Bug#245995: PACKET_MMAP not in libpcap?

2010-04-08 Thread Catalin Patulea
It seems PACKET_MMAP was added to the main libpcap distribution in January 2008:
http://github.com/mcr/libpcap/commit/92c5d33d7a89c624e90b55f95bb7fbc49ec06c5f

Are you sure the Debian package doesn't already support mmap? (I have
no evidence that it does; in fact, I'm a bit unsure how to check
whether tcpdump is using mmap or not)

Plack is a set of tools similar to Ruby's Rack or Python's Paste for WSGI. It

allows developers to decouple their web application framework from the local
web server environment.

This package contains middleware components, a reference server and utilities
for web application frameworks.

 Regards,

The issue is that as I am not a DD, I can't upload and need a sponsor,
and I have other packages to be sponsored first, so that one will stay
for a long time in my need a sponsor queue, which is why I don't think
it's reasonable that I adopt the package right away, knowing that it
could wait months before getting an update.

As any other non-DDs. You can mail debian-ment...@lists.debian.org
when in need for sponsorship. And wait months is an absurd
over-exaggeration.

Consider adopting a package only if you're a DD completely misses the
point of showing commitment to the project that's as fundamental
step of NM path.

If you stand as willing to sponsor, I can download, audit, and prepare a
new package right away for adoption.

See above: debian-mentors is the way to go.

Awesome - I think you're right the main ones are bundled libraries.

Description: Perl IDE backend with Emacs frontend
PerlySense is a Perl IDE backend that integrates with editor frontends,
currently Emacs. (While no one has written a Vim frontend, PerlySense can emit
Vim style data structures.)

Conveniently navigate and browse the code and documentation of your project
and Perl installation. Navigate between tests and source, and between related
files.

Search through the project for method declarations, invocants or free text
using Ack.

Run tests and scripts with easy navigation to errors/warnings/failing tests.

Automate common editing tasks related to source code, tests, regular
expressions, etc.

Highlight syntax errors, warnings, Perl::Critic complaints, and Devel::Cover
test coverage in the source while editing.

PerlySense has a plugin system for understanding custom syntax, e.g. Moose.

 Hi Damien,

Hi Pablo,

 Any progress with UIMAJ?

Yes, I've made nice progress in previous week !
If you want to help, you can get debian/ from pkg-java SVN repository (svn
[1] or http [2]).
Then, you can use debian/rules get-orig-source to build orig.tar.gz.

Let me know if you need help. I work with upstream.

I've worked a bit with Fabien Poulard [3] to understand internals of
UIMA-J.
But it's great if you are skilled with UIMA and/or have real uses cases
for Debian package.

My current roadmap is in debian/TODO [4]
Main items, before releasing :
- Chose how we deploy XML components descriptors / PEAR components
  * PEAR components inside /usr/share/uima/components/ ?
+ allow /usr/local/share/uima/components/ and
$HOME/.uima/components/ as alternative install dirs
for components
  * Install essentials descriptors (Regexp*.xml) inside uima-examples
others inside uima-docs as samples
- Update manpages
- Do final full source code review for copyright / licence

If you want to help, update debian/TODO and add your name before item
you'd takeover.

Would you be willing to sponsor uploads for now?

I can give you the links to my RFSs in the list archive if you don't

Consider adopting a package only if you're a DD completely misses the
point of showing commitment to the project that's as fundamental
 step of NM path.

I am fully committed to Debian, which is why I'm I am trying to push for
the fastest way possible to have the package adopted and uploaded in
main. I don't want to add mess to my QA page before my other packages
are uploaded (about 2 dozen of them), which I believe is understandable.
Adopting the package without being sure of the result in therms of QA is
not what I believe is the way to go.

Now, I say it again, if anyone stands and promise to sponsor any
eventual update that I do to this package, I'm adopting. Isn't this fair
enough?

See above: debian-mentors is the way to go.

Thanks, I know -mentors, the IRC channel and all. The thing is, despite
sending RFS twice and asking on the channel multiple times, I didn't get
anyone to sponsor yet.

Description : OneSwarm is a peer-to-peer tool that provides users with
explicit control over their privacy by letting them determine how data is
shared.

OneSwarm is a peer-to-peer tool that provides users with explicit control over
their privacy by letting
them determine how data is shared. Instead of sharing data indiscriminately,
data shared with OneSwarm
can be made public, it can be shared with friends, shared with some friends but
not others, and so forth.
We call this friend-to-friend (F2F) data sharing

Privacy preserving:
OneSwarm uses source address rewriting to protect user privacy. Instead of
always transmitting data directly
from sender to receiver (immediately identifying both), OneSwarm may forward
data through multiple intermedaries,
obscuring the identity of both sender and receiver.

User friendly:
OneSwarm?s interface is web-based and supports real-time transcoding of many
audio and video formats for
in-browser playback, eliminating the need for casual users to master a new
applications interface or search
for custom media codecs.

Open:
OneSwarm is freely available and built on existing standards. OneSwarm can
operate as a fully backwards
compatible BitTorrent client, and its friend-to-friend data sharing features
are built on cryptographic
standards, e.g., X.509 certificates and SSL encryption.

Description: soccer (football) manager game featuring the most important
European leagues
Bygfoot allows you to manage a team by training the players, buying and
selling them, contracting loans, maintaining the stadium, etc. You can be
promoted or relegated, even become a champion. It includes a team editor
which you can use to create your own teams or edit the existing ones. The
game is deliberately kept simple (though not easy): you only have to keep one
eye at your players and another at your stadium.
