* Package name: yeahconsole
  Version : 0.3.4

Bug#334489: Update

2006-04-15 Thread Damyan Ivanov
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

This is a quick update of current situation about packaging flamerobin.

All in all, the licensing issues seem to clear. Flamerobin moves to
Expat license as of its upcoming 0.7.0 release. It is already converted
in svn.

IBPP moves to an IBPP license, which is a slightly modified Expat. See
www.ibpp.org.

I am waiting for the Expat-licensed release of Flamerobin (due this
month hopefully) in order to seek sponsorship.

Thanks for watching :)

I think there is no fixed rule, and usually the best thing to do is coordinate
with upstream. However, I (the previous maintainer) never successfully
communicated with upstream. Maybe you will have better luck, or you will
just have to make your own judgement call.

Description : Alien vs. Human first person shooter

Tremulous is a very nice FPS, based on the free'd Quake III Code. I
think it is one of the better examples of high quality free software,
and therof should be included in Debian.

The Data files are CC-SA-Attr licenced, so this would have to go to
non-free.

I hope someone picks this up.

Then why not just upload it as the new version of 'scribus' in unstable? Why
do we need a whole new package?

Bug#325709: debian-legal?

2006-04-15 Thread Adriaan Peeters

Hi,

We have some nice people over at debian-legal. Perhaps you could ask
them for advice regarding the GPL/LGPL issue?
I also noticed the "PLUGINS ARE NOT CONSIDERED TO BE DERIVED WORK!!!"
string in almost every source file. Perhaps ask for advice on this as
well.

It would be nice to have xmms2 in the archive since I am preparing a
package that will (when available) depend on it.

Hi,
I plan to package the 0.10 version of pitfdll. Currently
there is no final 0.10 release yet but according to upstream
CVS is in a releasable state, only the actual release is missing.

I'll first package CVS snapshot or when a release happens before
the final 0.10 version.

Bye

Description : the Portable Coroutine Library (PCL) implements the low
level functionality for coroutines

Coroutines are a very simple cooperative multitasking environment where
the switch from one task to another is done explicitly by a function
call. Coroutines are a lot faster than processes or threads switch,
since there is no OS kernel involvement for the operation. Also
coroutines require much less OS resources than processes of threads.

For a more complete definition of the term coroutine see The Art of
Computer Programming by Donald E. Knuth.

Hello,

I have prepared a new package using cdbs. However, i saw that there is
already a debian/ directory into the upstream source, so i have removed
it. I don't know if it was a good idea to do that ?

The package is available at the following URL (i am waiting for a advice
about the previous question about debian/ directory before sending it to
the SVN repository) :

Bug#362584: ITP: xindy -- a flexible indexing system

Thanks for packaging this, it looks really interesting.

Some comments:

  * debian/control: misses a Homepage, see the devref 6.2.4
  * debian/control: when I think of "a flexible indexing system", I
think of things like beagle/kat/google desktop that look through
all your files and facilitate quick searches. Please improve the
short description. Something like "document index generator",
but more descriptive
  * debian/changelog: no need to mention those changes from
upstream
  * debian/copyright: misses the years for which the copyright
applies.
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2006/03/msg00023.html
  * debian/copyright: you need to put copyright info for everything
in the orig.tar.gz (including clisp), and also for your debian
packaging (need to licence that too). Use mc and grep to do so.
  * the package FTBFS[1] in pbuilder due to lack of a clisp binary,
please add it to the build dependencies and re-test in pbuilder.
also, look into dpkg-genbuilddeps
  * would be nice to have a watch file.

GStreamer and Gtk+

>From the homepage:

Thoggen is designed to be easy and straight-forward to use. It attempts
to hide the complexity many other transcoding tools expose and tries to
offer sensible defaults that work okay for most people most of the
 time.

 Supported formats:

Ogg/Theora: - Theora video with Vorbis audio in an Ogg container (in
case you have not heard of Theora before: it is basically what Vorbis
is for audio - a patent-free, royalty-free codec that can be
implemented by anone and is supported by recent versions of all major
media players on all major platforms).

AVI/divx/mpeg4: - More formats, like MPEG4/divx/xvid in AVI etc., will
be added once the core functionality has been finished and works
 reliably.

Thank you,
  Lennart
