Nah, I don't think so anyway. Feel free to work together with Francesco
or just let him maintain the package by himself. I'm OK with any
situation.

I hope mine doesn't die soon, I really love her :(

I'm sorry for the stupidly long delay, I was busy :)

So, I've uploaded your package. If you want, it's OK for me that you
maintain the package. If you can't, I can make the uploads.

Allright, it is ok for me too. Francesco it is your call about package
maintainership, as I said I would go for collab-maint but other options are ok
too.

Bug#435001: RFP: me-tv - A digital television viewer for GNOME

2007-07-28 Thread Michael Lamothe
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

I've built a digital television viewer for GNOME that I'd like to see
included in Debian. I've made it available in launchpad at
https://launchpad.net/me-tv and provided debs and the source for it as
downloadable project files. It's written in C/C++ using Anjuta and
I've used dh_make/dpkg-buildpackage to build the debs. I've also
provided screen-shots at http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Me_TV.

There are no known bugs in the application and only one low priority UI issue.

I wish to release me-tv under the GPL. I really hope that you accept
it into Debian and give me an opportunity to give something back to
the community. Thanks in advance.

Bug#435002: ITP: randim -- Random Image Generation using Iterated Function Systems

2007-07-28 Thread Gürkan Sengün

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: randim
   Version : 0.5
Upstream Author: Adrian Robert <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://interstitiality.net/ifs_f.html
* License : GNU GPL
Description : Random Image Generation using Iterated Function
Systems

This is an interactive fractal image generation program based on the
theory of iterated function systems as developed by M. F. Barnsley
(1988).
One well-known and remarkable image generated by this method is a
detailed
picture of a fern leaf (see, e.g., Gleick, 1987). It is remarkable
because
despite the amazing degree of detail present in the image -- enough to
render
it practically indistinguishable from a silhouette of the actual
natural shape
-- it is specified by just 4 sets of 6 numbers, each specified by one
or two
digits only. Roughly 80 bits of information to specify a complex
natural
shape! Perhaps even more amazing is the way in which these numbers
are used

to generate the image.

For the impatient:
http://gnu.ethz.ch/debian/randim/ (not quite finished, but working)

There's already a similiar program in Debian called evolvotron if
you're interested

in this sort of image generation...

thanks

[ CC to Bernhard R. Link added as he has submitted many patches;
Bernhard, are you perhaps interested in taking over yourself? ]

Meh!

For reasons unrelated to xli I'm not going to pick up maintainership of
this package. However, I put some quite preliminary packaging at

http://people.debian.org/~florian/xli/xli_1.17.0+20061110-1.dsc>
for anyone to use and extend.

The changelog currently reads as follows:
+xli (1.17.0+20061110-1) UNRELEASED; urgency=low
+
+ * New upstream snapshot, released on 20061110, which incoporates many
+of the patches already previously applied
+ * New maintainer (Closes: #431760)
++ quilt'ify package
+ * debian/control: add link to Homepage
+ * MIME entries now point to /usr/bin/xli (Closes: #366066, #387347, thanks
+Matthias Urlichs and Glyn Kennington), also adding -quiet (Closes:
+#433191, thanks to Bernhard R. Link)
+ * List all copyright holders and licenses (Closes: #433212, thanks to
+Bernhard R. Link)
+ * Standards-Version 3.7.2
+ * New patches applied to upstream from Debian BTS:
+* Fix FTBFS on GNU/kFreeBSD (Closes: #396935, thanks to Petr Salinger and
+ Cyril Brulebois)
+* -fillscreen now carries over to >1 image (Closes: #48878, #389198, thanks
+ to Bernhard R. Link)
+* -onroot with multiple images doesn't SEGV anymore (Closes: #289147,
thanks
+ to Bernhard R. Link)
+* Don't complain about "None" pixmap color (Closes: #220965, thanks to
+ Bernhard R. Link)
+* Enable arrow keys (Closes: #179268, thanks to Bernhard R. Link)

The wireless-dev tree's p54 driver is the one I am going to package; I
should have made that clearer in the ITP.

The p54 driver certainly seems stable enough for regular use based on my
own testing of it.

I think that creating this package is worthwhile if it helps _anyone_ get
their wireless hardware working under Linux, and if it lets upstream get
_any_ useful feedback or bug reports.

PS, please CC me in your responses as I read debian-devel though Gmane
and may miss out on your messages. :)

Bug#405011: license declaration issues

2007-07-28 Thread Trent W. Buck
The ledger source archive includes a LICENSE file, but individual
source code files do not refer to it -- they have no copyright /
licensing header whatsoever. The debian legal people feel that there
should be such a header.

This is where matters stood at the 2.6 release. Just now I looked at
the Subversion trunk, and it appears to have appropriate headers.
Thus when 3.0 (or perhaps 2.6.1) is released, it should be possible to
include it in Debian.

Apologies for not updating this bug sooner.

Description : Simple implementation of nested groups

Set::NestedGroups gives an implementation of nested groups,
access control lists (ACLs) would be one example of
 nested groups.

For example, if Joe is a Manager, and Managers have access to payroll,
you can create an ACL which implements these rules, then ask the ACL
if Joe has access to payroll.

Another example, you may wish to track which city, state and country
people are in, by adding people to cities, cities to states, and states
 to countries.

This module includes some facilities to integrate its data structures
with either files in the local filesystem and with tables in a RDBMS.

Package: libmail-spf-query-perl
Version: 1.991-1
Severity: wishlist

When used with Postfix this package needs a policy server. The
Postfix policy daemon at
 seems to work well and
is adequately documented, IMHO. However, it would be nice to have the
policy daemon included in this package, or a separate Debian package,
to insure compatibility between the version of the policy daemon and
this package. It would also be nice to have the location and name of
the daemon "Debianized" and reflected in the Postfix configuration
files /etc/postfix/main.cf and /etc/postfix/master.cf, or at least
mentioned in a "README.Debian". FWIW, spf-query needs no init script
when used with Postfix.

I started porting gnome-app-install (the Add/Remove Programs tool)
from Ubuntu to Debian but the work has been going slowly. If anyone
would like to take over the job and take over maintainership that's
fine. You can find my work so far in this apt repo:

deb http://www.jspiro.com/files/debian experimental/
deb-src http://www.jspiro.com/files/debian experimental/

Or download my work from
http://www.jspiro.com/files/debian/experimental/ manually.

It'd be appreciated if you emailed me telling me you were starting
work on this package so that if I had done more work we could sync.

Regards,
Jason Spiro

If you don't intend to maintain it further, could you please send me the

And what's the point of telling the Fedora Project what kind of
hardware that Debian users have? (And maybe how much more popular
Debian is than Fedora?)

I request an adopter for the cowsay package.

Status:
- no new upstream release for years
- stable/testing/unstable have latest upstream
- newest beta in experimental
- some minor/wishlist bugs
- missing attributions? Needs to be discussed with upstream.
- popcon reports 839 installations
- easy packaging

The package description is:
Cowsay (or cowthink) will turn text into happy ASCII cows, with
speech (or thought) ballons. If you don't like cows, ASCII art is
available to replace it with some other creatures (Tux, the BSD
daemon, dragons, and a plethora of animals, from a turkey to
 an elephant in a snake).

This is Acme::Cow version 0.1 aka cowsay 4.

What is the added value for Debian users of sending these informations
