to
proceed.

Please do *not* upload a package just to get off this list - it won't
help the package at all. Maintainers should be responsive and feel
responsible for their packages without needing other people to force
them to do work. Sometimes, finding a new maintainer or even removing
the package completly from the archive is better for Debian's users.

Thanks!

Marc

an all important role in the gameplay. You need to control your bike to
its limit, if you want to have a chance finishing the more difficult of
the challenges.

First you'll try just to complete the levels, while later you'll compete
with yourself and others, racing against the clock.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the xpenguins package.

The package description is:
 Ever wanted cute little penguins walking along the tops of your
 windows? Ever wanted to send an army of cute little penguins to invade
 the screen of someone else on your network? Probably not, but why not
 try this program out anyway, it's cool!

The program is kind of cool, so I'll keep it if no one else want to
take it. Upstream is dormant, but reachable. The main bug in the
package is that it can't handle desktop-environments very well: the
penguins destroy icons on the desktop. This could probably be fixed
by someone who knows about gnome/kde stuff. Furthermore, there are
some smaller bugs that are easily fixed.

This is a nice package for a prospective maintainer to take.

Bug#330953: I might be interested!

2005-10-22 Thread Torsten Schlabach
Hi!

I might be interested to adopt the rocks package.

The package will probably make more sense again in the future if people
switch to mobile networks such as UMTS end EGDE. Disconnects are much more
common there than on other Internet connections used these days. And those
disconnects can be quite annoying if they appear in the middle of an SSH or
remote control session if you need five minutes to get back to where you
were disconnected.

I also believe the package is just not know enough. Otherwise it would be
used by more people. I don't think it got obsoleted by anything newer that
serves the same purpose, did it?

What would I have to do to adopt the package?

Regards,
Torsten

  Description : class providing URI query string manipulation

 URI::Query provides simple URI query string manipulation, allowing you
 to create and manipulate URI query strings from GET and POST requests in
 web applications. This is primarily useful for creating links where you
 wish to preserve some subset of the parameters to the current request,
 and potentially add or replace others. Given a query string this is
 doable with regexes, of course, but making sure you get the anchoring
 and escaping right is tedious and error-prone - this module is simpler.

 Note: this modules is needed to build use new libcatalyst-perl upstream
 version

  Description : advanced URL grabbing package for python

Python package that drastically simplifies the fetching of files. It is
designed to be used in programs that need common (but not necessarily simple)
url-fetching features. It is extremely simple to drop into an existing program
and provides a clean interface to protocol-independant file-access. Best of
all, urlgrabber takes care of all those pesky file-fetching details, and lets
you focus on whatever it is that your program is written to do!

It came into existence as the part of yum that downloads rpms and header
files, but it quickly became clear that this is a general problem that many
applications must deal with.

Bug#335232: ITP: gnome2mtel -- Sends SMS to subscribers of Mtel, the Bulgarian GSM operator

2005-10-22 Thread Yavor Doganov
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: gnome2mtel
  Version : 0.2.1
  Upstream Author : Dimitur Kirov [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL or Web page : http://gnome2mtel.sourceforge.net
* License : GPL
  Description : Sends SMS to subscribers of Mtel, the Bulgarian GSM operator

A program to send SMS messages to subscribers of the Bulgarian GSM
operator Mtel. It has a simple address book, future versions might
include support for Evolution Data Server.

Note that the program heavily relies on Mtel's servers and since they
run proprietary operating system sometimes authentication fails.

For the time being I intend to keep the package in the
debian-addons-bg repository, as there are some bugs to be fixed
upstream and (possibly) several enhancements as well.

Bug#335236: ITP: python-pyxmpp -- XMPP and Jabber implementation for Python

2005-10-22 Thread Florian Ragwitz
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Florian Ragwitz [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: python-pyxmpp
  Version : 0.5
  Upstream Author : Jacek Konieczny [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://pyxmpp.jabberstudio.org/
* License : GPL
  Description : XMPP and Jabber implementation for Python

PyXMPP is a Python XMPP (RFC 3920,3921) and Jabber
(http://www.jabber.org/protocol/) implementation. It is based on libxml2 --
fast and fully-featured XML parser.

PyXMPP provides most core features of the XMPP protocol and several JSF-defined
extensions. PyXMPP provides building blocks for creating Jabber clients and
components. Developer uses them to setup XMPP streams, handle incoming events
and create outgoing stanzas (XMPP packets).

Features

* nearly complete XMPP Core (RFC 3920) protocol for client connections
(includes SASL, TLS and Strinprep)
* mostly complete XMPP IM (RFC 3921) protocol (lacks privacy lists)
* XMPP error objects including translations to and from legacy codes for
backward compatibility (JEP-0086).
* legacy authentication (digest and plain) (JEP-0078).
* component protocol (JEP-0114).
* Service Discovery (JEP-0030).
* vCards -- both Jabber vcard-temp and RFC 2426
* basic parts of the Multi-User Chat protocol (JEP-0045)
* delayed delivery timestamps (JEP-0091).

There is no need at all, to have more useless duplicated bug reports,
specially on wnpp. Only those duplicated bug reports with useful
information in it should remain open.

A patch for reportbug (checking the package names intended to be
reported against wnpp) would be worthwhile/helpful?

Thanks.

Side notes:
- this ITP closes the RFP bug #200984
- I've tried to contact the upstream author to deal with some problems and contribs, but haven't yet got an answer.
- I've made 2 packages: jahshaka (arch: any, deps: -data) and -data
(arch: all), saving about 30 Mb of archive space (counting all the 11).
- there is still some work to be done, but I'll release the packages as
soon as the upstream will have done the asked corrections (I hope for
2.0 RC2.
- Jahshaka is still beta, but it's really promising and having it packaged under Debian will allow more feedback upstream.

I will contact him as soon as I've read through all the (relevant)
documentation about package maintenance at www.debian.org.

In /usr/share/doc/toolchain-source there is an README giving an
overview of how the tools are supposed to work, there is also an
HOWTO, and there is man pages for each of the tools in the package.

In the gcc source package there is debian/README.cross, which
describes how to use the gcc source package to produce
cross-compilers.

As for debian package developement there is quite som info at
http://www.debian.org/devel/.

Please let me know if there is any other info you need, or if you want
some more specific refrences. Have you any experience with debian
package maintainance?

This is a good start. I'll need some time to assimilate all the
information though. I have no prior experience with debian package
maintenance. I know there's lots to set up to be a registered debian
maintainer and we'll have to work through the administrative stuff
as soon as possible. I can, however, begin working on gcc 4.0.2
and learning the proper procedures right now.

 From the website blurb:

 The worlds first OpenSource Realtime Editing and Effects System.
 Jahshaka takes advantage of the power of OpenGL and OpenML to give

 It doesn't actually use OpenML since that doesn't exist yet. I looked
 at this a year or more ago, I never got it to build. I just tried
 again, looks better, but I had some trouble. It uses Qt/KDE which is
 a turn-off for me in terms of maintainership. I'd be happy if someone
 manages to package this.

Bug#335260: ITP: dnspython -- DNS toolkit for Python

2005-10-22 Thread Florian Ragwitz
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Florian Ragwitz [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: dnspython
  Version : 1.3.4
  Upstream Author : Bob Halley [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://dnspython.org
* License :
  Description : DNS toolkit for Python

 dnspython is a DNS toolkit for Python. It supports almost all record
 types. It can be used for queries, zone transfers, and dynamic updates.
 It supports TSIG authenticated messages and EDNS0.

 dnspython provides both high and low level access to DNS. The high
 level classes perform queries for data of a given name, type, and
 class, and return an answer set. The low level classes allow direct
 manipulation of DNS zones, messages, names, and records.

Bug#328602: Offer of adoption for redir

Hi there--

i'm happy to take over maintenance for redir. i'm not a
debian-developer yet, but i've started the NM process. i've uploaded
a version of redir containing version 2.2.1 here:

  http://lair.fifthhorseman.net/~dkg/src/redir/

it fixes a couple of the outstanding bugs simply by virtue of
including the new upstream release, moves the package to priority:
extra, fixes a documentation bug in upstream's source, and is now
using full-on debhelper V4 for debian/rules.

It doesn't build with pbuilder:

[...]
Extracting source
dpkg-source: error: file redir_2.2.1-1.diff.gz has size 4885 instead of
expected 4865
pbuilder: Failed extracting the source
[...]

I'll send you the full log.

Please let me know if this looks reasonable, or if there are any
changes that i should incorporate to make it more acceptable.

Thanks for maintaining redir so far, Bernd.

php-ruli is a PHP interface for RULI, a library for easily
querying DNS SRV resource records (RFC 2782).

  RULI stands for Resolver User Layer Interface.
  It's a library built on top of an asynchronous
  DNS stub resolver. RULI provides an easy-to-use
  interface for querying DNS SRV resource records.

  IPv6 is supported.

Hello,

This is an automatic mail sent to close the RFP you have reported or
are involved with.

Your RFP wnpp bug is being closed because of the following reasons:
- It is, as of today, older than 365 days.
- It hasn't had any activity recently.

As this is an automatic procedure, it could of course have something
wrong and probably it would be closing some bugs that are not
intended by owners and submitters (like you) to be closed, for
example if the RFP is still of your interest, or there has been
some kind of activity around it. In that case, please reopen the
bug, do it, DO IT NOW! (I don't want to be blamed because of
mass closing and not let people know that they can easily reopen
their bugs ;-).

To re-open it, you simply have to mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
with a body text like this:

reopen 274471
thanks bts

Further comments on the work done in the bug sent to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] would be truly welcomed.
Anyway, if you have any kind of problems when dealing with
the BTS, feel free to contact me and I'd be more than happy to help
you on this: [EMAIL PROTECTED].

A similar process is being applied to other kind of wnpp bugs.

Thanks for your cooperation,
