I don't feel very attached to my non-comaintained packages and would
gladly give them away to a good home. So I request an adopter for the
ipv6calc package.

The package description is:
 The ipv6calc utility can convert between different formats of IPv4 or IPv6
 addresses. It can also show information about the addresses, including who
 they are assigned to on the Internet.

2008-08-14 Thread Tobias Richter
I think there is still interest in a NeXus package. Updated information:

* Package name: libnexus
  Version : 4.1.0
  Upstream Author : Freddie Akeroyd <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.nexusformat.org/
* License : LGPL
  Programming Lang: C, C++, Fortran90
  Description : library supporting the NeXus scientific data file format

 NeXus is a common data format for neutron, x-ray, and muon science. It
 is being developed as an international standard by scientists and
 programmers representing major scientific facilities in Europe, Asia,
 Australia, and North America in order to facilitate greater cooperation
 in the analysis and visualization of neutron, x-ray, and muon data.

Bug#488396: RFA: wallpaper-tray

2008-08-14 Thread Guido Loupias

Hey Jon,

I think this could be a nice package for a beginner like me.
I've only skimmed through the new maintainer guide but I've already
packaged for Ubuntu in the past.

Anyhow, I plan on adopting this package. I just need a bit more time on
the whole joining Debian process. :)

Regards,
Guido

Jon Dowland schreef:

Hi folks, I picked up wallpaper-tray to fix an RC bug in
the Etch freeze. I've since stopped using it, and upstream
have re-written it in C++. I think therefore if the package
is still desired, it would make sense for someone else to
package it.

You don't need to join Debian. Just create a new package and ask on the
Debian mentors list (http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors) for a
sponsor, who will take a look at your package and upload it to the
Debian archive for you. (You are still responsible for the package, get
bug reports, etc. The sponsor will just act as your "proxy" to our
archive.)

Yours sincerely,

Bug#495026: package almost ready

2008-08-14 Thread The Anarcat
I have prepared a package that I uploaded to mentors.debian.net. It
hasn't yet appeared on the web interface for some reason. Also, I have
made it a native debian package by mistake (I'm packaging from a VCS
checkout so it's easier for me to just commit my debian/ directory
directly upstream since I wrote the program.)

I'm looking for help for the next steps.

Bug#483627: RM: xsupplicant -- better alternative exists/no upstream support

2008-08-14 Thread Eric Evans

retitle 483627 RM: xsupplicant -- better alternative exists/no upstream support
reassign 483627 ftp.debian.org
thanks

At one time there were a number of obscure EAP methods in use that were
only supported by xsupplicant, and instances of buggy authenticators
for which xsupplicant was capable of working around. These days there
are no circumstances that I am aware of where wpasupplicant is not the
better choice.

Upstream for xsupplicant has undergone a complete rewrite with a strong
focus on Windows (the 2.x versions of xsupplicant will not even compile
on Linux). The older 1.x versions are effectively unmaintained (the last
release was on 2006-10-08).

Popcon suggests that usage is quite low with only 281 installations and
46 votes.

I believe it would be in the best interest of our users if xsupplicant
were removed from the archive entirely.

Regards,

Werner (Co-maint) Agrees to have this RFA too.

The package description is:
This is a client-server backup system offering several workstations a
centralized backup to a special backup server. Backing up only one
computer is easily possible, too. Any streaming device can be used
for writing the data to it, usually this will be a tape
device. Writing backups is normally done sequentially: The
next
writing to tape goes to the end of the previous write no
matter where
you have restored from in the meantime

Bug#495026: packaging progress

2008-08-14 Thread The Anarcat
I have made some progress on the packaging.

 1. the package is now non-native. i have made a seperate branch in
 Mercurial for the package
 2. i have renamed the package to pychessclock because I found an
 already existing clock from 2006:
 http://gnomecoder.wordpress.com/chessclock/
 i have since introduced the missing features in my package
 3. micah anderson has agreed to sponsor an upload. he will do so when
 he finds the time.

Micah, when you want to upload this package, you should do something
like this:

hg clone http://hg.koumbit.net/pychessclock
cd pychessclock
hg update -r v1.2-1

Thanks,

Bug#495172: ITP: pysoy -- high-level 3D game engine for Python

2008-08-14 Thread Miriam Ruiz
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Miriam Ruiz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: pysoy
  Version : 1.0~beta2
  Upstream Author : Arc Riley <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> and others
* URL : http://www.pysoy.org/
* License : GPL 3 or above
  Programming Lang: C, Python
  Description : high-level 3D game engine for Python

PySoy is a 3D game engine written as a Python module. It has tightly
integrated physics support (motion, collision detection, joints, etc), a
threaded render cycle for high FPS, an intuitive API, and many other
features. The project was born as a fork from fork of Soya3D and is
targeted primarily at rapid development of games.

With the most computation-heavy parts of OpenGL and Physics processing
in C, PySoy remains efficient while offering a high level object-oriented
Python API. An optimized background thread takes care of the low-level
processing leaving the main Python code free to focus on higher level
processing.

The goal is to target the video hardware available to everyday computer
users focusing on CPU-side game features and keeping 3D graphics
requirements to a minimum, thus working without problem on graphic cards
like AMD/ATI Radeon 9000, Intel i915 or nVidia geForce2.
