Bug#330601: Sponsoring of libiec61883

2006-09-17 Thread Loïc Minier
Hi Marcio,

I see you prepared packages for libiec61883 to address #330601. I've
read an objection concerning the name of the library package which you
seem to have addressed already. I'm one of the GStreamer maintainers,
and we are currently waiting for libiec61883 to upload a new upstream
release of gst-plugins-good which requires this library.

If you didn't find a sponsor yet, please let me know, and I'll review
and sponsor your package. If you need help, please let me know as
 well.

speed up their execution. eAccelerator typically reduces server load and
increases the speed of your PHP code by 1-10 times.

Hi,

libhttpfetcher's last (and only) maintainer upload[0] was in January
2002. It's been orphaned for a year and a half, has no reverse
dependencies and very few popcon votes[1]. Last QA upload[2] was over a
year ago and upstream has had no activity at all since July 2001[2],
when they released a bug-fix release for the initial release.

Basically, I tried to package this more than a year ago and was
basically not able to finish. So, unless the legal issues have been
resolved, this package will likely not be possible. The root of the
problem is that the GPL is not compatible with the PHP license. There
is no way around it, other than a clean rewrite of eacclerator by people

hmm, right. the thing is, the code has been rewriten for the most part
of it, so they are not tied with the turck-mmcache copyright holders
anymore (afaict). so maybe it's possible to discuss it with upstream.

so basically, what has to be done? they must just explain that they
allow anyone to build their GPL software against php, is that it ?

Bug#387987: ITP: allacrost -- single player, 2D sprite-based role playing game

2006-09-17 Thread Jordà Polo
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jordà Polo [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name : allacrost
  Version : 0.1.0
Upstream Author : Tyler Olsen [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.allacrost.org/
* License : GPL
Description : single player, 2D sprite-based role playing game

Hero of Allacrost resembles the gameplay of console RPGs developed in
the 1990s. The game is released in numerous modules or pieces that you
can play until it is completed (analogous to episodes or chapters).

It is still at an early stage of development. There aren't public releases
yet, only internal betatests. A tech demo to show what it is capable of
is expected very soon.

I do not work on HPC anymore and have therefore lost interest in
the package. It does not require much time as upstream changes
are rare. The package is bugfree. Compiling it takes some time
to build (5.5h for the sparc build daemon, significantly less on
my machine) and upload (11 binary packages) but this does not
happen very often.

It would make sense to adopt this package together with
scalapack-doc (containing the man pages for ScaLAPACK),
blacs-pvm and blacs-mpi (low level libraries needed for
ScaLAPACK).

I'll take this. I'm not sure how quickly I can get it packaged though.
If you want pre-release packages let me know, but they will come with
the usual caveats.

Also the web page says that it is not ready for use. I'm not sure how
far away it is, but I might keep it out of etch in that case.

I wish this module were in Debian, so I could use gpg keys for https.

That would be cool. I can't see any mention of this in a quick reading
of the webpage though. Is this just due to gnutls's support of OpenPGP
keys?

As always co-maintainers are welcome.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Description: Lists critical bugs before each apt installation
apt-listbugs is a tool which retrieves bug reports from the Debian
Bug Tracking System and lists them. Especially, it is intended to
be invoked before each upgrade/installation by apt in order to check
 whether the upgrade/installation is safe.
 .
Many developers and users prefer the unstable version
of Debian for its new features and packages. apt, the
usual upgrade tool, can break your system by
 installing a buggy package.
 .
apt-listbugs lists critical bug reports from the Debian
Bug Tracking System. Run it before apt to see if
an upgrade or installation is known to be unsafe.
