Pacman 3.3.0 is now out depending on libfetch and libdownload >= 2.7.0.
The dependency on libfetch can be removed by passing
--disable-internal-download to the configure script.

Bug#544151: ITP: config-manager - manage directories with Arch, CVS, HTTP, FTP and/or Subversion

2009-08-29 Thread Robert Collins
package: wnpp
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org
X-Debbugs-CC: wildf...@progsoc.org

This is really an adoption, but its an adoption of a removed package. It
was removed because it was 'abandoned upstream', but such is not the
case. It simply has [largely] met its goals and as such just gets used.

I prefer not to package stuff I'm upstream for as a QA precaution - I'm
less likely to catch things than a second person looking at what I've
done, but as Anand had the packaged removed rather than [say] orphaning
it I'm assuming he's not interested in maintaining it further.

-Rob

Package: config-manager
Architecture: any
Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ${python:Depends}, bzr (>=
0.6)
Description: manage directories with Arch, CVS, HTTP, FTP and/or
Subversion
config-manager is designed to manage directory trees. The components of
a directory may be specified by a location from any of:
 .
  - CVS
  - FTP
  - HTTP
  - Subversion (svn)
  - Bazaar-NG (bzr)
 .
These directory trees are described by recipes (also known as
configs) and are typically used to build software although nothing
within config-manager prevents their use in, for example, web sites.

Primarily for Exim. Also because I already maintain a couple of DKIM-related

Bug#513305: Status of unscd, and nscd in Debian

2009-08-29 Thread Marc Dequènes (Duck)

Coin,

Quoting Don Armstrong :

Sure, there's a preliminary package here:

http://svn.donarmstrong.com/deb_pkgs/unscd/trunk/

Besides from a bug in the PREFIX (s/nscd/unscd/), to avoid having a
nearly empty package, it is building well. It installs well and is
working like a charm. Only the nscd init script had to be borrowed,
without any change. The package could just Provides nscd.

I didn't dig deep into the details, and didn't know it could use the
same configuration file. Directives not handled are just ignored with
a warning message (which could by in syslog btw), which is quite fine,
but 'services' map is not supported, which is a regression.

the main reason I haven't yet uploaded it is because I'm unhappy with
the way that it replaces nscd but I'm using it in production right
now.

Besides the small regression, i don't see what makes you unhappy.

Do you need comaint ?

Heyho!

Sibnce the packaging team on alioth (pkg-postgrey) was formed, there has
been no further action. I still hope they will pick up the pieces soon-ish
and address the too large (for such a small package) number of open bugs.

In the mean time, I hereby declare postgrey orphaned. If somebody who is

Bug#449031: Chandler

2009-08-29 Thread Micah Anderson

Hello,

A friend of mine recently was telling me about Chandler, and my natural
instinct was to see if it was in Debian, and it wasn't so I was less
interested in trying it out myself. However, I thought I would see if
there was an ITP, and lo! there is. However, it hasn't seen any movement
since June, so this message is a friendly *poke* to see where things are
at.

I certainly understand people are quite busy, so please don't take this
the wrong way, I'm just curious about the status of this project.

  Programming Lang: Java
  Description :

Maven is a software project management and comprehension tool. Based on the
concept of a project object model (POM), Maven can manage a project's
build,
reporting and documentation from a central piece of information.
 .
Maven's primary goal is to allow a developer to comprehend the complete
state of a development effort in the shortest period of time. In order to
attain this goal there are several areas of concern that Maven attempts
 to deal with:
 .
* Making the build process easy
* Providing a uniform build system
* Providing quality project information
* Providing guidelines for best practices development
* Allowing transparent migration to new features
 .
The Maven EJB plugin generates a J2EE Enterprise JavaBean (EJB) file as
well
 as the associated client JAR.

* Providing quality project information
* Providing guidelines for best practices development
* Allowing transparent migration to new features
 .
The Maven EAR plugin generates a J2EE Enterprise Archive (EAR) file.

tag 518059 +pending
thanks

Hi,
I've completed the package, included your patch and fixed other things; I've
finally managed to write a proper init script.

I've just uploaded the package to mentors so it can be reviewed by a DD (I
asked Filippo Giunchedi) and then it will be uploaded to NEW.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/cfengine3
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
  contrib non-free
- dget
  http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/c/cfengine3/cfengine3_3.0.2.dsc

The package was built from this git tip (collab-maint/cfengine3): eba45d2947e97

Cheers
Antonio

* The tools, support, and membership are free.
* There are no restrictions. Neither copyright nor copyleft
  restrictions apply.
* No contribution of effort or technology is required

Because of "there are no restrictions..." it looks like the library is in
the public domain (or at least DFSG-free).

I need this library for brlcad (ITP: #289632). brlcad source includes
the library, but i think it is better to package it separately.

Upstream makefile produces only static library. I'll try to make package
with shared library if possible.

Description : Determine and mark up significant differences between LaTeX
files

latexdiff is a Perl script, which compares two LaTeX files and marks up
significant differences between them (i.e. a diff for LaTeX files). Various
options are available for visual markup using standard LaTeX packages such as
'color.sty'. Changes not directly affecting visible text, for example in
formatting commands, are still marked in the LaTeX source.
 .
A rudimentary revision facilility is provided by another Perl script,
'latexrevise', which accepts or rejects all changes. Manual editing of the
difference file can be used to override this default behaviour and accept or
 reject selected changes only.

Bug#488753: passenger_2.2.4debian-1_i386.changes REJECTED

2009-08-29 Thread Micah Anderson

Hi Torsten,

Thanks for looking over Passenger, and thanks for noticing some missing
copyright/license information! Sorry that those were not included.

* Torsten Werner  [2009-08-18 15:54-0400]:
> Hi Maintainer,
>
>
> rejecting because the copyright file is missing license and copyright
> information for most of the vendor packages. For example:
>
> ext/nginx/* (eg. Manlio Perillo)
> ext/common/* (eg. René Nyffenegger)
> test/stub/rails_apps/mycook/public/javascripts/*.js (eg. Fuchs)
> ext/apache2/Hooks.cpp (eg. scgi & CNRI license)

I've just finished going through all the files and updated the copyright
document with all the missing pieces (everything you noted above was
added, plus several more).

I've uploaded a new version with these fixes just now.

Description: processing sequence alignments in SAM and BAM formats
Samtools is a set of utilities that manipulate nucleotide sequence alignments
in the BAM format. It imports from and exports to the SAM (Sequence
Alignment/Map) format, does sorting, merging and indexing, and allows to
retrieve reads in any regions swiftly. It is designed to work on a stream, and
is able to open a BAM (not SAM) file on a remote FTP server.

Package: libbam-dev
Architecture: any
Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}
Description: manipulates nucleotide sequence alignments in BAM or SAM format
The BAM library provides I/O and various operations on manipulating nucleotide
sequence alignments in the BAM (Binary Alignment/Mapping) or SAM (Sequence
Alignment/Map) format. It now supports importing from or exporting to TAM,
sorting, merging, generating pileup, and quickly retrieval of reads overlapped
 with a specified region.

I request an adopter for the smartmontools package.

The package description is:
The smartmontools package contains two utility programs (smartctl and smartd)
to control and monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and
Reporting Technology System (S.M.A.R.T.) built into most modern ATA and SCSI
hard disks. It is derived from the smartsuite package, and includes support
for ATA/ATAPI-5 disks. It should run on any modern Linux system.

  Upstream Author : Andrew Collette
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/h5py/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C, Python
  Description : h5py is a general-purpose Python interface to hdf5

HDF5 for Python (h5py) is a general-purpose Python interface to the
Hierarchical Data Format library, version 5. HDF5 is a versatile, mature
scientific software library designed for the fast, flexible storage of
enormous amounts of data.

>From a Python programmer's perspective, HDF5 provides a robust way to
store data, organized by name in a tree-like fashion. You can create
datasets (arrays on disk) hundreds of gigabytes in size, and perform
random-access I/O on desired sections. Datasets are organized in a
filesystem-like hierarchy using containers called "groups", and accessed
using the tradional POSIX /path/to/resource syntax.
A generic NumPy interface to HDF5 data

H5py provides a simple, robust read/write interface to HDF5 data from
Python. Existing Python and Numpy concepts are used for the interface;
for example, datasets on disk are represented by a proxy class that
supports slicing, and has dtype and shape attributes. HDF5 groups are
presented using a dictionary metaphor, indexed by name.

This is very badly worded. Although the upstream authors apparently
intend to give permission to distribute, this is not explicitly given by
the text you have quoted. The FTP team will want to see an explicit
licence. Furthermore, this licence should probably be included in the
distributed tarball, not in the web site, which can always be changed in
future.

Ben.

Dear Igor and Dmitry,

In the hope of speeding up and strenghtening the processing of NEW I had a look
at your package. The rationale is explained in the proposal in the following
wiki page: http://wiki.debian.org/CopyrightReview

I found that the copryights for the translations were not mentionned. All .po
files are Copyright (c) 2007 Rosetta Contributors and Canonical Ltd 2007 except
fr.po and ca.po. I do not know however if this omission is enough for your
upload to be rejected. Nevertheless if you chose to re-upload a corrected
version it will not affect the order at wich your package will be processed in
the NEW queue.

Have a nice weekend,

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see
