Bug#598045: hotot Debian package

 Hi Julien,

Sorry for the low reply, but I was a bit sick.

Hope you feel better now.

However, Thanks for give me the opportunity for co-maintain hotot.

You are welcome.

I propose we set up a git repository on alioth in the collab-maint project.
Do you have an account on alioth [0]? If not, please create one and ask to
be added to the collab-maint project.

I did a previos work[0] and fixes recommended in debian mentors list[1].

 But I can't use libjs-jquery[2] because I don't have experience in Javascript
 programming.

As simple dependency and a symlink are enough.

You can have a look at the current state of the package in my git repository
[1].

Cheers,
Julien

 Hi Julien,

I forget it, it's very important check again the copyright and licenses.

This part is yet to be finished (though I have worked on checking the
various licenses, the debian/copyright file isn't yet complete).

Cheers,
Julien

Sikuli is a visual technology to search and automate graphical user interfaces
(GUI) using images (screenshots). Sikuli contains Sikuli Script, a visual
scripting API for Jython, and Sikuli IDE, an integrated development environment
for writing visual scripts with screenshots easily. Sikuli Script automates
anything you see on the screen without internal API's support. You can
programmatically control a web page, a desktop application, or even an
iphone application running in an emulator.

Description : Moose role that extends class' constructor to accept single
arguments

MooseX::OneArgNew lets your constructor take a single argument, which will be
translated into the value for a one-entry hashref. It is a parameterized
role with two parameters:
 * type - The Moose type that the single argument must be for the one-arg form
to work. This should be an existing type, and may be either a string type or
   a MooseX::Type.
 * init_arg - This is the string that will be used as the key for the hashref
constructed from the one-arg call to new.

NOTE: This is another dependency of the new version of libconfig-mvp-perl.

Description : perl interface to HTTP style messages

The HTTP::Headers class encapsulates HTTP-style message headers. The headers
consist of attribute-value pairs also called fields, which may be repeated,
and which are printed in a particular order. The field names are cases
insensitive.

Instances of this class are usually created as member variables of the
HTTP::Request and HTTP::Response classes, internal to the library.

Description : module for simple contextual logging

Log::Contextual is a Perl module that provides an implementation-independent
interface for simple data logging. It supports painless switching between any
logger that implements the defined interface, either for the entire program
(using set_logger) or for a given section of code (using with_logger).

The framework supports many logging levels that are enabled using environment
variables (these are, in order of decreasing verbosity: trace, debug, info,
warn, error, and fatal).

This package includes simple loggers that can be seamlessly upgraded to more
advanced loggers, such as Log::Dispatchouli (see liblog-dispatchouli-perl).

NOTE: this package is needed for the packaging of
libdbix-class-deploymenthandler-perl (see BTS#617978)

Node is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
 .
Cradle is an asynchronous javascript client for CouchDB. It is
somewhat higher-level than most other CouchDB clients, requiring a
little less knowledge of CouchDB's REST API.
 .
Cradle also has built-in write-through caching, giving you an extra
level of speed, and making document _updates_ and _deletion_ easier.

Node is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
 .
node-xmpp is an XMPP library for Node.
 .
 Objectives of node-xmpp:
  * Uses Node conventions, especially 'EventEmitter', ie. for write
buffer control.
  * Fast parsing, 'node-expat' was written with this library in mind.
  * Client support for both XMPP clients and components.
  * Optional server infrastructure with 'Router'.
  * After authentication, leave trivial protocol bits to the user (later
we could offer helpers for entity capabilities hashing, etc.).

Node is an event-based server-side JavaScript engine.
 .
channel-server is an XMPP component implemented in Node.
 .
Social network users who are concerned about privacy and censorship
want to run their own decentralized instances, yielding full control
over own data. channel-server is a building block for a bright future:
it exposes your data to the network, featuring access control and
 real-time update notification.
 .
The primary network protocol is Buddycloud Channels, an open federated
 protocol from http://open.buddycloud.com/ .

Bug#619059: ITP: libmozilla-ca-perl -- Mozilla's CA cert bundle in PEM format

Description : Mozilla's CA cert bundle in PEM format

Mozilla::CA provides a copy of Mozilla's bundle of Certificate Authority
certificates in a form that can be consumed by modules and libraries based on
 OpenSSL.

I'm assuming your motivation for packaging this is the latest release of
libwww-perl using this module for SSL trust chain validation when using
https.

I'm writing this email in order to point out that what makes sense for
CPAN isn't necessarily the right thing to do for downstream
distributions.

LWP decided to validate SSL certificates. For that it needs a list of
trusted certificate authorities. With the way we distribute software on
CPAN right now, we don't have a way of actually asking the user about
what authorities he'd like to trust. LWP kind of took the easy route and
just went with Mozilla::CA and trusts every authority Mozilla trusts,
without giving the user much of a chance to customise things, unless
he's willing to maintain a local directory containing trusted CAs and
changing his code to use that in favour of the one provided by
Mozilla::CA.

In Debian, we already have a more convenient way to ship CA certificates
and give the local administrator the possibility to trust or not trust
the included authorities individually and to easily add new trusted
authorities not already provided by Debian. The infrastructure for that
exists in the ca-authorities package.

I'd like you to consider modifying LWP for Debian so it'll make use of
the infrastructure we already have. I haven't actually investigated how
involved the customisations for that would have to be, but I have a
strong suspicion that it's going to end up being quite minimal and
easily maintainable in the long run.

In case that turns out to be false, the upstream maintainers of the
related CPAN distributions, libwww-perl, IO-Socket-SSL, and Net-SSLeay,
are generally open to patches and I'm sure they'd also be very open to
working with downstreams such as Debian in order to make this sort of
customisation even easier, if need be.

Description : Groovy based build system

Gradle is a build system written in Groovy. It uses Groovy
also as the language for its build scripts. It has a powerful
multi-project build support. It has a layer on top of Ivy
that provides a build-by-convention integration for Ivy. It
gives you always the choice between the flexibility of Ant
and the convenience of a build-by-convention behavior.

Description : command line interface to transifex servers

transifex-client is a tool to integrate a remote transifex server in a
project's source directory.
.
(A transifex server can be used to manage a project's translations so
that translators can create or update translations using a web
frontend.)
.
Similar to version control systems (which can run in parallel but are
not integrated in transifex any more since server version 1.0), changes
in translations can be pulled from and pushed to the server by `tx pull`
and `tx push`.

packaging-wise, everything should be pretty straight-forward vanilla
setuptools python package with a simple copyright situation; only
dependency i see is python-simplejson. biggest issue i see is that even
though it is the only sane way to integrate transifex in one's projects
after 1.0 dropped vcs support, it is still changing fast (0.2 released
2010-09-09, 0.3 released 2010-12-06, 0.4 released 2010-12-22).

Bug#590440: git-sh package in Debian

2011-03-22 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi Alex,

Alex Morega wrote:

I'm trying to package git-sh for inclusion in Debian.
[...]
What would you suggest as a next step?

I think maybe a quick demonstration of what the package does might
help DDs to start using it (and hence to need the package). As far as
I can tell, the package:

 - uses bash as its interface, so would not be as useful for zsh
addicts but should be useful for bash users :)
 - sets up some aliases so you can use checkout or even c to
   mean git checkout
 - sets up a nice prompt and applies git's tab completion rules to
   those aliases

Do I understand correctly? It might also be nice to clarify the
package description to explain this sort of thing.

I'm cc-ing the ITP bug so others wanting to help out can see this,
too. (Hopefully that's okay.)

Thanks and good luck,
Jonathan

OK. I imported my efforts so far into our current git (debian/ contents only).
http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-openoffice/graphite2.git;a=summary

I think you should request commit rights on pkg-openoffice then ;)
(or we could move it somewhere else, whatever...)

I think we should upload to experimental first as it is still under
development heading for the 1.0 release.

Yep. LibreOffice 3.4 (which needs it is far away anyways)

Bug#361954: status update?

2011-03-22 Thread Jose Antonio Quevedo
Hi folks,

this package have been stuck while we were waitting for the OpenSSL
exception to be added to the Ossec's legal code. Today this exception
haven't been added, but Daniel Cid (upstream) wants to keep his code as GPL,
so we can continue working hoping to solve the OpenSSL issue later.
There are two ways to avoid the OpenSSL exception: disabling OpenSSL or
migrate the code from OpenSSL to GNU/TLS.

Now we already know, thanks to Javier Fernandez-Sanguino, that we can
disable OpenSSL and make it work pretty easily.

But the other question would be, what do you think about the impact of
disabling openssl on Ossec? OpenSSL has some interesting features that
should be considered.
We can disable OpenSSL and make it work, but doing this we could be
releasing a dangerous software, so IMHO it would be quite interesting to
have an OpenSSL-2-GNUTLS.patch.

Now I'm looking for the way to publish the source code of this package as
it's developed.
Maybe you already know a good place to do this and would like to share? Then
please, let us know. I'm thinking in a git repository.

Happy hacking,

2011/3/1 Ciarán Handley cia...@linux.ie

 Jose,

Are you having discussions about this with the developer outside of their
mailing lists? From what I found on the different lists at
http://www.ossec.net/main/support/ there haven't been any updates since
'09. It seems to me that for them to add exception/s is a trivial change.
Why is this taking so long? What can we do to speed this up a bit? I took
the liberty of making the 'suggestion' on their request page (
 http://ossec.uservoice.com/forums/18254-general/suggestions/1543503-debian-package),
if people would like to vote it up.

 Cheers,
 Ciarán

  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : HTTP cookie jars

This class is for objects that represent a cookie jar -- that is, a
database of all the HTTP cookies that a given LWP::UserAgent object knows
about.

Cookies are a general mechanism which server side connections can use to
both
store and retrieve information on the client side of the connection. For
more

information about cookies refer to
URL:http://curl.haxx.se/rfc/cookie_spec.html and
URL:http://www.cookiecentral.com/. HTTP::Cookies also implements the new
style cookies described in RFC 2965. The two variants of cookies are
supposed

to be able to coexist happily.

Instances of the class HTTP::Cookies are able to store a collection of
Set-Cookie2: and Set-Cookie: headers and are able to use this information to
initialize Cookie-headers in HTTP::Request objects. The state of a
HTTP::Cookies object can be saved in and restored from files.
