The smokeping package bundles this, but I never packaged it separately
because there didn't seem to be any demand. See #298729.

If/when this enters the archive, I'd appreciate a bug against smokeping
to add a dependency on the new package.

I really missed that previous ITP from you, maybe because it was
closed. If it is ok for you, I still ITP.

 If/when this enters the archive, I'd appreciate a bug against smokeping

This was a point I wanted to ask you as maintainer of smokeping, but
now you were faster than me :-).

As DD, are you also sponsoring packages? I'm only a DM at the moment,
so I need a sponsor for my packages. I already filled a RFS on
debian-mentors.

Bug#409849: Still working on it

2009-05-29 Thread Michael Hanke
Just a quick note that this effort has not really been stopped -- it
just takes forever.

I currently have a pretty much functional package, but the copyright
screening is yet to come (although I already removed quite a bit of the
code, due to licensing issues) -- given the amount of code, this will
again take a while

Help would be very much appreciated!

Bug#531028: ITP: hg-git -- git plugin for Mercurial

2009-05-29 Thread Jakub Wilk

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jakub Wilk uba...@users.sf.net

* Package name: hg-git
  Version : (not released yet)
  Upstream Author : Scott Chacon scha...@gmail.com
* URL : http://hg-git.github.com/
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Git plugin for Mercurial

Th Hg-Git plugin for Mercurial adds the ability to push and pull to/from
a Git server repository. This means you can collaborate on Git based
projects from Mercurial, or use a Git server as a collaboration point
for a team with developers using both Git and Mercurial.

The plugin can convert commits/changesets losslessly from one system to
another, so you can push via a Mercurial repository and another
Mercurial client can pull it and their changeset node ids will be
identical - Mercurial data does not get lost in translation.

2009-05-29 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Hi!

* Iulian Udrea iul...@ubuntu.com [2009-02-10 20:46:57 CET]:
 I was wondering if you still want to adopt this package.

 I was wondering the same about both Robert and you. :)

 If you are not interested in mmv anymore I'd be more than happy
 to adopt it.

 Still interested, or did your interest move away?

 I have already prepared an upload which closes a couple of bugs and
 fixes some packaging errors.

 As I don't see any reference to this anywhere or any different version
of it in ubuntu (given that you have an ubuntu mail address) I guess you
never did publish it anywhere?

 So, if both of you are not interested anymore and Iulian's prepared
package is nowhere to find I am willing to do the work (again) and take
over the package, to finalize the issue.

 Thanks. :)

Hi,

   Great. My packages are very old, haven't tried the newest version yet,
   but you're welcome to them. Hmm, they're living on a machine which is
   not currently on the net... Will get everything to you ASAP.

  Also, old blacs/scalapack stuff is at:
  http://lyre.mit.edu/~powell/mumps/ but I never completed mumps. And
  this just adds openmpi to blacs and scalapack; I haven't done the
  mpi-defaults version yet.

 Just an update: the new blacs-mpi and scalapack are now in unstable,
 clearing the way for me to work on mumps. I don't have too much more to
 do on that, should be able to finish by the end of next week.

Hello again,

I just uploaded MUMPS, which you can see at the above URL. Feel free to
go ahead with work on astk/aster. If you don't package them, I'll get
to them eventually.

Bug#531067: O: john -- active password cracking tool

2009-05-29 Thread David Paleino
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'm hereby orphaning john.

It should be team maintained, but I'm really the only one working on it. I've
done a big effort on looking for copyright issues on it [0] [1] [2], and on
patches [3] I was going to apply on the newest release, but now I feel I can't
keep up anymore with its maintainance.

Solar Designer, the upstream developer, is really collaborative: anyone with a
minimum of C knowledge, and some time, could easily maintain it. It has quite
some bugs I didn't have the time/the will/the ability to fix, so please also
look at them before going ITA.

Here's the package description:

 john, mostly known as John the Ripper, is a tool designed to help systems
 administrators to find weak (easy to guess or crack through brute force)
 passwords, and even automatically mail users warning them about it, if it
 is desired.
 .
 It can also be used with different cyphertext formats, including Unix's
 DES and MD5, Kerberos AFS passwords, Windows' LM hashes, BSDI's extended DES,
 and OpenBSD's Blowfish.

I've done some work in git -- there's a new upstream version 1.7.3-1 ready to
go in, but I'm orphaning *before* getting it in. Please take a look at the
repository [4] too.

There's a pkg-john project on Alioth [5]: I will handover administrative rights
to whoever adopts john.

Kindly,
David

 repoze.tm2 depends on transaction, which is a python module which will be
 packaged very soon by the Debian/Ubuntu Zope team as the result of the
 splitting of the old monolithic zope3 package.

Indeed, I was just going to ITP it :-), but I'll refrain then. Please
do so, so that we can keep track of the work. In the meantime, I'll
package tm2, assuming transaction will be called
python-transaction. Please let me know when you have draft packages,
so that I can better test all the stack up to TG2.

 More details about this splitting and how it will affect reverse
 dependencies will be send out in an announcement to debian-python,
 but the general rule is that we are trying to keep the naming of the
 python module as linked as possible with their setuptools name.

 For example, zope.interface will have a source file called
 zope.interface and a binary package called python-zope.interface. I
 would suggest to apply the same rules to these packages, calling the
 binary python-repoze.tm2.

OK, I'll do the renaming both in the source and in the binary package.
Thanks for the heads up.

Cheers.

Bug#531077: ITP: anytun -- secure anycast tunneling protocol

2009-05-29 Thread Michael Prokop
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Michael Prokop m...@debian.org

* Package name: anytun
  Version : 0.3
  Upstream Author : Othmar Gsenger, Erwin Nindl, Christian Pointner
* URL : http://www.anytun.org/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : secure anycast tunneling protocol

 Anytun is an implementation of the secure anycast tunneling protocol. It
 uses an easy openvpn style interface and makes it possible to build
 redundant VPN clusters with load balancing between servers. VPN servers
 share a single IP address. Adding and removing VPN Servers is done by the
 routing protocol, so no client changes have to be made when additional VPN
 servers are added or removed. It is possible to realise global load
 balancing based on shortest BGP routes by simply announcing the address
 space of the tunnel servers at multiple locations.
 .
 Currently ethernet, ipv4 and ipv6 tunnels are supported by the
 implementation. However the protocol allows to tunnel every ETHERTYPE
 protocol.

-mika-

  Vcs-Browser:
http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/python-modules/packages/python-repoze.tm2/trunk/

and the package has been uploaded to experimental (but must need to go
through NEW).

*However* the package depends on python-transaction, which is being
packaged by the Zope team. Before that package is available, you'll
need to easy_install python-transaction to be able to install
repoze.tm2.

Bug#531079: ITP: ecm -- prepares CD image files so they compress better

2009-05-29 Thread Loïc Martin

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Loïc Martin loic.mart...@gmail.com

* Package name: ecm
  Version : 1.00
  Upstream Author : Neill Corlett ne...@neillcorlet.com
* URL : http://www.neillcorlett.com/ecm/
* License : GPL2+
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : prepares CD image files so they compress better

   The ECM format allows you to reduce the size of a typical CD image
   file (BIN, CDI, NRG, CCD, or any other format that uses raw sectors).
   It works by eliminating the Error Correction/Detection Codes
   (ECC/EDC) from each sector whenever possible. The encoder
   automatically adjusts to different sector types and automatically
   skips any headers it encounters.
   Since the data skipped is nearly impossible to compress with
   traditionnal tools, the resulting ECM file will compress far better
   than the raw CD image

Bug#531082: ITP: uanytun -- tiny implementation of the secure anycast tunneling protocol

2009-05-29 Thread Michael Prokop
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Michael Prokop m...@debian.org

* Package name: uanytun
  Version : 0.3
  Upstream Author : Christian Pointner equi...@anytun.org
* URL : http://www.anytun.org/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : tiny implementation of the secure anycast tunneling protocol

 uAnytun is a tiny implementation of SATP (Secure Anycast Tunneling
 Protocol). Unlike Anytun which is a full featured implementation
 uAnytun has no support for multiple connections or synchronisation.
 It is a small single threaded implementation intended to act as a
 client on small platforms. SATP defines a protocol used for
 communication between any combination of unicast and anycast tunnel
 endpoints. It has less protocol overhead than IPSec in Tunnel mode
 and allows tunneling of every ETHER TYPE protocol (e.g. ethernet,
 ip, arp ...). SATP directly includes cryptography and message
 authentication based on the methodes used by SRTP (Secure Real-time
 Transport Protocol). It is intended to deliver a generic,
 scaleable and secure solution for tunneling and relaying of packets
 of any protocol.

   repoze.who is an identification and authentication framework for
   arbitrary Python WSGI applications; it acts as WSGI middleware.
   .
   repoze.who is inspired by Zope 2's Pluggable Authentication Service
   (PAS), but is not dependent on Zope in any way; it is useful for
   any WSGI application.
   .
   It provides no facility for authorization (ensuring whether a user
   can or cannot perform the operation implied by the request). This
   is considered to be the domain of the WSGI application.

[ mini-boilerplate follows, for the sake of context in the bug log ]

I'm packaging this as a dependency for python-turbogears2 (TG2 for
short), which is in unstable but lacks several of its dependencies,
and hence is currently useless.

Several libraries are missing to have a working TG2, this ITP is just
one of those needed. I'm *looking for help* in maintaining the related
packages, under the umbrella of the Python Modules team. Packaging
will happen in the related SVN repository.

Bug#488753: Status?

2009-05-29 Thread David Moreno
Hello,

In repeated ocassions people have been asking what's going on with
Passenger on Debian regarding this bug.

Some of us are a bit impatient and frustrated that this cannot be
finished by the packagers who take care of this at the beginning. Given
the situation, I was able to include the changes Mr. Micah already sent
to this bug and clarified most of the issues on debian/copyright, so
there isn't really any other issues stopping Passenger to go into Debian
and the NEW queue.

So, if the maintainers are not doing anything to finish this job in the
weekend, I will incorporate Micah's and my own changes into WIP on
pkg-ruby-extras and take care of the package and upload it on June 1st.

Thanks,

David Moreno
