See:

Since it uses the toplevel (which is a form of compiler), it qualifies
better as a development tool.

It's not an error, it's an info :-) Please override it with a useful
comment, and don't split the package.

It should be possible to compile stuff so that your:

  #use "hol.ml";;

could be replaced by a much faster:

  #load "hol.cma";;

Besides, the package would also be of better quality, because it would
not be available if the compilation of hol.ml failed.

Bug#660438: gnunet -- secure, trust-based peer-to-peer framework

2012-03-20 Thread Bertrand Marc
Hello,

I have an initial 0.9.2 gnunet package but it is not complete yet. I
still have work to do on libextractor too. libmicrohttpd is done
though.

If you want to help you are more than welcome. I did not work on
gnunet-gtk (I did not even send the ITA yet) so you could start there,
handling the transition of gnunet-setup from src:gnunet to
src:gnunet-gtk.

Cheers,

Hello Christian,
Can I help you for pybrain? Otherwise, do you have an ETA for the package?
I would like to see pybrain in Debian.

gLExec is a program that acts as a light-weight 'gatekeeper'. it takes
Grid credentials as input, and takes the local site policy into
account to authenticate and authorize the credentials. It will then
switch to a new execution sandbox and execute the given command as the
switched identity. gLExec is also capable of functioning as a
light-weight control point which offers a binary yes/no result in

Chyrp is a blogging engine designed to be lightweight while retaining

 any way you want. All of your content is powered by a unique Feathers system
 that allows Chyrp to be whatever you want it to be. You can post anything
 and everything, or just stick to the default Text feather and run a regular
 blog. Chyrp destroys the fine line between a blog and a tumblelog.

Bug#614517: Packaging of libgit2

2012-03-20 Thread Russell Sim
Hi,

I have been watching this bug for a while with interest. I have tried
and failed to find copies of the package referred to in a previous
email. Since then I have been maintaining my own version of libgit2 for
a library I develop. Recently I have had the time to enhance the
packages I have been using to make them more applicable to the Debian
project. I have uploaded them to mentors.debian.net [1]. So at this
point I am interested contributing to the packaging of this library in
what ever way I can, I am happy to try and find a mentor if necessary
unless someone on this list is interested?.

Thanks!
Russell

Bug#664742: RFP: photoshow -- A free Web Gallery for your server

2012-03-20 Thread nodiscc
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: photoshow
  Version : 0.218b
  Upstream Author : Thibaud Rohmer
* URL : http://www.photoshow-gallery.com/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: PHP
  Description : A free Web Gallery for your server

PhotoShow is a free, open-source, and very easy to use web gallery installable
 on any web server. Only two lines of configuration, and you're good to go !
 Adding and sorting photos, albums, users, and groups have never been easier.
 Simply drag and drop them wherever you want. To delete a photo or an album,
 just drag and drop it on the bin. Easy ! PhotoShow automatically generates
 the whole website, including the thumbnails. Also, if your photos are bigger
 than 800x600px, it generates a smaller version for displaying (the big
 version is still available for your viewers to download, of course). The
 architecture of PhotoShow's albums is created using the File System directly:
 no database is required to use PhotoShow. You can use your File System
 directly to add, move, or delete albums and pictures. PhotoShow is compatible
with DropBox, along with all of your Unix tools, because it is based on the
File System. Use rsync, scp, or anything you prefer to interact
 with your photos. Each of your files and folders has its owns permissions,
 configurable in PhotoShow by the Admin (you). On the go, select which
 group/user can access an item. PhotoShow provides a proxy for accessing the
 images, checking if the user is allowed to view an image or not. It is
 advised to place the directory for your photos in a folder not accessible by
 the web. Then, passing through PhotoShow's proxy will be necessary to access
 the images, ensurring you that only allowed users can view them.

Here are some others from the most recent test build (note that they're
from the Lintian check because if a separate script for checking the
file is already available, I haven't located it yet):

W: ledgersmb source: missing-field-in-dep5-copyright copyright

   I've an idea what's causing that and it's fixable.

W: ledgersmb source: comma-separated-files-in-dep5-copyright
W: ledgersmb source: missing-license-paragraph-in-dep5-copyright gpl-2+

   Those are at the same line but I don't see why it's coming up, though
it might be a parse error due to previous missing field. Will check it
again after that is fixed.

W: ledgersmb source: missing-license-paragraph-in-dep5-copyright gpl

That could be fixed by adding a GPL license paragraph but I need to
check with at least the original packager about which License she
actually meant as at the time she listed it, that pointed to GPL-2+
while since then that points to GPL-3.

After I've read this and also the paragraph "Disk Drives Make Good Prayer
Wheels" on http://dharma-haven.org/tibetan/digital-wheels.htm I'm quite sad,
as I plan to switch to SDDs soon, and they dont spin - so that means the
prayerwheel software wont work for me?

Owner: Ivan Krylov

* Package name: sandbox
  Version : 2.5
  Upstream Author : Gentoo Foundation
* URL : http://gentoo.org/

  Programming Lang: C
  Description : A helper utility to run programs in a sandboxed environment

 Sandbox is a library (and helper utility) to run programs in a "sandboxed"
 environment. This is used as a QA measure to try and prevent applications from
 modifying files they should not.
 .
 For example, in the Gentoo world it is used for building applications as root
 and being sure that the build system does not do crazy things outside of its
 build directory. Such as install files to the live root file system or modify
 config files on the fly.
 .
 For people who are familiar with the Debian "fakeroot" project or the RPM based
 "InstallWatch", sandbox is in the same vein of projects.

I understood upstream has given permission for packaging, as noted in
the bug report:

"If you are planning to package Services for a package distribution,
please stick to packaging only the longterm supported tree only. It will
help us to ensure that your users are using software we still
maintain. Thank you for your cooperation!"

assuming this is the version you packaged, and there is no other issue,
then I don't see why there needs to be permission, but perhaps you could
detail that?

The current state of the pkg needs a licensee review. I'm working to
bring the pkg up to a releasable state for my own practice. I
understand that it still needs a lot of work to be considered ready for
inclusion.

Too much drama. Some users are familiar with Atheme's stance on
packaging, so you'll be asked to not package Atheme by just about
anybody. After so much time has passed it would be important to
re-affirm permission and also determine who has the right to suggest to
Debian that they would prefer there to not be a package and who has the
right to grant permission.

It would be important for any mentor to understand the landscape. We
may have to disclaim that there is no support whatsoever from upstream
of this package or at least inform users that a "handful of Atheme
users" will angrily reject any requests pertaining to the Debian package.

As far as Atheme's stance on this issue I have no idea, I can't even say
with any certainty who Atheme is aside from the copyright Upstream
Authors. Could any one of there objections prevent inclusion into Debian?

It also should be noted that I have a mental illness, as I'm sure many
can relate, in working with ppl. I really only understand the actions
of computers and this causes humans to hate me, in my opinion unjustifiably.

So why do we need this as well as fakeroot?

Ben.

Bug#664829: ITP: libperlbal-xs-httpheaders-perl -- Perlbal extension for processing HTTP headers faster

2012-03-20 Thread Jonathan Steinert
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jonathan Steinert

* Package name: libperlbal-xs-httpheaders-perl
  Version : 0.20
  Upstream Author : Mark Smith
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Perlbal-XS-HTTPHeaders/
* License : (Artistic, GPL1+)
  Programming Lang: (Perl, C++)
  Description : Perlbal extension for processing HTTP headers faster

Perlbal::XS::HTTPHeaders is used to read HTTP headers from a string and to
parse them into an internal storage format for easy access and modification.
You can also ask the module to reconstitute the headers into one big string,
useful if you're writing a proxy and need to read and write headers while
maintaining the ability to modify individual parts of the whole.

The goal is to be fast. This is a lot faster than doing all of the text
processing in Perl directly, and a lot of the flexibility of Perl is
maintained by implementing the library in Perl and descending from
Perlbal::HTTPHeaders.
