Bug#524835: thaifonts-siampradesh: changing back from ITP to RFP

Thanks for the cleanup. After many failed attempts to negotiate the re-licensing
with the copyright owners, or to get a clear answer from debian-legal whether
it could be uploaded to non-free, I no longer have interest to package it any
more.

This bug had been ITP since the beginning (no RFP), because I thought it's
useful for Thai users and intended to package and maintain it myself, but the
legal issues did not allow me to do so.

Helps are still welcome.

Bug#541979: My WIP miniupnpd packaging

2011-02-20 Thread Johan Kiviniemi
I have done some work on a miniupnpd package (in 2009, merging with
new upstream releases occasionally since then).

It’s functional, but it needs

• verifying (against upstream source files) and updating debian/copyright
• verifying it works on Debian and not just on Ubuntu
• a sysvinit script in addition to the Upstart job, I guess
• a Debian maintainer
• fixes for the lintian errors:
  ∘ I: miniupnpd: hyphen-used-as-minus-sign usr/share/man/man1/miniupnpd.1.gz:6
  ∘ W: miniupnpd: binary-without-manpage usr/sbin/miniupnpdctl

If someone would like to help with that, the packaging is in git-dpm
format at https://github.com/ion1/miniupnpd-ubuntu

The nf_nat.h issue is worked around by including a tiny header
consisting of just the definitions required by MiniUPnPd (see
debian/tiny_nf_nat.h).

Regards,
Johan Kiviniemi

I actually have an almost-ready package for ASCIIpOrtal in the Debian
Games Team's Git repository; just a couple of copyright issues remain
to be clarified with the upstream developers.

Sorry for the delay!

Since the patch is already applied upstream, and we are likely to wait
a while before 3.4.2 is out, it should be OK to apply the patch
locally to 3.4.1 for now. Please do that, and update the packaging
accordingly.

Bug#588216: RFC: First attempt to package BaseX XML Database

2011-02-20 Thread Ludovic Claude

Hello Alexander,

Your package looks good, can you add 3 little changes and it will be
perfect:
- add this line to maven.cleanIgnoreRules to get the clean target to
work without failures:
org.apache.maven.plugins maven-source-plugin * * * *
- add this line to maven.rules to have a safer upgrade path - here, we
assume that the next releases in the 6.x branch will remain compatible,
but major version changes (7.x and more) will require some adjustments:
org.basex basex jar s/6\..*/6.x/ * *
- the patch did not apply cleanly, I have refreshed it.

The updated packaging is in
https://code.launchpad.net/~ludovicc/uj/basex

Bug#553359: ITP: darktable -- virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers

2011-02-20 Thread Eric Veiras Galisson

Hello,

I wonder if there is any progress on the ITP of darktable, especially on
the licensing issues that were raised several months ago.

I just discovered darktable, and this software is great, and could be a
real alternative to rawstudio and ufraw on the linux side, but also to
proprietary solutions like Adobe Lightroom.

So I wonder if someone is still working on this ITP and if the current
blocking issues are being worked on.

Regards,

Eric

Yup. The licensing issues you mentioned are sorted out, thanks to
darktable no longer using the code in question. We are waiting for lcms2
to receive the attention of the very busy ftp-masters, and then we
should be good to upload (probably version 0.8 or 0.8.1).

I request an adopter for the sonata package.

The package description is:
Sonata is a lightweight GTK+ music client for the Music Player Daemon (MPD).
It aims to be efficient (no toolbar, main menu, or statusbar),
 user-friendly, and clean.

I stopped using MPD, so I somehow lost interest in MPD related things.

Bug#579924: iptraf-ng 1.0.3 release?

2011-02-20 Thread Frederic Peters
Hello,

Now that Debian Squeeze has been released I have been looking again at
removing iptraf in favour of iptraf-ng. Looking at the git tree I see
you recently renamed binaries, do you have a release date in mind for
a tarball with this change?

Thanks,

Frederic

I request an adopter for the pax-utils package.

This package is NOT to be confused with GNU paxutils.

The package description is:
This is a small set of various PaX aware and related utilities for ELF
binaries. It can check ELF binary files and running processes for
issues that might be relevant when using ELF binaries along with PaX,
such as non-PIC code or executable stack and heap.

I don't think that this is an issue at all. You could just build GT.M
manually on every architecture to do the initial upload. Once there's a
version in the archive, then new versions will be built with the
previous version.

TANGO is an object oriented distributed control system using CORBA,
mainly developed by the Controls Section of the ALBA Synchrotron.
TAURUS is a library for connecting graphical or commandline clients to
TANGO device servers, built on top of the PyTango bindings and the
graphical library PyQt. It provides an abstraction layer for accessing
TANGO in a pythonic, object oriented way.
 .
The goals of this library are to:
  * provide a simple TANGO API to the end-user application;
  * speed up development of TANGO-based applications;
  * provide a standardized look-and-feel.
 .
In many aspects, TAURUS follows the same approach as the TANGO Java
Application Tool Kit: Tango ATK. If you know ATK, TAURUS will look familiar.
 .
The TAURUS library is divided into two parts: the core module which handles
all interaction with PyTango, and the Qt module which provides a collection
of widgets that can be used inside any PyQt GUI.

  * A number of OpenMAX components which pass Khronos conformance
tests

It is intended to show the usage of the IL API and to allow
 people to start developing components.

 The current libomxil includes:

  * The IL core
  * An ALSA sink component
  * Several audio decoders:
o An MP3 decoder based on MAD library
o A decoder based on ffmpeg that decodes MP3, vorbis and AAC
  * A volume control component
  * A video decoder based on FFMPEG that decodes MPEG4 and H264 streams
  * A color converter
  * A video sink that uses directly the frame buffer device

A set of simple test application show the various OpenMAX
features, like the data tunneling between components

Bug#585768: About jstest-gtk

2011-02-20 Thread Miriam Ruiz
Hi Stephen,

I'm really really sorry of my late reply. I've just seen that you
merged your ITP on jstest-gtk (#585768) with mine (#527962) some
months ago. I thought I had replied that you could safely take the
package if you wanted, but looking at the bug report it seems that I
only did it in my imagination. Are you still interested in it? If so,
please take it freely. I'd be glad if you did. If you're not
interested in it anymore, I can upload the current package I already
have in the Games Team SVN.

I'm really really sorry about the delay, I've been seriously
overloaded with lots of stuff recently :(

Greetings,
Miry

[KSB] Are you sure about it. That was not my understanding of how the
system worked, but if you are right, it does simplify things. Can you
say definitively, point me to a discussion and/or connect me with someone

* Package name: visolate
  Version : 2.0.0
Upstream Author : Marsette A. Vona, III
* URL : http://www.mit.edu/~vona/Visolate/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Java
Description : tool for engraving PCBs using CNCs

Visolate reads the gerber files describing printed circuit boards and converts
them into the g-code needed to engrave they layout into a board using a CNC
machine. Precise renditions of the original layout can be created as well as
voronoi fillings of the original layout, shortening the toolpath.

there are some issues to be resolved with upstream concerning which
version is the latest, but these can be expected to be resolved easily.

as far as packaging itself is concerned, the current status relies on
javahelper and hardly does anything but call javahelper and include a
binary wrapper.

for sake of completeness, i should mention that i have no experience in
java programming at all -- for all but trivial fixes in the code, i will
have to rely on upstream or others. that whole jar business seems to be
handled by jh quite well, fortunately :-)

I'm not sure why you posted this. I asked why a user space govornor
works, but a kernel space one does not. You seem to have taken that as
"how do you know the user space one works"?

No, I am *not* guessing. I *have* PowerPC boxes. They suffer the same "too
high latency" stuff from ondemand/conservative governors.

Too high latency? It is starting to sound like these modules have too
high of a latency to handle the high update frequency the kernel
governors want to use ( many times each second, vs once a second for
powernowd ). Can you not just lower the update frequency the governor uses?

Bug#541207: gt.m: changing back from ITP to RFP

2011-02-20 Thread Bhaskar, K.S
I manage the group that develops FIS GT.M upstream. Although there has
been no evidence of activity on the Debian lists in the last six months,
there has been activity upstream.

Here is the issue: just as it takes a gcc binary to compile gcc, building
GT.M has a bootstrapping step and it takes a GT.M binary to build GT.M.
This appears to be a catch-22 situation for GT.M (although it is
apparently not a catch-22 situation for gcc). We have been trying to use
Python for the bootstrap step, but still do not have a successful GT.M
build yet. If you can advise us on a way to break out of the catch-22
situation - what it would essentially take is an initial exception to
allow is to use a GT.M binary to build GT.M from source - we can make a
lot more progress, and progress visible to you. Otherwise, please leave
GT.M in the ITP stage, and once we are able to use Python successfully to
build GT.M, there will be progress that is visible to you.

Bug#587982: glmlite: changing back from ITP to RFP

I've started to package glmlite, and the basic packaging is done. The
only remaining issues that prevented me from uploading it was the
examples and their support with an installed packaged (i.e. from outside
the source tree), and the fact that I don't use it personnally, so I
don't really know how to test the package (but easy use of examples with
an installed package could be a solution). I am also quite suspicious
about some licenses in the examples, but similar stuff already exists in
the archive. Someone (I don't remember who) pointed me to patches in
Mandriva for usage of examples outside of the build tree, but they were
unacceptable for me. I've pushed my current packaging for reference at
[1], but I don't plan to work on it in a near future, so I'll leave this
bug as RFP.

Bug#541242: vista: changing back from ITP to RFP

2011-02-20 Thread Bhaskar, K.S
This effort is awaiting the completion of the worldvista-ehr package (bug
541245) which in turn awaits the packaging of FIS GT.M (bug 541207).
Once I create a worldvista-ehr package, I will create a vista
meta-package for which WorldVistA EHR will be one of the alternatives.

Bug#588216: RFC: First attempt to package BaseX XML Database

2011-02-20 Thread Alexander Holupirek
Hi,

i tried to package 'BaseX - An XML Database' [1],[2] for Debian and produced a
first set of package files that can be found on

http://www.inf.uni-konstanz.de/dbis/basex/debian/index.php

The maven-*-helper tools from Ludovic Claude were of great help. Thanks for
those!

Since this is my first packaging experience, I would like to ask for some
comments if I could improve something before I try to find a sponsor.

The package provides:

$ apt-cache show basex
Package: basex
Status: install ok installed
Priority: optional
Section: database
Installed-Size: 2272
Maintainer: Alexander Holupirek
Architecture: all
Version: 6.5.1-1
Depends: java-wrappers, default-jre | java6-runtime
Description: XML database and XPath/XQuery processor
BaseX is a very fast and light-weight, yet powerful XML database and
XPath/XQuery processor, including support for the latest W3C Full Text and
Update Recommendations. It supports large XML instances and offers a highly
interactive front-end (basexgui). Apart from two local standalone modes, BaseX
 offers a client/server architecture.
 .
 The package provides following commands:
  * basexgui ... Standalone local XML database.
   Graphical User Interface (GUI) mode.
Includes data visualizations and XQuery editor.
  * basex .. Standalone local XML database. Command line mode.
