Bug#419746: ITP: zfs-fuse -- A FUSE wrapper for the ZFS filesystem in Linux

Why not package this as libtool and upload to experimental ?

Mike

Look at the libtool's website:

Stable Release: 1.5.22
Development Release of Stable Branch: 1.5.23b
Daily CVS Snapshot of Stable Branch: 1.5.23c
Development Release: 1.9f
Daily CVS Snapshot: 2.1a

Tell me, which version should go to experimental branch? I think the
daily CVS snapshot should be packaged as separate package.

The lack of the latest libtool is very frustating.

Bug#392333: ITP: irrtoolset -- IRRToolSet is a suite of policy analysis tools to operate with routing policies in RPSL [RFC 2622] format, registered in Internet Routing Registry(IRR).

2007-05-06 Thread Jan Wagner
Hi,

just for the records ... preliminary packages are available at
http://ftp.cyconet.org/debian/archive/official/irrtoolset/4.8.5-1/

Actual I'm working with Daniel Baumann[¹] on copyright issues. There are more
than 10 licenses und ~20 authors. This all is shuffled all over the files.
Nearly 50% of the codebase is not used, cause the graphical tools are broken
since years, but upstream will not remove the code about various reasons.
This makes life working on copyright much more complicated.

With kind regards, Jan.

Thankfully this is already fixed in the upcoming 1.6 release, which is

Also, this problem should not affect the building of Debian packages,
since g++ is build-essential.

For these reasons, I object to this ITP.

Bug#422498: RFH: gentoo -- a fully GUI-configurable, two-pane X file manager

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Hi everyone,

I'd like to (eventually) give away the Debian package of the gentoo file
manager to someone who uses it. I found that I stopped doing that :/

The packaging is mostly clean, as it's a fairly straightforward software
package these days.

(People who just want to maintain things without ever having used them need
not apply. People who saw the package name in the New Maintainers' Guide
and now think it'd be a cool thing if they had it, also need not apply.)

The libtool from CVS snapshot closes many bugs marked with fixed-upstream
 tag
for libtool package. Unfortunately, there is no Debian package, yet.

The bleeding-edge libtool is required, if you want to release an application
for an evironment without C++ compiler. See Bug#221873.

I would like to provide the package for libtool and libtoolize script only,
without libltdl library. The package conflicts with standard libtool
 package.

You know there already is an (old) version of this in experimental? I
don't really feel the need to maintain a version of this is in
experimental. But feel free to add yourself to Uploaders and update the
version in experimental.

Afaik, #221873 it should be fixed in experimental. Maybe it should get
tagged as such.

2007-05-06 Thread John Pye
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

ASCEND is a modelling language and user interface for solving
heirarchical systems of nonlinear equations. It's been used for
modelling chemical processes, chemical reactions, pipe flow problems,
as well a been more generally useful as a quick way to solve 'what if'
questions that are too hard for standard spreadsheet solvers to handle.

ASCEND is licensed under the GNU GPL.

The website is http://ascend.cheme.cmu.edu/

I have been able to produce a basic .deb package for ASCEND that works
on Ubuntu; I'm hoping to improve the packaging here and get it up to
scratch for ultimate inclusion in Debian. Doing the packaging right
will be hard; there are shared libraries and Python and Tcl/Tk
dependencies. Help will be most appreciated.

Cheers

Bug#406335: Preliminary package upload

2007-05-06 Thread Paul TBBle Hampson
I've put preliminary 1.15.0.2 packages up at http://www.tbble.net/debian
as well as openjpeg and xmlrpc-epi pacakges that should be the same as
the ones I've uploaded to httpp://mentors.debian.net/ for sponsorship.

All binaries are PowerPC, but the source is all there so you can rebuild
yourself. (slviewer-artwork doesn't need rebuilding, it's arch: all)

However, they don't currently work. Two directories appear to have been
left out of the 1.15.0.2 release compared to the 1.15.0.0 beta, and I'm
getting a new error that I didn't see with 1.14.0.1, about overrunning
the packet during an ObjectUpdate message.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else sees the latter problem with
either these or their own built 1.15.0.2 client.

To resolve the former, grab lindean/indra/newview/res-sdl and character
and put or link to them in /usr/share/secondlife/

Also, the slviewer-artwork packages are under the CC-BY-SA 2.5 license,
so are not suitable for inclusion in the Debian archive, and since
slviewer depends upon the artwork's presence, it's only suitable for
uploading to contrib right now.

I've got open issues regarding both the packaging problems, but haven't
had a chance to chase them yet (since I think the best way to work out
the licensing thing is to catch Linden's open-source licensing person
in-world, and I can't get in-world at the moment. -_-)

Anyway, enjoy. They ideally should work on any platform you want to
throw at them, but I've only tested PowerPC so far, and upstream
only supports i386 and AMD64 for Linux builds.

CPUShare is a research project created by Andrea Arcangeli with the
goal of connecting together the computers of the Internet in order to
create a general purpose Low Cost and World Wide Supercomputer
available to everybody to use in a matter of minutes, controlled by a
market for the CPU resources that chooses the price of the CPU
resources using the supply and demand law in real time.

CPUShare allows the home users to profit from the significant power of
their hardware that otherwise would be wasted every day.

CPUShare is the first technology that can recycle CPU cycles over the
Internet without requiring donations (in terms of electric energy and
aging of the CPU) from the home users.

Bug#411403: Do you still need a sponsor for noscript?

 Hi,
yes, I'm still looking for a sponsor.
I have uploaded a new version on mentors today.
 thank for your interest

I looked at your GPG key. However, it does not appear to be signed by a
Debian developer. Are you able to get your key signed? By your email
it looks like you are in France. There are quite a few keysigning
offers there: https://nm.debian.org/gpg_offer.php

Bug#422571: RFP: chronicle -- Valgrind-based complete, indexed recording of process execution

2007-05-06 Thread Joey Hess
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: chronicle
  Version :
  Upstream Author : rocallahan
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/chronicle-recorder/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
Description : Valgrind-based complete, indexed recording of process
execution

Chronicle records every memory and register write in the execution of a Linux
process, using Valgrind to instrument execution at the machine code and system
call level. These events are indexed and compressed; from the resulting
database the Chronicle query tool can efficiently reconstruct the state of
memory and/or registers at any point during the execution. Additional queries
such as when was the last write to location X before time T and when was
location X executed between times T1 and T2 are also supported. This
infrastructure has a variety of possible uses, but the most obvious use is as
the basis for powerful debuggers.

Blog post introducing the idea and giving some more background:
http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/roc/archives/2006/12/introducing_amb.html

The main issue in packaging this is that it does include a whole patched
version of valgrind, which is not ideal from a distribution's POV. Perhaps
this will eventually change and regular valgrind will support --tool=chronicle.

The main issue in using it is that programs apparently run at something like
1/300th normal speed. The UI is also fairly rough ATM.

Bug#388136: ITA: gift-openft -- giFT plugin for the OpenFT network

Hi Manuel,

How is progress with this ITA ? Have you noticed that your package at
mentors is outdated because the used version number is already used in
Debian?

Is the same 'cause theres no new version of this software, i'll ask
anibal to sponsor this packages, and he said that will be better
upload gift first and then gift-openft and gift-gnutella, if you
disagree, i'll thank you if you upload those packages.

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Bart Martens

I meant to say that 0.2.1.6-1 is already used in Debian so your package
at Mentors should be 0.2.1.6-2.
