Bug#514327: RFP: openfoam -- OpenFOAM-1.5 debian package

2009-02-09 Thread Gerber van der Graaf
In case you did not see the message I also sent to
514...@bugs.debian.org and you might be interested. We hope to issue
next week.

There is a 'fork' of OpenFoam: FreeFoam
(http://sourceforge.net/projects/freefoam/), done by Michael Wild and
me. The changes are in the building (using CMake), installation using
LSB: (/usr/lib/FreeFoam/*, /usr/bin/* , /etc/FreeFoam), and usage (no
ENVIRONMENTAL settings needed. It seems to work fine, but we are still
testing it. I already have had a look at Paraview and cdbs technology
(which is new to me) how I might be able to deb FreeFoam.
The files have not yet been uploaded to sf.net or at the
repo.or.cz git repository.

Michael asked me to wait with publishing the software (he holds the sf
account) It has been 1 month I had the last contact with Michael and he
did not respond last week. I will try again and eventually issue
FreeFoam on the git repository.

p910nd is a small printer daemon intended for diskless workstations
that does not spool to disk but passes the job directly to the printer.

p910nd is particularly useful for diskless Linux workstations such as
those set up with LTSP and embedded devices that have a printer hanging off
them.

I have packaged (using GIT):
  http://tcosproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/p910nd.git/

Debian package (unstable):
  dget http://www.tcosproject.org/pool/main/p/p910nd/p910nd_0.93-1.dsc

Package is lintian clean.

I need a sponsor to upload it.

I'm packaging some software used by my thin client framework (TCOS [1]),
I will upload TCOS packages when all depends are done.

frei0r is a minimalistic plugin API for video sources and filters. The
behavior of the effects can be controlled from the host by simple

adaptation issue of standard effects. It is not meant as a generic API
for all kinds of video applications.

Bug#497701: ITP: libv8 -- Google V8 JavaScript Engine

2009-02-09 Thread Antonio Radici

The package seemed simple but actually there are two issues:
1) the package is using scons without any install target, that
means that it should be patched so an install target will be
added; this is trivial

2) the shared library which is built from the package (libv8.so)
is not shipping *any* soname, and scons does not support
sonames natively; upstream knows about this, see:
http://code.google.com/p/v8/issues/detail?id=151

The Debian Library Packaging Guide advices to inform upstream
about the soname missing and let him add the soname, rather than
introducing a binary compatibility only for debian.

I'm poking upstream, if he does not reply probably it's better
not to package libv8, waiting for the soname; anyway if someone
else has any other idea please feel free to change the ownership
of this ITP.

Cheers
Antonio

I'm currently also looking into dispcalGUI, which might also be handy.

Bug#514679: ITP: liblwp-online-perl -- module to check if there is Internet access

2009-02-09 Thread Antonio Radici
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Antonio Radici

* Package name: liblwp-online-perl
  Version : 1.07
  Upstream Author : Adam Kennedy
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/LWP-Online/
* License : Artistic | GPL-1+
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : module to check if there is Internet access

 LWP::Online will try to verify, as accurately as it can, if the
 host has any Internet access: it will check if there is basic
 network access, DNS connectivity and it will also check whether
 one from a whole set of transport (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and so on) is
 actually available
 .
 The exported 'online' function can also be used by other modules to
 skip the tests which require Internet connectivity.

Well, there has been no activity recorded on the ITA since August 2k8.
Many packages have been uploaded to NEW and are already in sid despite
the freeze, some others have instead been uploaded to experimental to
not to disrupt the version in sid.

Yes, the bug was retitled to RFP by Aurelien who I expect will explain
why he did that; and since RFP's don't have "owners" and since there
was no much activity on the bug report I agreed with my script's
resolution to remove the owner.

If you still intend to adopt it then please demonstrate some activity,
or even better: adopt it and close this WNPP bug :).

2009-02-09 Thread Sundaram Ramaswamy

Subject: ITP: artha -- A handy off-line thesaurus based on WordNet
Package: wnpp
Owner: Sundaram Ramaswamy
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: artha
  Version : 0.8.0
  Upstream Author : Sundaram Ramaswamy
* URL : http://artha.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : A handy off-line thesaurus based on WordNet

Artha is a handy English thesaurus having distinct features like
look up on a global hot key press, passive notifications of a
selected text's definitions, suggestions for misspelled words, etc.
Once launched, it sits on the system tray monitoring for a pre-set
hot key combination. When some text is selected on any window and
the hotkey is pressed, it pops-up with the word looked-up. Should
the user prefer passive notifications over the app. popping-up,
this can be done by enabling the notifications option.

Artha is written from scratch in pure C using GTK+, with WordNet
as it database corpus. It may be used as an advanced replacement
for the proprietary WordWeb in GNU/Linux environments.

Please keep me informed if there is any need for help to package
artha - as the WordNet maintainer I'm somehow interested.

Kind regards
  Andreas.
