Description: PAM module for local authenticaction with bluetooth devices
pam_blue is a dynamically loadable binary object for the PAM security
framework in Linux. It is presented as an extension for the common PAM
modules, gives the user the ability for authenticate via a
Bluetooth-compatible device like a cell phone or other bluetooth
dongles (e.g. epox-presenter). Due to the fact that a whole part of
the Bluetooth stack is implemented in hardware-side it is relatively
difficult to change the Bluetooth hardware MAC address which makes
 this module more secure.

Description: Nested Build System of Debian Source Package
Debnest provides a build system to create debian binary packages
such that original upstream sources include debian source packages,
i.e. .dsc and other files such as .orig.tar.gz and diff.gz, or .tar.gz.
In build-time, this system unpacks debian source packages by
 'dpkg-source -x' and propagates policy-defined targets of debian/rules
 into the unpacked sources.
 .
 This allows you to:
  * Manage your own files under debian/ such as debian/rules
debian/control, debian/changelog and so on separately away from
their original packages.
  * Create your own tuned packages with your own pre-defined
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS, CC in your debian/rules from their
original packages without specifying any environment
variables in each build-time.
  * Create your own tuned packages with patches to their
original sources as well as to debian/* files, separating
them completely away from their original source packages.
  * Make it possible to redistribute your modified debian package
based on another debian source package which restricts
source-code from being distributed in modified form _only_ by
the distribution of patch files with the source code for the
purpose of modifying the program at build time.

Bug#577660: Debian package for Parse::Dia::SQL

That's great, thanks.

In return I would love if you could fix the bug I reported
 yesterday. ;-)

I will do my best.

Are you still interested in packaging the module yourself? If yes I
think you need at least an unstable chroot (pbuilder or cowbuilder helps
with this). All new Debian packages have to be developed for unstable
 and are uploaded there first.

Well, I do not yet have a complete picture of the package process so I
could sure use some help. For me it is irrelevant who does the actual
packaging as long as the jobs gets done. Please advise.

Best regards,
Andreas

Bug#457075: Salomé packaging

2010-05-05 Thread Andre Espaze
Hi Adam,

Sorry for the delay, I have missed the -6 release but I have
just built the -7 one which works fine. I have updated the
documentation on:
http://wiki.debian.org/BuildingSalome
It seems that building Med dependencies by hand is no longer needed
because libmed-2.3.6-2 is now available in Debian sid. I only had one
problem during the installation step with the 'salome.desktop' file
which did not exist but it may be an error on my side. I will see
if I can reproduce it in the next build.

First, the -dev dependency extends beyond libsalome-dev. For example,
the GEOM module requires libTKOpenGl.so which is in
libopencascade-visualization-dev so salome must depend on at least that
package as well. There are likely others. Can some of you help me to
figure out what is required? If we miss a couple before upload, that's
probably okay, we'll just get even more bug reports for these than we
 otherwise would. :-)
I can help on that part once the VISU module is working, I have just
added a ticket on the Logilab's project:
http://www.python-science.org/ticket/1841

Later we can hopefully modify Salomé's shared lib loading code so it
detects the soname at build time and loads that file at runtime, as this
 is a bug.  If anyone can figure out an easy way to do that now, great;
otherwise we need to add a few -dev packages to the dependencies.
I have added a ticket too:
http://www.python-science.org/ticket/1822
but to my point of view such change should be difficult.

Second, I've cut the number of lintian warnings by dozens by making
the .py files non-executable. The one problem that results is during
startup, which can be solved by the following patch:

 diff --git a/KERNEL_SRC_5.1.3/bin/runSalome.py
 b/KERNEL_SRC_5.1.3/bin/runSalome.py

My python is even worse than my French, so that's the best I can do, but
I'm certain there's a better way. Can someone help my pathetic python,
hopefully in a way that will be acceptable to upstream?
I think that SALOME_ContainerPy.py should be considered as an executable
script because its first line starts with:

#! /usr/bin/env python

As a consequence, it should live inside /usr/bin like others commands
so no patch is required. The only reproach to upstream may be to keep
the '.py' extension which is confusing because SALOME_ContainerPy is
supposed to be a command. I have moved SALOME_ContainerPy.py to /usr/bin
and made it executable and Salome was still working. I think that it
should be possible to add this behavior to the Debian package during
the installation step. What is your opinion on this point? Would you
like me to work on a patch?

All the best,

André

Upstream plan to maintain this package in Debian, but need to rewrite
how the documentation is handled (from LaTeX to RST) to be able to
generate the HTML documentation without non-free dependencies first.
In the mean time, we have agreed that I will upload a package without
the HTML documentation and co-maintain it with upstream.

I am working on the upload now.

Happy hacking,

 Hey Dominic,

Thanks for speaking up. I'd also like to adopt KinoSearch under the

maintaining it, so I won't press you further if you'd like to keep it.
I just think it'd be nicer to keep all of the KinoSearch versions in
the same place, as it makes coordinating things easier.

[Only Cc'd the Debian Perl List this time, as I guess debian-devel doesn't
 care]

Sure, go ahead. I should have included that explicitly in my previous
mail I guess :)

Cheers,

  Programming Lang: C++
Description : A Utility that analyzes systems of lenses.

Copied from the web, probably needs a little editing:

OpticalRayTracer is a free (GPL) Linux (Xwindows GUI-based) utility that
analyzes systems of lenses. It uses optical principles and a virtual optical
bench to predict the behavior of many kinds of ordinary and exotic lens types.
OpticalRayTracer includes an advanced, easy-to-use interface that allows the
user to rearrange the optical configuration by simply dragging lenses around
using the mouse.

OpticalRayTracer fully analyzes lens optical properties,
incuding refraction and dispersion. The dispersion display uses color-coded
light beams, as shown above, to simplify interpretation of the results.

I don't really know when I get around to finish packaging it; with the

Owner: Julian Andres Klode j...@debian.org

* Package name: dh-autoreconf
  Version : 1
Upstream Author : Julian Andres Klode j...@debian.org
* License : GPL-2
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : debhelper add-on to call autoreconf and clean up after the
build

Package: dh-autoreconf
Architecture: all
Depends: ${misc:Depends}, autoconf, automake | automaken, libtool
Description: debhelper add-on to call autoreconf and clean up after the build
dh-autoreconf provides a debhelper sequence addon named 'autoreconf' and two
 commands, dh_autoreconf and dh_autoreconf_clean.
 .
The dh_autoreconf command creates a list of the files and their checksums,
calls autoreconf and then creates a second list for the new files.
 .
The dh_autoreconf_clean command compares these two lists and removes all
files which have been added or changed (files may be excluded if needed).

I am using this inside the gnome-main-menu package and it works perfectly,
although a bit slow because it creates md5sums of the whole source tree
two times (I may add an option to use timestamp+size instead for larger
source packages).

(Please note that I'm not subscribed to debian-devel, so please keep the
bug report or me in To/CC)

Description : Java MVC framework focused in View and Controller layers

The Web Flow module is a MVC extension that allows you to
define Controllers using a domain-specific-language. This
language is designed to model user interactions that require
several requests into the server to complete, or may be
invoked from different contexts. Provides:
 - A domain-specific-language for defining reusable
   controller modules called flows.
 - An advanced controller engine for managing conversational
   state.
 - First-class support for using Ajax to construct rich user
   interfaces.
 - First-class support for using JavaServerFaces with Spring.

* Package name: gmock
  Version : 1.4.0
Upstream Author : Zhanyong Wan w...@google.com
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/googlemock
* License : Google (SEE BELOW)
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : Google's framework for writing and using C++ mock classes

Google's framework for writing and using C++ mock classes on Linux,
Mac OS X, and Windows. Inspired by jMock, EasyMock, and Hamcrest, and
designed with C++'s specifics in mind, it can help you derive better
designs of your system and write better tests.

Google Mock:

- provides a declarative syntax for defining mocks,
- can easily define partial (hybrid) mocks, which are a cross of real
  and mock objects,
- handles functions of arbitrary types and overloaded functions,
- comes with a rich set of matchers for validating function arguments,
- uses an intuitive syntax for controlling the behavior of a mock,
- does automatic verification of expectations (no record-and-replay
  needed),
- allows arbitrary (partial) ordering constraints on
  function calls to be expressed,
- lets a user extend it by defining new matchers and actions.
- does not use exceptions, and
- is easy to learn and use.

  Version : 2.1.0.4
Upstream Author : Digium Inc., Xorcom Inc.
* URL : http://asterisk.org/
* License : Non-free, distributable.
* Description : DAHDI non-free firmware
DAHDI (formly Zaptel) is an interface for telephony devices used by e.g.
the Asterisk PBX software. The dahdi-* packages provide the kernel
DAHDI kernel modules and their required setup environment.
 .
This package includes the non-free firmwares from the DAHDI tarball
as well as downloading script for the Digium firmwares that are normally
 downloaded on 'make install'.

This package uses the same sources as dahdi-linux (and has same version
number, minus the .dfsg). Debian packaging is also maintained by the
pkg-voip team.

Description : prepares CD image files so they compress better

The ECM format allows you to reduce the size of a typical CD image
file (BIN, CDI, NRG, CCD, or any other format that uses raw sectors).
It works by eliminating the Error Correction/Detection Codes
(ECC/EDC) from each sector whenever possible. The encoder
automatically adjusts to different sector types and automatically
   skips any headers it encounters.
Since the data skipped is nearly impossible to compress with
traditionnal tools, the resulting ECM file will compress far better
   than the raw CD image

Bug#445205: adopting package sysprof

2010-05-05 Thread Ritesh Raj Sarraf

owner 445205 r...@debian.org
thanks

Hello,

No one seems to have adopted this package. There have been uploads but no
maintainer for it. Since my work involves
some amount of performance and profiling work, I am adding my intent to adopt
it.

I will be putting it under collab-maint and set up a git repository there. And
I plan to upload the devel release to experimental.
Paul: If you are still interested, please let me know. We can co-maintain it
together.

Regards,
Ritesh

I just wanted to add a note to this bug to say that I am still
interested in adopting systemtap, but am currently a bit short on free
 time.

If someone else wants it, that's fine too (that's why I'm not retitling
to ITA). But please don't consider this package up for removal for now.

I was interested in SystemTap but given that there is no immediate hope of the
kernel dbg packages in Debian,
I wonder if systemtap will be of any use.

but I could not find it there. Could you please give me the address where
mathgl is comitted? I woul like to try to build it.

Thanks

 Hi,

I have updated the debian science repo. The package now builds (although
the png dependencies are not quite handled correctly, and cause multiple
 calls to mathgl_example.).

At any rate, the package builds so as far as I am concerned my work is
done. Can someone else touch up the package and take maintenance of it?

 Notes:
 * texinfo is throwing utf8 errors if I try to build the _ru documentation.
I have disabled this for now. * Upstream have committed changes to their
repositories to solve the ldflags problem (see bug #92). * I have not
 made the package lintian clean.

 Thanks.

Bug#457075: Salomé packaging

2010-05-05 Thread Adam C Powell IV
Hi André,

On Wed, 2010-05-05 at 09:40 +0200, Andre Espaze wrote:
 Hi Adam,

Sorry for the delay, I have missed the -6 release but I have
just built the -7 one which works fine.

No problem. -6 had a dumb mistake which caused it to be rejected by
Debian right away, so you didn't miss anything.

 I have updated the
 documentation on:
 http://wiki.debian.org/BuildingSalome
It seems that building Med dependencies by hand is no longer needed
because libmed-2.3.6-2 is now available in Debian sid.

Right, the Debian-GIS team finally updated HDF5, so I was able to upload
the new and working MED package.

 I only had one
problem during the installation step with the 'salome.desktop' file
which did not exist but it may be an error on my side. I will see
if I can reproduce it in the next build.

That file should be in the debian directory. debian/rules copies it
into debian/tmp, then it's in salome.files so it should get into the
salome package (dpkg -c tells which files are in a .deb).

Later we can hopefully modify Salomé's shared lib loading code so it
detects the soname at build time and loads that file at runtime, as this
  is a bug.  If anyone can figure out an easy way to do that now, great;
otherwise we need to add a few -dev packages to the dependencies.
I have added a ticket too:
 http://www.python-science.org/ticket/1822
but to my point of view such change should be difficult.

I agree, the problem seems to also be in OpenCASCADE (bug 550445), so it
may be that Salomé uses OCC's loading mechanism. Yeah, this one will
take a bit of time to track down.

Second, I've cut the number of lintian warnings by dozens by making
the .py files non-executable. The one problem that results is during
startup, which can be solved by the following patch:

  diff --git a/KERNEL_SRC_5.1.3/bin/runSalome.py
  b/KERNEL_SRC_5.1.3/bin/runSalome.py
  index d67d6b0..550a6c2 100755

My python is even worse than my French, so that's the best I can do, but
I'm certain there's a better way. Can someone help my pathetic python,
hopefully in a way that will be acceptable to upstream?
I think that SALOME_ContainerPy.py should be considered as an executable
script because its first line starts with:

 #! /usr/bin/env python

Sure, though I think it might make sense to remove the .py from the
ending then, like avs2med and a couple of others. In Debian, executable
scripts are not supposed to have extensions, not even .sh .

Make sure your patch eventually puts it into the /usr/bin directory of
the python2.5-salome package, or else it will generate another lintian
error (python script without python dependency).

Thanks,
Adam

Oh dear, that's too bad... But yes, it is a gigantic package.

If I make a version without the -doc binary, that takes it from 859 to
235 MiB including .orig.tar.gz. (The -doc binary has a huge amount of

A better solution is currently being worked on, but might need some time.

Makes sense. But if the above isn't sufficient reduction in the package

Bug#565143: marked as done (RFH: cron -- process scheduling daemon)

---BeginMessage---
Package: wnpp

I would appreciate help in maintaining the cron package. The following
is part of my TODO things that I would like to (at some point in time)
do with this package:

- Fix existing bugs
- Convert the heavily patched cron (now at version 3.0pl1-106) into a
source package wi independent patches using quilt or similar tools
- Update to the 4.1 version available at http://ftp.isc.org/isc/cron/
(only feasible once the above is done so that the patches can be
reviewed individually)

Prospective helpers can check out the Alioth project page information
at https://alioth.debian.org/projects/pkg-cron/

If time passes by and I don't have time to work on the package I might
probably change the RFH to RFA. For the time being I would still like
to dedicate some time to co-maintain the package.

Regards

Javier

  - Fix broken parsing and handling of crontabs with no-newline-before-EOF
  - Refuse to install such crontabs via crontab(1). Closes: #79037
  - Log crontabs missing newline before EOF to syslog. This is only relevant
for crontabs not installed via crontab(1), ie. /etc/cron.d/* and

Bug#579593: Plans for a sssd package in Debian?

[Petter Reinholdtsen]
Hi. You get this as one of the uploaders of the sssd package in
 Ubuntu.

I only heard back from Scott Kitterman, who claimed to have no special
interest in the sssd package. Not quite sure what to make out of
that, but hope there is some interest in cooperation with the package
maintainence.

I've cleaned up the ubuntu package a bit, fixed some issues detected
by lintian and added pam-auth-update support, and uploaded it to
Debian.

I've sendt a patch upstream asking for a change to avoid having to
patch the makefiles to install properly, and hope it will be included
in the next upstream release. I notice a new version (1.1.1) is
available, but the source structure had changed quite a bit, and I
decided to upload 1.0.5 first to Debian and look into the build issues
with the new version later.

JFYI.

Happy hacking,

Bug#457075: salome_5.1.3-7_amd64.changes REJECTED

2010-05-05 Thread Joerg Jaspert

I'm sorry but I need to temporarily reject your package, as it is by far the
largest currently sitting in the NEW queue and ftp-master is currently
 running
 low on disc space.

I didn't had the time to investigate your package (beside seeing that it is
 the
largest in the NEW queue and rejecting it would reduce the size of NEW by
 more
 than a half!).

very large generated documentation...) Does that reduce it's size
 enough to consider re-uploading?

Yes.

I can appreciate the burden of checking a package of this size.

In this case it wasnt about checking it at all. Only about the sheer
size and the fact that ftpmaster does have some space issues.

But It's taken a good-sized team a few months of concerted effort to get
this far (development actually started about two and a half years ago),
and we'd like to be able to use the BTS to track the various issues with
 the package, among other concerns.

Oh sure, of course.

Makes sense. But if the above isn't sufficient reduction in the package
size, how will we know when this happens?

The archive of the etch release will get a message to d-d-a or so. :)

Also, we are getting new hardware for ftpmaster, which has much more
diskspace too, and which will finally allow us to setup
data.debian.org. Your package, at least the -doc part, seems a good
target for that.
